  1. Wow, for a game we thought we knew pretty much everything about, there was a heck of a lot of new & exciting information!
  2. Hey, can't believe I missed this thread before! PS4 owner with username WackerJr37. XBox 360 owner with username WackerJr Cheers!
  3. It reminds me a little of the Volleyball game included within one of the Mario Party GameCube games. It's a fun concept although I do wonder how much depth there would have been. The wrestling aspect intrigues me, although I'd need to be convinced that Nintendo characters would be suited to more serious grappling as opposed to the much more cartoony and exaggerated battling in Smash Bros. I enjoyed Beach Spikers on GC, but again there's only so much depth to a Volleyball game. Nice find though, and it's been interesting to read about these concepts that have been shown to Nintendohat have come about recently.
  4. That was really interesting. I knew some of the story about the ridiculous changes in producer, etc. but I didn't realise that about the likes of Tom Hanks and Dustin Hoffman. Things could have turned out very differently!
  5. I'm not a huge fan of the concept art of Samus, although I do believe in the ability of the developers. I am still surprised that we've heard nothing about a new Metroid game besides the comment that they know fans are still interested. Hopefully there's something in development.
  6. I just flicked in and put occasionally, but I enjoyed what I saw. Using the Treehouse team is a great concept. They're clearly passionate about games and come across really well I think.
  7. For me, of the more recent generations, two TV tie-ins were utter tripe: Lost and Prison Break. I'd read the reviews and knew they weren't very good, but thought I'd find enjoyment as a fan of the shows. Needless to say, there was no pleasure to be found here! Thank goodness they were 2nd hand and cost me less than a tanner altogether. Lesson learned!
  8. I agree that the missions are excellent! I finished the main game quicker than I'd've liked, although it was great fun while it lasted. I didn't expect to spend much time on the missions, but I was hooked! Clearing each stage is tough as well & is so rewarding when you finally manage to crack it!
  9. I saw that too. Good of Nintendo to put out a thank you message to the players. Daft question though, what is the "no Johns" reference? To do with the E3 tournament? I managed the fit in some of Evo 2014 and it was sensational! The BlazBlue final in particular I was on the edge of my seat!
  10. Hang on, I'm in Spain at the moment (celebrating my birthday) - how come my body doesn't look anything like that!?!
  11. Thanks Ville, that's really useful to see what's happening. The initial concept hasn't grabbed me, but I'm intrigued to hear more and see it in action. I can't remember the last time Intelligent Systems let me down. Hopefully this round table will serve up some big news and excitement!
  12. Erm, I can't think of anything off-hand. The Digital Event was virtually solely focused on WiiU. The only 3DS games I can recall are Pokemon and Smash Bros. Hopefully that means there are more surprises in store as the show continues...
  13. Do we think this is the secret 3DS game that Nintendo have hinted about and are holding a roundtable about later? (note: in a few hours there will be a very obvious answer to this...)
  14. Everything's been good for me so far without anything mind-blowing. Microsoft showed off a large number of games - finally someone understands what you need to do at these press conferences! Sony up next. Looking forward to seeing what they show in the morning. At the moment Nintendo need a strong performance, although the opportunity is still there to really put an impression in.
  15. Does anyone have 'Deadlight'? It was on the Games for Gold promotion recently. I've got all of the achievements except the one that relies on having a friend that has been on the leaderboard for the game, and unfortunately none of my friends have it. Would be grateful if there's anyone that can help me out with this one! My username is WackerJr.
  16. To me it was a show of support from Europe that Austria won, with the amount of furore from countries such as Russia about the singer. It was a good song, although I think there were a few that were much better. While there was still much biased voting, I thought there was less this year than in previous (there have been examples in this thread already). Plus the upper half of the table had the right songs. Shame the UK entry didn't get higher, but I think Molly did an excellent job with a good song and should be proud of that.
  17. Hey @qbas, I've added you as well. My code is 3222-5566-1724 if you're interested (NNID is WackerJr).
  18. Ok so the video doesn't reveal a huge amount, but already I'm excited by the prospect of a new Ace Attorney game! I'm a little disappointed that as yet they've decided not to continue the relationship between Phoenix and Maya, but a new setting means Capcom are free to do as they see fit, and I for one can't wait!
  19. The 32/64-bit era for me as well. Yes I look at it fondly as it's the first generation where I bought my own console and played games throughout. It felt like the start of something new, with developers trying new genres and new ideas. The SNES had refined everything starred in the 8-bit era and so this was suddenly new and exciting with 3D, console first-person shooters that started competing with those on PC, CDs, the rumble pack and analogue stick, etc. Yes if we play those games now, the majority have been improved upon and refined since, but this era still holds a great place in my gaming experiences.
  20. I actually prefer the "out of 100" scoring system. The most important aspect for whoever is reviewing the game has a definition of what the scoe bands actually mean (I.e., is 50 an 'average' game or is '70' deemed average). I understand that there's minimal difference between a 71 and a 72. Weirdly, I've always imagined that the difference between a 92 and 93 say, is bigger than 52 and 53. When a game scores over 80 or 90 it becomes much tougher to distinguish whether one game is more fun than another. It's more about trusting the reviewer. Magazines such as Edge and Famitsu have great reputations for the honesty and accuracy of their reviews, and being especially good at understanding how many enjoyment the average gamer will get from a game. I used to read N64 Magazine and found their review scores tended to mirror my own enjoyment, whereas I couldn't trust the old Nintendo Official Magazine, which struggled with giving games (especially Nintendo /Rare games) less than 90 (here's looking at you Starfox Adventures). I'm not a fan of re-reviewing games following additional content, as I'd rather it was all out at the beginning. Saying that, I do appreciate that DLC is commonplace so there should be a way of identifying if a game has actually been improved following DLC, bug fixes, etc.
  21. With 800 stars expiring this month the soundtrack came along at just the right time! That'll do methinks!
  22. It's got a great premise, and after a whole host of Civ games on Earth this shakes the formula up. Can't wait to see more, and I'm already excited for it!
  23. I'm so glad Nintendo finally released a game in the 'Wars' series over here when they released this originally. While I still prefer the sequel, which managed to improve and tweak all the minor details, the original is still a ridiculously addictive slab of turn-based action. I hope this sells on the WiiU.
  24. June 6th then? Excellent, as this title has me intrigued. It looks like it has potential, and the previews I've seen have sparked my interest. Hopefully the finished game will turn out as good.
