Hell yeah all over my tits. Make it a worthy sucessor of GX and dump that weapon shit, F-Zero is all about speed. Hell, they could sell GX with an added online mode and I would buy it again. Best racing game of the last generation, IMO. Gamecube controller support is a must. And I hope "F-Zero Z" is a codename... F-Zero WX would be a better name. make it so, Amusement Vision

A fan of "Contact", I see. Beautiful, beautiful game with an outstanding soundtrack. Impressive what 2 people can accomplish with time and effort.

The filter is much more noticeable in motion; however a GAF user made a comparison with some pics: The rest is here: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=9781821&postcount=441

Yes, I see your point, in the interview they implied that they weren't capable of reproducing "a couple of effects", which leads me to think that the paper filter & bloom were probably running on VU0 and VU1. Given time to write new code (not adapted PS2 EE & GS-centric code) they probably would be able to do it on Hollywood without much work. Of course this is all guess-timates and theorising, but I really wouldn't mind seeing it being delayed so they could implement those changes. It would be a win-win situation; Okami fans would still buy it despite waiting a little more time for it; Capcom would see their game fully realized (the reason they asked RAD to port it in the first place). Nobody is in a hurry. This is a niche title that probably only the fans and the people who never had a PS2 are antecipating for. I think it would be worth, IMO. Both parts would gain something. Wishful thinking for teh win.

I'm surprised to see that nobody bumped the thread. IGN Preview: http://wii.ign.com/articles/852/852530p1.html Ready At Dawn Interview: http://wii.ign.com/articles/852/852531p1.html Some screens: There's also some videos at IGN. I have mixed feelings about this. On one hand, It's my most antecipated Wii game and I'm really happy to see it coming to the platform it was meant to be in the first place, IMO. I resisted buying the PS2 version for 20€ so I could enjoy the superior version. Ready At Dawn is a competent developer and those guys are really good at maxing out hardware, as GoW for PSP shows. Granted, I wasnt expecting Okami to be system pusher but I'm not pleased by their performance. Its nitpicking, but I'm pissed they removed the paper parchement filter. It is part of the visual style of the game and that decision reeks of laziness. RAD was chosen by Capcom so this port could be given the treatment it deserved, instead of a no-name developer, and they fell short of the expectations. Also the lack of TRUE widescreen truely disappoints me, users with CRT will apreciate the underscan, but does so would HDTV users apreciate full 16x9. The draw distance remains the same, stuff like grass still pop under your nose; bloom is also absent. And now we have something to brag about: tearing. At first I tought it was the video; then I started noticing it frequently on other videos as well. At least the colors seem more vibrant now... It is by no means a deal-breaker, I'll still buy it; but I find these little things disapointing, specially when people like Sven (from Capcom) and IGN Wii Team said it was looking better then the PS2 version. Oh well... I want my Okami fix.

Sounds pretty good, I played the hell out of PSO on Dreamcast. If this game turns out to be like that I will buy it:D.

Yup I'm getting the same vibes. Which is AWESOME, cause SOTC is one of the best games I played on PS2. Next stop, Kingdom Hearts III?Yes Please;D

QFT. I Bought this game at a budget price and it was a good choice, the game is already fairly old but it is a good port that capitalizes the Wii strenghs. Its a good game specially when Nintendo systems haven't seen a lot of GTA-like experiences. I think its a lot better than GTA actually; The 80's style was something they tried with Vice City but IMO it doesn't hold a candle against Scarface. I think this video pretty much summarizes it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I8PV2hUPBNw Al Pacino is a fucking God.

To be honest, when I heard EAD Tokyo was going to make this game I didn't feel confortable. But the truth is that the game is looking fabulous, everything from music to the general atmosphere oozes charm and inspiration. When I heard the orchestrated music from the game intro I was shivering. It feels like fan service, but in a different way and more fleshed out then, say... Twilight Princess, at least for me. And technically... well, its a benchmark for the system. EAD Tokyo is slowly becoming one of my favorite developers. Aonuma watch out:D I'll keep saying, the wait is becoming unbearable.

God exists. I cried.

Well then let me help tempting you further Jeux France removed the video, but someone from NeoGaf youtubed it: God I try not to spoil the game for me, but everytime a new video comes out I can't resist:heh:

New video, Aquatic Race!! http://www.jeux-france.com/news22028_super-mario-galaxy-nouvelle-video.html The wait is unbearable.

