Same... *goes back to camping underneath the letterbox*
-
Happy Super Smash Bros. Ultimate launch day! I hope everyone who got it either early or digital enjoys it.
-
Really? I'm surprised at that, every cartridge I've tried in my Super NT works first time. But then I have only tried three Super Nintendo carts so far, a Super GameBoy 2 and a handful of GameBoy carts. Which ones wouldn't work?
-
Well, that'd work!
-
That's OK... I'll join you all next time. I'll find something to do with those extra two hours... *sets up camp in front of the letter box at 9PM sharp in preparation for the arrival of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate*
-
In! Going physical for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate so I won't be getting it until tomorrow at some point and I won't be playing it until tomorrow night unless it arrives very early.
-
You mean, the Bubble Bobble theme doesn't just go around in your head all the time by default? Oh... that must be just me then!

Just about everything in that article struck a chord with me. I've always been a fan of Chris Scullion, I know some bits of ONM were questionable at times but I always feel that he comes across as an honest guy who just loves games. Anyway, especially more recently I've been interested in what he's doing so thank you for bringing the new site design and article to my attention. I've been subbed to his YouTube channel for a bit and he just posted this which I'm currently enjoying watching... Seems like it's a long video but for the amount of games covered, it's a genius format really, just talk about and play each game for a minute and then move on to the next. It gives anyone new just enough information to see if they might be interested in playing these games and it gives anyone who remembers them a good old bit of nostalgia. His general commentary on the titles is excellent so far.

PlayStation Classic Announced (3rd Dec 2018)
S.C.G replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in Other Consoles
There are plenty of PlayStation Classic reviews I could have posted in here over the past few days, but I feel like this one is the most definitive. I'll go as far to say that I've got more enjoyment out of watching video reviews of the machine than I ever would out of owning or playing the thing. Yes, I wish that it could have been better, but the reality is that it isn't, which is a shame. I'm just trying to make the best out of a bad situation, while Sony is making the worst use of open-source emulation. Out of interest... has having the PlayStation Classic in the spotlight made anyone want to play certain PS1 games? It's certainly made me appreciate the PS1 games which I do have and I feel like it won't be long before I decide to play a few. -
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe League 2018 (Final results now in)

I have at least one gold kart part... possibly two... we can mix and mis-match? Right? R-r-right? -
Ah... yeah, I had to order mine seperately at the time, I should have mentioned that. You will be able to use the usb plug that comes with it, you'll just need an adapter that goes on the end of it... ...but it's probably easier to just make sure you've got an alternative USB power adapter that has exactly the same voltage rating as I put in bold in one of the posts above. I also did this because it's almost impossible to read the voltage information off of the adapter due to the finish and how it only shows up in good light conditions. So I thought that might save you a bit of time in any case.

Well, all of the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate stuff I ordered from the UK Nintendo Store has shipped. I'm not going to hold out for early delivery, if it does arrive on Thursday though... is it even worth playing it before midnight? Weren't there some accounts that got banned for playing it early even though they were legitimate retail copies?
-
Ah that sucks. I guess now that Analogue have officially hit the big time with their range, import fees are probably going to be more standard. I mean they're selling special editions of the Super NT at the moment plus they have the Mega SG on the horizon as well. I'm pretty sure that I didn't get an import fee warning on mine though, there was a piece of paper with it, but it looked to me like it was an invoice saying it was all paid for. I only ordered mine within the past couple of months as well, so this has to be a recent change, either that or luck of the draw.

Gaming Podcasts: A Thread about Listening to Others
S.C.G replied to Goron_3's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Oh yeah, I still love the Garage setup, but it will be good for them to have their own studio I reckon, so long as it all goes to plan. There are pros and cons to both... the pros for the garage setup were that it was at Brandon's house, more control over everything in there. Cons would also be that it's at Brandon's house... I mean, he seems pretty cool about it all but I bet he'll be glad to have his garage back for a bit plus I guess they've outgrown it. Pros for the studio setup would include an increased scope on what they can do, plus it will presumably be easier once they get into a routine. Cons of a studio setup, well... I don't know where the location is relative to the garage but it might be further for them to travel, plus hopefully the new place is pretty secure. Those would be the things I'd be thinking about, all the equipment, in a studio where you can't really keep an eye on it all the time but I guess it's a trade-off. Regarding their content, I love the Podcast (most of the time) Frame Trap is great, Friend Code is fun (sometimes) Box Peek is great, the Reviews are fantastic. I watch Easy Update most weeks, Huber Syndrome every week. (unless it's about Wrestling or other Sports, TV shows I'm not bothered about) Fiasconauts I haven't watched in a good while, sometimes it can be really good, they are more of a put on in the background video for me though, if at all. Whenever they have one of Don's video series or one-offs I always watch those especially stuff like The Busted Trifecta or Bride of Pinbot. (that one about the Pinball Machine) I can't get into Tabletop Escapades and I only sometimes watch Reaction Shots but I love that both of those shows exist. Wow... just reflecting on all the individual pieces of content there, that's a heck of a lot and that's not even including the Patreon exclusive stuff. Anyway, exciting times indeed and I just hope that whoever watches Easy Allies, be it just the odd video here and there or everything, Patreon or not, that they enjoy it. They've certainly provided me with more than enough hours of enjoyment over the past... two - three years. Love & Respect. -

Ah, that was such a great video to watch, especially when you know that you've been part of it since Easy Allies first started. I've been a subscribed Patreon for as long as I can remember (I only support EZA and N-E financially each month at the moment) even through the tougher months, it's worth it. Indeed, I'm really trying to save money at the moment but I shall keep both of my Patreon pledges for as long as the site keeps taking my credit card details. I get a lot of joy from this place and EZA so the money is just a number but it's nice to see the positive effect that sustained financial support can have in the long term. It's about more than that though, anyone who regularly tunes into any of their videos has helped to make them a success as well, especially if they are shared as well. For the amount of content they make, I don't even watch all of it but I still feel like I get more than enough enjoyment out of them on a regular basis. The gaming landscape is a lot better having Easy Allies as a part of it, I feel that their community and the N-E community are both fantastic to be a part of. Here's to the future of both! -
A fair review from Easy Allies, hopefully the game will be patched across all formats at some point.

