just realised that the image i linked to isn't the full version, you can find that here. http://pub.virgindigital.com/content/Images%5CGB%5CW%5CS%5CM1603%5CCOMPENTRYUK%5Ccompimage.jpg pretty interesting that the image i linked to originally didn't even include the pet shop boys reference, and yet you found it anyway sanchez.

http://www.stereogum.com/img/music_wallpaper.jpg there's references to 75 different bands and singers in this image, can you find them all? so far i've found alice in chains, smashing pumpkins, guns n roses, eels, the pixies, the lemonheads and eminem. anyone know who the queen with dildo guns is a reference to?

it's that time of year again... name your five favourite albums this of 2005; and aswell as that an "unearthed gem", an album over 10 years old that you've only just discovered this year. here's my selection(in no particular order) CoCoRosie - Noah's Ark their second album in as many years, i just can't stop listening to it. if you like experimental music, especially along the lines of devendra banhart and joanna newsom, you should definitely get this. Girls Aloud - Chemistry this is the most "pop" album i have ever listened to, and yet it references more genres and periods of music than any indie band i've heard this year. i know it's easy to look down your nose at them, but you're missing out if you do. Sufjan Stevens - Illinois i have to say this album just floored me. in 2005, an all-american christian is the last person i'd expect to come out with one of the most tender and forward-thinking albums in years, but he did. more than anyone else on my list, i would recommend sufjan stevens to anyone and everyone. Diane Cluck - Oh Vanille incredibly pure-sounding folk music, she has the most striking voice i've ever heard. a brilliant songwriter, her music has soul. MIA - Arular i really don't know what to say about this album, it's just a mish-mash of styles. if you like the go! team, annie or gwen stefani you'll love this album. UNEARTHED GEM Patti Smith - Horses I've only started listening to it in the past month, but it's just phenomenal. Pretty much any woman in indie today can be traced back to this album. everyone should have this in their collection, it's genius. p.s) please give explanations for your choices too

there's no beating a medium steak, if it weren't for the whole heart attack thing i'd eat it all day long.

a dvd video camera would be nice. the only other thing i really want is one of the intel ibook's, but they're not due to be released until january at the earliest.
-
exactly. the ignore list is there for a reason.

cubechris and hm-fusion are one and the same. 5/5, just because you made me laugh so much on woosel radio. -
you're all mentalists.
-
you pig! i'm the same though, we've stopped buying cookie crisp cereal because i can eat the whole box in one sitting
-
hurry up with the cards already! i can't wait to see bowser57's one smalldude- no need to worry, i don't actually care, that thread just amused me. you need to stop reading too much into people's posts.
-
girls aloud. their new album's just leaked and it's brilliant. annie's album was another pop guilty pleasure, but to be honest i don't feel guilt about it, they're both better than most of the albums i've heard in the past year.

i though that was the whole point of a promo video. or is this another example of how sony will never care for us like nintendo do? SONY HAVE NO SOOULL!!!!1!!11
-
hehe, i'm coming to the end of the first episode now and i love it. "and cubechris is gaaay!"
-
"you've fucked up for the second time guy" "what a shitty podcast, they're all turning off now" loves it! i have to say i was expecting this to be bollocks but it's not p.s) guy, stop letting him bully you! edit - i just realised who you remind me of, it's adam & joe
-
no thankyou, not my cup of tea. but they do seem more experimental than a lot of mainstream metal, so 7/10 portishead
-
haver, do you use podcasts often? can you recommend any good free ones? so far the only one i've found that i like is happy tree friends, but that's a video anyway, so not really radio podcast.
-
i still can't get my head round podcasts, what exactly are they? edit - forget that, i've just clicked the podcast link in itunes for the first time, worked it out already hehe

t-wat always struck me as being a tame cuss word, along the lines of bugger or blimey. i'm glad the c-word isn't allowed, i find it offensive, and in some twisted logic i like having a taboo word reserved for special occasions.
-
look again, there's a sample there. edit - next to good friday there's a music note. there's not much point posting in this thread if you're not going to listen to the music you're rating, silly. edit again - fair enough platty if you think so, but i felt a buzz from franz ferdinand, interpol, the libertines and bloc party. to me bands like maximo park, hard-fi and the subways sound like they're trying to jump on a bandwagon, and even if their songs are technically good i feel like ive heard it all before.

Nintendo Advertising Hotting Up For Christmas in UK
dukkadukka replied to Mimternet's topic in General Chit Chat
sony have always used weird advertising remember this one? it draws the more attention if your adverts make the viewer think, rather than just tell them to buy something, and it's worked wonders for sony so far.
