  1. Woot! USA PS3 60GB in as new condition get! managed to get one with Motorstorm, and one Bluray - Underworld Evolution, all for around £360 which I don't think is too bad considering the varying prices Pal PS3 60GB's are going for, the ones I've seen are selling for even more than I paid for my US one. :S Picked up a HDMI 1.3 a cable while I was at it and a cheap copy of Ninja Gaiden Sigma. A couple of questions though, is there anything I need to know about the US PS3 thats different to the Pal PS3? I went for a US one due to it's superior backwards compatibility, I know it's region free for PS3 games and region coded for PS2 games / most Bluray but is there anything else I need to know about it specs wise? Also, it'll have some data allready on it from the previous owner, he said he's updated it to the lastest firmware though, so I assume all I will need to delete is his PSN tag, game saves and net connection data and no need for a complete factory reset or anything?
  2. Amen to that, and hmm wouldn't a US version work like a PAL version anyway? I can't really see any real drawbacks...
  3. I don't know if this is old or not but it made me lol so... http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/413257 Edit - ah just checked, seems it is but still worth a watch. :P
  4. I've just completed the "Eden" stage in Rez ^^ <3 that final boss battle = made of epic.
  5. Imo, it had soul but once it was all done and completed it felt like you'd just played through a larger version of OOT which is no bad thing but the series definitely needs something new which will no doubt come across in the next installment. Back on topic - My quest in obtaining a 60GB USA PS3 continues, but with any luck I have have one in under a week, if not I'll keep trying but will eventually probably give up and just wait for the PAL 80GB Metal Gear Solid 4 PS3 bundle.
  6. ah I assumed that June 11th was just for Europe and that US would get it months before due to Europe getting shafted on a release date yet again. But either way June 11th is cool, gives me time to actually get the machine. and hmm yes thats another plus about the PS2 games as I hate borders, as for RPG's hmm there may be a couple, if there were any US exclusives in the Tales of... series then definitely.
  7. Ah cool thanks m_fergy, Dom, Jordan I think I'll still go for it if I can get hold of one, because for PS3 games clearly it's good as can get US versions earlier, PS2 games... I don't want to play a huge amount of them but I think a lot of NTSC games tend to be even cheaper than PAL? I may also at some point wish to pick up one or two NTSC only games so thats cool, Blu Ray... I don't watch a huge amount of films atm at all so thats not so bad, could get some releases earlier and again slightly older films will no doubt be cheaper. Other than that I think I'll be good to go, unless theres anything I need to know about stuff in the settings menus that I would need to change etc due ot it being an import, I would assume they are largely the same though regardless of region. Assuming I get it, I'll want to pick up MGS4 in March? (I heard that was the US release date, unless I'm wrong?) I guess the best place to get that from would be VGplanet, play-asia etc?
  8. I'm actually considering going this route too now, I had a look around and might be able to get one for a good price, is it all USA 60GB's that are full backwards compatible though? Also I read that it's completely region free (for PS3 and PS2 games I assume and not Bluray films) and that you can use a UK power supply with it so no need for a step-down converter. If all these things are true then are there any downsides to getting a USA PS3? O.o cos I can't see any atm lol.
  9. To date I've completed... Metroid Prime - 3+ times at least (Normal x1 100% items / scans) (Hard x2 100% items / scans) Metroid Prime 2 : Echoes - 2 times (Normal x1 100% items / scans) (Hard x1 100% items / scans) Metroid Prime 3 : Corruption - 1 time only (Normal x1 100% items / scans) One day I plan to go back and complete Metroid Prime 3 on Hard mode and I will note that my files on the original Metroid Prime were obtained a few years back, when I didn't have a job, so I had a lot more time on my hands, but I enjoyed each and every file I have played on each game in the series. My second 100% hard file on Metroid Prime I think I obtained within 24 hours, playing almost solidly and got a time of around 10 - 12 hours which I was rather pleased with at the time.
  10. You just need the gamerpics afaik, I only downloaded them on the off-chance that I might decide to play Halo 3 online during that tournament time.