Colin Farrell Team Racing Nitro-Fueled 21st June 2019

I'm definitely grateful for this hopefully getting a standalone remastered release. I wonder if the game will be updated to include online? -
No worries, basically so long as you made sure it was the same voltage rating as the adapter that comes with it, you'd be fine is what I was trying to say. I checked them all to make sure, as you don't want to have not enough power and you definitely don't want to have too much when it comes to adapters. Anyway, I did an image search and... If you have this one... ...then all is well! If you have this one... ...then I'd use this one for your NES/SNES mini as it seems to be better for it.
-
Oh yeah! I totally meant to mention that as well... So, the Super NT comes with a micro USB to USB and a power brick... but, the brick has that two-prong connector by default which would mean you'd need to convert the plug end. What I did instead was just use another USB power brick, interestingly, the ones that Nintendo were selling with/for the NES/SNES mini before they went to the smaller ones. I used one of these because weirldy enough they gave power issues with the NES/SNES mini but are perfect for the Super NT and I'll be using the other for the Mega SG. I've just done an extensive search though and I can't find the original power supplies they were selling but they were listed as... Nintendo Classic Mini: Nintendo Entertainment System Power Adapter But that was at the end of 2016... also these power supplies were 5V ___ 2A - - - Whereas the newer ones are... 5V ___ 1.5A - - - The older, larger USB adapters are great for the Analogue Super NT (they are the same voltage and wattage as the supplied adapter) The newer, smaller USB adapters are great for SNES/NES mini (they are the same voltage but not the same wattage as the supplied adapter) You could likely just find a pin adapter for the supplied USB brick or find a USB brick with the same parameters as the old adapter listed above though. I hope this helps.

I'm sorry but not sorry if my decision to purchase both of these consoles influenced you in any way. I can safely say that you won't regret your purchases, I've been playing on the Analogue Super NT for about six weeks now and I love it. So much so in fact, that it has made me dig out most of my SNES collection and even buy a few more for the shelf and to play. If you want any tips on settings for the Super NT then just let me know, the other night I found out how to run PAL games at NTSC by changing it on the go. This has proved to be game-changing for Super Castlevania IV as it makes it play at the same standard (only better) then on the SNES mini... ...mind you, I did play at least half the game at PAL speed and it was still perfectly playable. There are other options as well for the display and the sound which are worth taking into account, also... you can use a Super Game Boy 2 on it flawlessly.

PlayStation Classic Announced (3rd Dec 2018)
S.C.G replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in Other Consoles
For what it's worth, the money I "saved" by not buying the PS Classic, went straight on a boxed SNES game which I know I'm definitely going to play and enjoy having in my collection. I'm really trying to be selective about what I buy now, because over the last few years, I feel like I've just wasted money on certain modern titles that I haven't even played. Of course, for some games that day 1 purchase has supported the developer/publisher... so there's that but I definitely can't keep up doing that with every game. In addition to "just about keeping up" with modern gaming on some level, I think I'm veering more to the retro side of things with each passing day. I'll continue to enjoy PS1 games but it will be just a select few physical games (with a few downloaded ones from the PS Store for PS3 etc) on mostly original hardware. I'd also say, just buy what makes you happy, PAL/NTSC, Expensive Retro titles, or "free" PS Plus/Xbox Live Gold/Nintendo Online titles. It's all fine so long as you're enjoying playing Personally though... I plan to take a leaf out of your book and just make some more time for games! (because let's face it, I really do need to) -
PlayStation Classic Announced (3rd Dec 2018)
S.C.G replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in Other Consoles
And I suppose this is something which Sony couldn't really mention due to the open-source nature of the emulator being used on the PlayStation Classic. Technically it comes under "reverse-engineering" or whatever, but then, that's moreorless what Sony have done with the emulator itself, I suppose? (but they are the license holders to the games etc) I think this is one instance where the community will make the machine "better", one thing you can say for the SNES Classic is that it's fantastic out of the box... I mean, it had its emulation software developed by NERD who also made a lot of VC software and more besides, the games ran well, you were only limited by number of games. Sony could release a new version next year but at this point... it's probably best to just leave it as a "gift" to the community at this point, for what it is. I still wouldn't advise or endorse* anyone buying one of these mini consoles with anything other than what they originally shipped with but at least the 60Hz option is in there. You just know that if it's easy to do though, that people will probably add stuff to their PS Classic systems. *N-Europe doesn't endorse piracy of any kind, especially if the games are still being actively sold by the original license holders, as is the case with the SNES Mini Classic and Playstation Classic. (Game preservation is a whole other topic however) -
Well, no matter which way the vote goes, I have actually now just bought a copy of the one game out of the three that I didn't own physically. It was already kind of on the cards for a while anyway, mind but I just so happened to find the perfect seller, selling the perfect boxed and complete copy of it. That's probably the last game I'll purchase this year now... aside from Smash of course but that's agiven. So choose what you like, I'm ready to play them all either way. (Or I will be when the game hopefully arrives safely soon anyway)
