jayseven replied to Dannyboy-the-Dane's topic in General Chit Chat
I have that pocket pint!! Got it for xmas last year. See? I'm way ahead of the times. Next year everyone will have underwear with their name on it. -
Hope it goes well for you! My stomach finally made a decision and decided it would stay put today. Cracked open a can to help with the head. Problem is I'M NOT HUNGRY... Can't be having xmas dinner too late... ok, ok, 2pm I start it. That sounds about right... right? Honey I Blew Up The Kids! F'awesome. I feel so growed upp. I want to steal Wes' posting style.

The Christmas Present Thread 2009
jayseven replied to Dannyboy-the-Dane's topic in General Chit Chat
I'll re-post my list from the other thread, because it is so awesome and hardcore. - Diary - Chocolate coins - two t-shirts - boxers (with my name on) - Stubbi - Dice Game box I'm pretty happy with that, to be honest. If course I'd like more more more, but there's practical stuff that I need (diary) and fun stuff that nobody else I know possesses (dice game thing). I'm having one of those laugh/cry moments. So that's a CD with two songs on it, then? -

I am hungover. But I Will Power Through. Ahem... Yesterday I had steak for breakfast (win) then managed to get on the wrong train and end up only an hour late for work - impressive when you consider I went to Wakefield and back... Also took crackers to work and had some fun there. Last night I went t'pub with a workmate and an ex-workmate. I was generally awesome - broke up a fight, verbally belittled some chavs, philosophised my face off, added two more people to the People Who Will Think About Joining My Commune, found two puches of tobacco drunk people left behind -- one with a chunk of green in. Bought a burger on the way home and had a weird moment with a guy who seemed EXTREMELY insulted when I asked him if he had a good night. He left so angry-looking I genuinely thought I was going to get stabbed on my way home. Heard noises in the night so locked my bedroom door. Damn santa, messing with my shit. SO TODAY! Housemate left me some sandwiches and pasties that he got for free at his workplace so I'm gobbling that for breakfast. Just unwrapped my presents and I got; A diary! Some Boxers! (with JAMES on them in case I forget who I am) Chocolate coins! A Stubbi! (to put your fag-ends in. Totally useless and not going to use) Dice Games! (looks cool. Has some funky dice in it) Two T-Shirts! Five text messages! Six Christmas Cards! That's it! My housemate was also mega aewsome and managed to do a chunk of washing up before he went home yesterday, so there's only a bit of that to do before I do the dinner (around 2pm maybe?). Feeling a leeetle rough, but going to get started on the martini in a minute. Not really sure what to do today - instinct led me to this here laptop, but I can't post anything menial on facebook -- it has to be christmas related. I also have a 12 hour shift to look forward tomorrow so I HAVE TO ENJOY TODAY! Safe bet is to turn on the telly and let that move me. Merry Christmas!

That 'rush of adrenaline' finds me in my near-sleep nightly. The temptation to proclaim my adorations to The Current Loin-based Fixation rock my cradle each time the sun finds shaaadde.... I'm continuing my course at the university of 'say nothing until it is too late'. Except at work, where I've decided to not treat the pretty customers any differently and talk to them as if they were ugly. This leads to fluttering eyelids, tittering and gauze-laden smiles. On both parts. I think girls like the confidence the most. Or something. This is the new 'sexuality' thread, isn't it?

Christmas films! I feel I've missed the majority on the telly, as the channels seem to favour showing them before the Big Day Itself. I think Elf is teh best movie in recent years (besides the soppy storyline). Die Hard has to be congratulated for taking the anger route. Tangenting a bit -- Yellow Submarine was once shown on my birthday, so I always yearn to watch the film around this time. Started watching Ninja the other night - seems to be an excellent macho OTT fightfest movie. Street Fighter was also attempted, with much LOLing and general hand-fawning-by-face.

Snow is awesome. I can't help but see how far I can slide along it on my way home. We had PROPER snow just now, for about two hours -- the really fine stuff. People keep talking about inches of snow and whatever, but I'd say we've never had more than a solirary inch worth here in sheffield (unless there's been greater downfalls in my sleep, which is likely!). Snow does make me feel all happy-for-no-reason. Is it bad that I want it to snow so bad we're all trapped in our houses 'til january?

Made a facebook event for my lubbly birdday! Somehow invited over 100 people, but the majority are people who definitely can't come but require an invite to avoid sour relations in the future. Just bit proud of my pictuuuur :P

*is tempted to go and find something on page twelve and post it in here, to see if he can get away with posting old stuff too* Sorry. TBF it's a massive thread.

I got made permenant today!! Manager was way cool - my contract is officially only 6 hours a week - essentially I could just work sundays, but she says I can effectively pick and choose any hours I want to do (once I get round to looking at my uni timetable), as well as giving me the freedom to change my mind at any point. Means I'll get in on the xmas bonus, means I get to continue knowing the dudes I work with... Very chuffed I will be signing on, however, in order to cover my rent. Served my landlord at work today! Funny as I think I owe him, like, nearly 4 months worth of rent... Also uni wants £900 by jan 8th otherwise, I dunno, they kill me? Fuckityfuckneedtofillinform. Need sex. That is all.

