Run by Snow Patrol was who I was thinking of! Aside from that, I agree wholeheartedly.

Movies aside, it's worth mentioning The Comic Strip presents... anyone interested in british comedy needs to watch some of this. You have spoofs of an array of things from enid blighton to the apocalypse, via car pooling, drugs, the sweeney, and pretty much anything. It was responsible (in effect) for French and Saunders, Robbie Coltrane, The young Ones and Bottom - it influenced spaced/green wing/boosh/Jam, and it (iirc) did the rockumentary mockumentary format before This Is Spinal Tap with Bad News. yeah. Cool beans. You can get it for £14, which is 9 discs and something like 25-35 hour-long episodes of genius.

The eye-boggle guy - when he came on stage I guessed he'd do that. What a shit act. No novelty there, and nothing new. Waste of a space. Also - they said 'yes' to something like 210 acts during auditions only to have to turn away 160 before the live show? So one of those dancer guys is missing the final in place of dogs/bells/eyes. Fact is that dude could dance. But when they decided to do a 'playoff' stage I just thought that in some of those cases it'd be better to get them to do a 'duet' -- the dancer dudes (who aren't british...) would be epic in combination. I agree that singing shouldn't go far -- but this is a good medium for the non-pop voices to come through. That drama teacher who sung twinkle twinkle little start to the tune of ... that song i forget the fucking name of by the band that eludes me... was something that wouldn't be right in x-factor. I also think that the group dancers are clearly talented but definitely fit a different mold to what the show is about. There are dancing shows now and I think the itv formula could work with a dance-only show. Aside from that you have the carnival acts who blatantly do tours anyway, so are bound to be good. Can't see any one clear winner (there really shouldn't be just one as it's ridiculous to compare some of the stuff to one another). Looking forward to seeing simon cowell back in business. (yes, I'm rather fantatic about this show, apparantly!)

Oi! ... It was macaroni cheese, curry, even tinned tomatoes from a tin :P We have a conventional oven/microwave at my dad's house, and he accidentally had it on microwave with a metal tray for 35 minutes. The food was useless, of course, but aside from that there seemed to be no real harm done...

10. - Deja-vu - pyjamas - carte blanche - Respondez, sil vous plait - rendezous - cul-de-sac - feng shui - camaraderie - cafe ... French is easiest. Avoided latin. Not sure if these fit nicely enough? TBF much of the language has been stolen... Gosh darn, beaten to it. (by miles! didn't see a 2nd page) 8. Catch 22!

mr-paul :P Congrats eenuh! One question left and it's reaaally not that difficult (it's a subjective question!).

Watch Down Periscope, Loaded Weapon 1, Top Secret!, Young Frankenstein, Space Balls or Murder By Death. Mel Brooks is the man when it comes to Spoofs. of course, spoofs work best when you know what they're parodying. There's also a movie that kinda parodies Godfather/Goodfellas but for the life of me I can't remember what it's called.

Happy birthday Canand!

(Have a medal for getting the reference :P)

Buuuurn by diageo there! Him and Chairdriver get the point. (diageo; technically I think they're to be called firefighters in general) I appreciate the last two questions are pretty hard (the narcissistic one especially narrows down potential answerers), but I don't expect all questions to be answered every round.

I'll accept that. Did you know, Gjergj Kastriot Skanderbeg is the name of what used to be the world's finest brandy - but the maker (i forget if it was the general himself) took the recipe to his grave. The dual-headed eagle represents 'looking both ways' -- east and west to the invading forces they had to deal with from the byzantines and the romans over the years. (my brother-in-law is albanian) Dyson; not fully compliant with the question :P Try again if you wish.

Using google is allowed :P

it was indeed persians and greeks! Plataea aided Athens (to clear up your ambiguity). I had a brief lesson on it today but did indeed have to google the intricities :P And gonna have to accept Dazz's answer as well. Darnit.

It's not a 'class' of people. At all.

Yeah, I feel you. Hoping the special qualities give it a chance - worth the 30k risk I think!

Paj wins! 10char.

Consider Phlebas is the first in the culture series. Algebraist is completely stand-alone sci-fi. However, I have it on good word that the Culture stuff doesn't need to be read in order really. Shame about Farenheit 451 - considered it a few times but from what you say I'll just give it a miss.

Paj; I think we do show different facets to different friends, but ultimately I'm always aware that if two disparate friends met up, I'd like to still be myself and not feel too awkward being the 'me' I am with them independantly. Dan; I think I get on better with girls in general simply because I'm not a 'bloke' - but I'd say that the list would be fairly even between males and females when it comes to those I feel closest to.

Correct! (Just realised this is in the wrong place. Shoving it in playground now)

Well I'll probably buy it tomorrow if I get no word on here - be glad to shunt it your way when I'm done with it

So let's start this a-fresh, a-new, a-hoy-hoy. Rules - Anyone can play - Answer one question only, until told otherwise. - Do not attempt to answer another question or re-answer a question until the round master has told you that you were wrong. - However, if you are certain that someone has attempted a question and gotten it wrong, you are encouraged to provide your own answer before the RM has responded (so long as you haven't answered another question already that you are awaiting comment on!) - Typically, a round should have 10 questions, each should be worth a point, but a varying scoring method may be allowed if the round is worthy of it. - Bonus questions and general question format is up to the round master. They may be trivia, quiz, video, pictoral, audial, whatever. - Questions will be worth 1pt unless otherwise specified. - It is respectably expected for all involved in the game to partake in constructing a round of their own at some point. To encourage this, the round master will earn a point for providing their questions. - Games master (myself, for now) has casting vote on any uncertain issue. - Rules are bound to be amended over time!

youth with training cone, shooting power and all-rounder skill... but is a 17 2 Giving the player a chance because the profit on a sale ought to give me a week's training money. If it sells. Anyone think it'd be worth trying to make him a 20-8? :P

Considering the Stacking DLC. Opinions?