Firefox is such a resource eater that I wouldn't be surprised if he was the responsible for making your PC freeze. My suggestion is trying THIS. One day of usage was enough to convert me:p

Well, there are a lot of free applications for Windows that let you make some clean editing. Jahshaka, ZS4, Virtual Dub are some good examples. Personally, I love Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere, and Imovie is pretty decent too, but neither of those fall in the categories you mentioned. Hope that helps.

True, its very easy to pick IGN, and the reason is very simple. Other media outlets have come to accept the machine (well, most of them) for what it is. Matt on the other hand, trying to show himself not biased/fanboy, still continues the bashing. And that's fine by me, bitching about graphics is a good thing specially when it brings it to the attention of the developers. But the problem is he doesn't stop there, he actually adventures himself in a realm he doesn't understand; the technical one. And the bullshit rolls from there on, even when he is proven wrong by developers. "Spewing" facts and figures isn't the wrong atitude, because they are supported by real world facts and numbers; making outlandish remarks is. And believing developers who have never worked on the platform until now; developers who don't know that a shader is a glorified name for combiners and can pretty much be achieved in any (fairly) recent hardware; is just as bad. EDIT: beaten.

Gran Turismo for Wii confirmed.

Oh my god is this a fucking joke?

Yes, believing that those tools would solve everything is a mistake; It is a diferent arquitecture and as such it must be treated differently. I was also aware that the TEV has now 16 stages, at least according the some older patents and some developers, and those imply that it is no longer *just* the same pipeline it was on GC. Problem is... who are the developers who are going to exploit it? It crosses my mind names like Factor 5, Capcom, Amusement Vision, Konami(the team making Dewis), Square... Nintendo is actually the one to blame about, as they don't release enough info, despite the fact that they are now trying to reverse that situation, by giving workshops and demonstrating how some effects might be achieved (like fur shaders). Companies like RARE had those informations years ago. Hell, Star Fox Adventure is technically more advanced than most Wii games:heh:. Fact is most developers nowadays have a preset way of thinking, anything different from standard arquitectures is overlooked and therefore inferior. Not much developers are going to make low-level optimizations to try to exploit the hardware in its full capacity... As for Umbrella, I'm surprised that it doesn't look better then it does. Considering RE4 was running on a machine that has roughly half of the RAM and clockspeeds that the Wii has (without even considering other optimizations/bottlenecks removed)... I see no reason why this shouldn't look better. I'm sure Capcom is up to the challenge, and they will take some of placeholders they have there:). As for the world geometry and models that they've used on Lost Planet and Dead Rising, I think none of them should have to be downgraded if a port were to be made on Wii. Most of those models don't have very high polygon counts... Shaders take care of the rest of the detail. And considering the exotic texturing capabilities that Flipper/Holywood have... Wii wouldn't have that problem as well. As for discussing it here, well... I tryed to restrain myself of going into it simply because most people don't care about it, and generally most threads that have technical conversations create some flame wars (specially when it comes to Wii):p. (/rant mode off)

Indeed, certainly that effort would have to be made, but it was already confirmed in an interview that some teams are already making proprietary tools to convert programmable shaders to fixed function calls... And I know that Framework was made with multi-core processors in mind, but that doesn't mean that Lost Planet on PC isn't going to run on a single processor, (not with the same performance, though). If the console continues to sell like this, I think sooner or later that effort is going to be made to assure the ports from the other systems... The results wouldn't be the same, of course, but at least it would allow a toned-down version of those games. Anyway, that's not relevant in this discussion:). The truth is, Capcom has no excuse, I hope they apply some better textures to those models till it comes out. Apart from that, the inclusion of co-op is pretty sweet.
-
Indeed, but the comment I made about the Framework engine wasn't related to the comment I made about Umbrella (totally off-topic), as in this case the RE4 is the engine that makes the most sense. I was just stating that I would like to see a custom version of the Framework engine, I certainly think it is doable, of course taking in account that this is a non-HD console. Anyways, totally random, off-topic comment.
-
Characters textures still seem like they're placeholders, with very low resolution. The levels seem okay, though. Still, I'm expecting more from Capcom. A customized version of Framework would be welcome.

You are right, at least in my case. I spend a lot of time on the boards through the day, and usually I'm not signed in (yes, I'm lazy enough not to hit the button of the password manager:heh: ). About the guests and lurkers... Well, this is a Nintendo fan site, so it makes sense that most of them come regularly to check out Wii news and such. Most of them won't bother signing up just to see some news and opinions.