That's not bad grammer as such - it's a vernacular disease, but I'm sure supergrunch, who is browsing the thread, will specify further.

Jimbob; I have a similar thing. Whenever someone starts talking to me on facebook chat it halts any navigation on any tab. Each time they say a line it also stops me from typing in another tab, which means I can't browse the forums while using FB :/

Rate The Last TV Show You Saw (Spoiler Tags for Recent US Shows!)
jayseven replied to Slaggis's topic in General Chit Chat
Just finished season 2 of Sons of Anarchy -- and honestly, it's a brilliant show. A motorcycle club, formed with a communal family foundation, has over the years grown to control a small(ish) town called Charming. They have snitches in the police and their fingers in the underground business of smuggling guns from the Real IRA to drug-powered gangs. They have rivalries with the Mayans, as well as ongoing investigations from some FBI-esque group hampering their shit. This season focused on the arrival of a respectable arm of the KKK, and how they try to quash the SAMCRO by playing the gangs against each other. It's very much like Sopranos on bikes, except we don't ever get a grip on the status quo, isntead some upset or unbalance is happening. Infrequent scenes of massive violence that occur without real warning, and the general overtone of "society doesn't have to be like this" combine to make a show that I really like. While it's not Wire, the coincidences in SoA feel a lot less "mmmm... contrived!" and a lot more "wooah... no way!" which always makes for exciting viewing. Enough rambling - go watch. Season 3 starts in september so you have time to catch up.- 3920 replies

So I don't have a paper copy of the xmas tv times - but the online edition looks shiiiit! Am I missing something, or is The Great Escape not on this year? I've never watched it in full and was planning to make this The Year Of Conquest.

I fell off my high horse and rolled into this rut ages ago. Sorry if I groan, sorry if I moan. Sorry if I'm not star-struck and hopeful. Flameboy; I don't mean this to be a competition, nor need you prove yourself. I've had pretty much precisely the same relationship experience as you - knocked flat on my back just as many times. One time I liked this girl for months, and when I finally asked her if she shared my feelings she said "aw, if only you had asked me months ago! I did but now we're hardcore friends, dewd". So I understand the pressure of choosing the right moment to take the step towards the answer, but I'm just saying that from the clues you passed on from her to us it never sounded like it was going anywhere. Dannyboy; I understand what you are saying, and that to some extent having a strong moral compass and a well-founded understanding of human nature can lead to good advice. If my epigram was Word then how would we help rape victims? How could we offer guidance to people dealing with situations utterly unfamiliar? While we offer the best insights that we can, I'm just saying that the advice is better coming from those who know. In between the lines I'm assaulting anyone who isn't me because they're behaving in ways I wouldn't, and I'm guilty of having an ego that needs bruising. But while you attempt to offer a perspective to encourage debate or shed light on new ways of thinking, so do I. My cynical realist approach is just not commonly shared - or much appreciated. But essentially, if and when I seek advice, I want the blunt and the cold just as much as I need the warm and the soft.

Can I say this thread depresses me. Are men really all so desperate? What's the rush? Gizmo; what you say about 'each girl that talks to me..' I certainly used to feel like that. Perhaps I'm just getting old? Flameboy; I don't mean to be harsh but I did say that she sounded like a friend. Best thing for you to do now is effectively pretend you never asked her to marry you and have babies. Don't bring it up, don't whine about it, don't 'discuss' it. Just get back to being friends and you'll find it's way mroe powerful to have female best friends for when it comes to the next girl you like. Also we should have a new rule where you can't start your advice-giving with "even though I've had no experience with this whatsoever, and I'm not the best person to ask..." *looks at dannyboy!* ... Frankly if you have no experience with it then where are you getting your ideas from? CYNICISMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

JUST BOUGHT MY XMAS DINNER!!! Totally got cocktail sausages and bacon, a stuffed turkey joint, stuffing mix, yorkshire puds, red onions, parsnips, CRACKERS (even though I'm dining alone... ahem), a selection tin of biscuits and a bottle of MARTINI! I also have some pork chops and beef rib cutlet things for alternative crazy feast. Tomorrow I gotta get the timing down for everything but it's not looking too tricky as most of it is frozen. One problem is I have no potatoes. I'm sure housemates will have some somewhere (or I can de-branch the couple sitting in my cupboard and risk it...). Stayed up 'til 7am watching Sons of Anarchy via xbocks on a lazyboy chair. Such a mega good show. Then woke at 1am today to take housemate's books back to library for brownie points (he's black, y'see... lol!) andd... yeah. Chips n' dips and St. Helier's cider for the rest of the day. Next two days I'm looking at 9-6.30 working hours so I need to try and maximize enjoyment while minimalising pain of tomorrow. FAT CHANCE! I have a total of four xmas cards this year!

Lawl. Forgot to set tactics and got a lovely victory to get me out of the relegation zone for a bit! Need a few points against noodle and who knows... My proper team also won without set tactics... though that's in the cup and I cba with it. My change report for that team was ridiculously average. They're all STILL playing two bars above their evaluated amount... which means I have the element of surprise in my league at least.
