  1. "Just Barely Breathing" has probably the best chorus riff ever conceived by human minds. Seriously, that album is so cramped with awesomeness it makes me want to weep for joy.
  2. Fuck yeah! I've got the accommodation I want at QMUL (on suite) and my total fees, including everything are about 4500 quid, which about half what everyone else has to pay. I ma gonna be living the good life
  3. Old and amateurish, but it made me rofl uncontrollably
  4. That looks absolutely, thoroughly unbelievable. I hope they add some good new mechanics, rather than it being a next gen iteration of RE4 (although, I wouldn't complain one bit about that either) I'm really looking forward to seeing the details, like the Merchant from RE4 and the collectible weapons like the handcannon.
  5. Yup, upscaled PS2 games would be great. And maybe as a Bluray player too.
  6. Kurt was a pretty great lyricist. Fave Nirvana songs: About A Girl Dive Aneurysm Lithium Lounge Act Smells Like Teen Spirit (even though it's overplayed, it's still a lot of fun) Heart Shaped Box Serve The Servants Pennyroyal Tea Polly You Know You're Right. That's some fairly vacant hyperbole to be honest with you.
  7. That's fairly appalling. Ok, so my only reason for ever buying a PS3 has gone down the shitter.
  8. Ah, safe. Well, it does look fantastic. Hope it plays and sells well, need more games like this on Wii. No videos of this so far I suppose?
  9. I really looking forward to this, although FF3 wasn't great. Didn't this come out on the PS2 though? What are the reviews like?
  10. His Jinrai special is by far the most useful, since a maxed out meter lets you do it three times in a match. It's a total lifesaver in SF3. SF4 also looks far too slow at the moment. Deshiken: And of course, the infamous Daigo moment: SF4 just doesn't look as anywhere near as fun to watch.
  11. New "vengeance" trailer looks great, although the character animations look a bit stiff and not as fluid as in the SF3 series, and I'm still bummed out about the lack of more than one special per character.
  12. Around this time in the Cube's life I loved these games: Waverace: Blue Storm Star Wars Rebel Strike: Rogue Leader 2 Pikmin Resident Evil Luigi's Mansion Super Smash Bros: Melee (which I still maintain is superior to Brawl) Timesplitters 2 Zelda: Wind Waker Metroid Prime Splinter Cell Prince of Persia: Sands of Time (Not sure if this was out at the time actually) Tony Hawks 4 (back when the series was still kickass) Burnout 2 Mario Sunshine With the Wii, the only games I've really liked so far are MP3: Corruption Twilight Princess Mario Galaxy Zakk And Wiki Maybe I've become more picky, or maybe it's the fact that there are far better games available on the 360, but the Gamecube had much better games for it's time than the Wii, and funnily enough, I prefered the Gamecube iterations of Nintendo's titles (apart from Mario, obviously). To be fair, maybe I'm being a bit harsh on Nintendo, they tried something new with the Wii, and are still trying to find their feet, but I somehow still have faith that we will see some good stuff on the Wii eventually. There was also the factor of the Cube being an incredibly powerful machine at the time, more so than the market leader and was more than able to compete. With Wii, it seems that we're seeing games from the last generation, but with the added novelty of motion control (which is amazing some of the time, and badly implemented most of the time)
  13. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Japanese rock, for the most part, blows.
  14. Yes, well, you will get dumped on if you try to play tournament level in any 2D fighter (and most 3D fighters) without an arcade stick. The speed with which you need to do quarter turns to do...say, Ken's Low Medium Kick cancelled into medium shoryuken cancelled into jinrai super, you need to pull off a clockwise quarter turn (into low kick) followed by an anticlockwise turn (into medium or fierce shoryuken) and another anticlockwise turn (into jinrai) in slightly over 1 second, while at the same time pressing the correct buttons. Techniques like this are thoroughly impossible in competitive play without an arcade stick. Virtua Fighter 5's move list for pretty much any character is impossible to master without an arcade stick. Etc Etc. It takes quite a lot of practice to get accustomed to using them, but it's more than worth it. To be honest though, the only fighter I can still play very competitively is SF3: 3rd Strike, but that's a game that I can and will never get bored of. If you have friends who are a challenge to you, good fighters never lose their fun.
  15. You have read this thread, right? The guy is saying he's been lifting weights for 3 years without putting on any weight.
  16. Well, I was talking about the cover system. The over shoulder view has been pretty widely used, so it's not much to brag about, and Metal Gear is stealth action, not a Third Person Shooter, so it wouldn't make any sense to say that RE5 with a cover system would play like MGS, now would it?
  17. It's the best cover system in any game I've played. The over the shoulder view was clearly inspired by RE4, but it worked perfectly in Gears too. I think Gears it the defining third person shooter this generation, so it seems only fair that people would compare other games to it, rather than reference some obscure, mediocre game in the past that nobody remembers. That, and the fact that if RE5 did implement a cover system, then it would probably play quite a bit like Gears.
  18. Cheers for stating the obvious.
  19. Are...are you taking the piss?
  20. Yeah, but you would never play a 2D beat em up without an arcade stick...unless...you is n00b. I think I've made my point, so I'll stop saying it now
  21. Why would you presume you wouldn't be able to create? Anyway, that's a frustration for any artist from time to time. Just because something is technically brilliant, doesn't mean it's a good piece of music, and similarly, only the shallow dismiss music because it's simple. The problem is when something is simple, dull and uninspired at the same time (ie. Oasis). Good musicianship isn't only defined through technical prowess, but also through, for example, how a particular chord change, or progression in the melody can evoke a particular response from the listener. That's why I don't like Yngwie Malmsteen and why I detest Angelo Batio; all their playing sounds like guitar exercises. Whats the point of playing an arpeggio so fast you can't distinguish between the notes? Also: Cheap, and some of the time, expensive amps never do their jobs. What you need is a good pedal to get the right sound, and a guitar with a good set of pickups.
  22. Well, not appreciate, I'm sure you have a great appreciation. I just like to hear something an understand what's going on behind it is all. Maybe other people don't like to look at music so holistically, but wanting to grow as a musician got me interested in music that I would never have listened to otherwise. I think more than anything, playing an instrument acts as an impetus to look into what makes the music what it is, and helps in being able to articulate that, rather than just listening to something as background sound and saying "that's good" or "that's bad." Hell, I'm not even saying that I'm good at that myself, I don't know theory, but I like to try. I wouldn't go for an Ibanez tbh, the necks are fast, but the instruments aren't very versatile. And I have an innate loathing of Floyd Rose (which is what Ibanez do best). Have you checked out the PRS student editions? Roland Cubes are fantastic amps. Also: Yamaha Pacifica's are good starter amps, but I tend to go for dual humbuckers. Much thicker sound. I'll post my guitar pics later
  23. Speaking of guitars, what guitars/ amps do you have?
  24. I'm not into Sci-Fi at all (saying that, I've got 9 Seasons of Stargate SG-1 on DVD...), but it seemed really pretty dire.
  25. Yeah, exactly, it's just good fun stuff to listen to, informative and pretty casual. IGN seem to be a bit "ugh, we gotta do a podcast..." In fact, I listen to the GFW and EGM podcasts too, even though they rarely talk about games I will play
