  1. Again we will have to disagree on this but generally I think this country has done a poor job in educating people about the dangers of the credit mindset, and explains why a lot of people are in debt. The example you gave about feeling better about £29 a month more or less sums up the way a lot of people can look at the smaller number without doing the maths to see they're paying an extortionate amount more with credit (not saying you are that person, clearly you understand it, but that "live for the moment" way of thinking is common). For some things credit is absolutely vital (e.g. mortgages) or for people who literally can't get by otherwise, but I do think for a luxury purchase like a games console then some level of criticism is valid. Yeah it very clearly comes down to how you feel about credit. Credit allows people to get things they cannot afford in one go. If people are not aware of the dangers of credit then that is on them. Ive always had something on credit. TV, phone, laptop. I have a great credit score and my credit has helped me maintain that score because I have never missed a payment on anything. My partner hates credit, would never entertain the idea for anything and wonders why when he reluctantly looked at getting a loan with his 995 credit score his results were all over 20% APR. With no big lender wanting to touch him. Anyway, it's not really on topic anymore. For me this is a good option for a lot of people and whether you agree with it or not I don't think anyone can deny it is beneficial for some.
  2. Why should it be criticised? Credit always costs more. It's no secret or surprise to anyone. If anyone doesn't realise that then that's on them but I think most people who have opted for it would say they'd rather do it that way than lose all of that money upfront in one hit. £28 a month is much easier to swallow than over £500. Most tech sites seem to think this is a great option from Microsoft and a viable way for people to get a brand new console at a pretty good price point. Most people pay more for a two year phone contract at the end of the day but would probably be better buying the phone outright and going SIM only. Choices choices.
  3. Yeah, I guess my point was that if you have reasonable savings it makes no sense to go All Access (the £29 a month is merely perception; the second you sign up for it you really are paying 600 quid). For people who would not be able to afford other things by spending £530 in one go, I totally understand why this would appeal. Absolutely. I think it's a great option, especially for parents who maybe want to get their kids the new console but don't have £500 for Christmas. For me, I could have bought it upfront and nearly did from Argos until it went out of stock... But I like that it's just all there. 2 years, one payment, no messing about. If I don't use the console every week, I'm not bothered. Whereas if I'd spent £500 I'd probably be pressuring myself to get the most out of it otherwise I might have buyer's remorse. Whereas I don't think I'll feel that with this option. Also, I intend to buy my PS5 outright next year and this is a good way of enjoying both consoles without spending over a grand off the bat for the privilege.
  4. Because convenience. It's almost Christmas and I would rather not lose over £500 for a console, plus games pass straight off. Of course, it costs more in the long run, but most credit options do. For me, there will likely be longer periods where I'm not playing my Series X as there's not going to be game after game coming out for it whilst the console is in its infancy. Id personally feel better spending £28 a month for something that I'm not using all the time to begin with over £500 all in one go.
  5. Yup - alongside black and white. White does look nice, but I love a colourful controller.
  6. I also ordered the new blue controller from SimplyGames. Looked too tasty to not.
  7. Thanks for confirming @Ganepark32! @LegoMan1031 (formally Mike1988uk) has just been to town into GAME where they had ten more orders become available. Managed to snag us both an Xbox Series X for launch day collection with All Access. From 6am tomorrow we just need to put the reward number and pre-order number into website and apply for Klarna. Hopefully that all works and I can just go and pick it up launch morning ! Best book the day off. Hopefully the Klarna saga with Smyth's doesn't impact it.
  8. I got through with Smyth's, passed credit check, got an email confirming my DDR was set up and as that happened, Smyth's website error came up saying the item could not be added to my basket and booted me back to home page. So now I have a DDR set up for... Precisely nothing. Amazing. Twitter full of people with same problem. What an absolute shower of shite.
  9. Yeah same here. Waited over an hour, it then loaded me in to a 'we are closed for maintenance' page. Great work haha
  10. Currys sold out of the X but still have S's available. Their website queue is also over an hour wait. Madness!
  11. Smyths website just hasn't worked all morning. Whether others have managed to place an order I have no idea - but it's a total joke. I'm in a queue for over an hour still with LAME.
  12. I'm pretty sure Klarna don't credit check for lower amounts. I used it once before with ASOS. I spent £300 on new clothes for work and out of work and when I went to pay for it I was offered to spread over three months with no interest and no credit check. So I did it. The Klarna app was really good in sending notifications when payments were due and you can pay it back as quickly as you like within the 3 months. I'd definitely use them again.
  13. I'll be preordering an X for launch if I can end up getting my order in. Whilst there are no launch games (like, at all lol) there's a fair few in Game Pass I have had my eye on for ages. So I don't mind the initial console price as that will tide me over until some actual new games come out.
  14. I'm sure H-o-T got through all 3 in his lunch break.
  15. The biggest thing I'm excited for with PS5 is the controller. Think it looks so good. I imagine it being very comfortable in the hand which has always been my biggest complaint with the DS4. I'm all about improved haptics too. Although hopefully they're better than the haptics in my Sony phone, as they're dreadful for a phone costing £1000 😁.
  16. No to be fair there's a lot announced I can't wait for. But most of them are PS4 too so for me it seems silly biting just yet. Personally speaking. Once the PS5 only games start rolling out is when I'll be happy to jump on it. 🙏🏻
  17. I have no incentive to upgrade my ps4 yet. All the tatsy games I liked the look of in show case 1 are coming to PS4 (minus Ratchett) so there's very little reason to buy the new console for me yet. Maybe later next year I'll go for it.
  18. Literally only Spider-man that tickled my fancy in that line up. Was a bit bored by some of the games that just weren't really my taste. The original trailer had more games in I would buy. Decent price indeed!
  19. Yeah also a fan of the boxes. And the console design in general. I'm tempted by one, especially given the monthly cost with All Access included. Or whatever they're calling it now.
  20. Sooooo... is anyone else excited to play Sunshine again?!
  21. Good to hear it's not an RPG. Or it's a lite one aha. I've just started TLOU2 so once that's done I'll definitely dip into this as it does look great.
  22. I felt like there were more interesting looking games here than what Sony showed off. Probably an unpopular opinion. I still will go PS5 as I know the games over time will likely be better. But I liked a lot of what I saw yesterday, although the majority of it the interesting looking games were just story scenes rather than gameplay, which wasn't helpful. It was much much better than I thought it would be anyway whereas for PS5 the only thing that really hyped me was Ratchet.
  23. Does this work with a Bluetooth controller does anyone know?
  24. Yeah if there's enough people who come along at 3!