  11. Yep got it, thanks Jordan so basically I'm better off waiting for the 80GB model to be released in the UK and hope that we get that Metal Gear Solid 4 bundle, that way I'll have the software backwards B/C, the largest HDD available currently for it, and of course MGS4, sounds good to me.
  12. Hmm so the 60GB version is the only one with "proper" backwards compatability or is that just sotware too? And if we didn't get the 80GB here does that mean that we will be getting it when that MGS4 pack comes out? If so and if the B/C is the same as the 60GB one then I may wait and get an 80GB, if not... the hunt for a 60GB one continues!
  13. Anyone know when that bundle is out in the UK? O.o same day as MGS4 is released I assume, in which case I guess it won't be available to pre-order online for a few weeks yet, just checked Play.com, nothing there, I thought the 80GB PS3 was out... or is it still due for release? (backwards compatible like the 60GB I assume) I'm not exactly 100% clued up on those details, all I know is I'd really like a PS3 once theres a game out on it that I would "really" like to play and MGS4 be that game.
  14. Ah... DMC4 = my first DMC game so I assumed that 4 was the latest chronologically?
  15. I'd like this to be released too, one thing thats been bothering me though... whats with the "60.000" in the top left-hand corner of all of the screens? I don't think that was in the original, unless I'm mistaken... O.o just struck me as odd is all.
  16. *back on topic* Mario Kart Wii... visually it looks like double dash 1.5, functionally it seems like Mario Kart DS 1.5, gameplaywise it's looking to be Mario Kart 1.5 i.e elements from all previous games with some brand new twists. The additions don't seem revolutionary exactly but from an update point of view, this could be the best one yet. Everything seems decent, as long as it controls well and delivers all thats been promised, I'll be happy.
  17. [rant] The answer is simple; for "Big" multiformat releases that happen to make there way onto the Wii are generally designed around Xbox 360 / PS3 first, then whatever parts of the game the developers feel like porting to the Wii, they do and whatever features they feel like omitting, they do so. Got a fully featured FPS with an online mode for up to 32 players, downloadable maps, leaderboards etc? check, works on 360 check, works on PS3 check, works on Wii... sorta... no HDD... friend codes... oh well... How about we port the single player portion of the game over to Wii, add some 11th hour waggle controls and some half decent I.R recgonition and call it "the definitive single player version" yeah that works. Games designed around the Wii hardware work best on it, games designed around other formats which are then ported to it can only ever be substandard - half decent at the very best. Most people have realised now that if they want the best of both worlds they buy a Wii for exclusive games and an Xbox 360 / PS3 for multiformat games. If more people would resign themselves to that fact, don't buy the Wii version cut down ports and just bought the exclusive games for it, the devs would get the message eventually. Sad fact is people will still buy ports with waggle, devs still make money out of them this continue to make them, it's just an endless self perpetuating cycle of pointlessness. Buying Wii versions of multiformat games where devs just haven't bothered means your just sitting on the fence giving devs the message that we actually want this kind of third rate rubbish as well as the exclusive games but on the other hand complaining about it as well. Just to recap, the answer is simple but not everyone likes it... Wii = exclusive games Xbox 360 / PS3 = big multiformat games. End of... [/rant]
  18. I still think not including a proper world map (i.e one that you can explore was a mistake, unless they have like hidden sections that you can click on that only appear at certain points in the game, that would make up for it... slightly... Either that or the main environments need to be massive or at least contain loads of hidden secrets to keep players coming back even after they've beaten the game... *sigh* I love the original Tos and I can't help but feel that somehow this is going to become a vastly inferior sequel, prove me wrong Namco!
  19. Completed DMC4 on Son of Sparta difficulty today loved the extra cutscene at the end, won't go into detail but hopefully that sets things up nicely for DMC5... (you know it will happen :P )
  20. Awesome Tales of Vesparia on 360 = guarenteed purchase from me.
  21. It's simple, no F-Zero would mean no Wipeout, granted Wipeout is "good" but it's not as awesome as F-Zero imo.
  22. Isn't that first screen set in the beach area at the end of the first game?
