  1. play.com for me.
  2. mike-zim, i don't think that's what he's saying. no one is forcing the church to change, they have a choice to modernise or not. if they don't, however, their numbers will keep on dwindling. if the church wants to remain relevant it has to change.
  3. http://www.chilloutzone.de/files/04102704.html my brother showed me this today, fatties ftw!
  4. yeah, gay people have been allowed to adopt for a few years already over here. so until today they'd be allowed to raise a child together but still their relationship wouldn't be recognised by law lol.
  5. pestneb - care to enlighten us what that conclusion is?
  6. the original is on bbc2 right now if anyone's interested.
  7. by wednesday gays all over the uk will be able to get their relationships legally recognised. it's basically marriage in everything but the name, so that christian extremists wouldn't kick up the same fuss as they have done in america. i personally think it's a good idea, long overdue. what does everyone else think?
  8. oh my gosh, loads of suggestions! thanks ever so much guys i'll use this thread as a reference whenever im off to blockbusters
  9. gillian mckeith, the enjoyment she gets from poking around in people's excrement is just plain weird.
  10. oh my god what the hell has happened to this thread? if the views presented in the last page are the alternative to political correctness then i am all for the winterfest. i'm disappointed in some of you
  11. i used to get really bad seasonal affective disorder, but i got to a point when i just had to get over myself. everyone gets into bad moods but you just need to get yourself out of it rather than dwelling in your own misery. if life for you really is that shitty, then feeling sorry for yourself really isn't going to improve anything.
  12. he's right, this is a brilliant film. i did find that the talk of drug companies and and politics got a bit too complex at times, but other than that a hugely enjoyable film. i'm sure we've spoken to each other before about waking life, but i was just wondering if you'd seen any other similar movies worth recommending? slacker was great, but pales in comparison to waking life. any other philosophical movies around? it's kinda creepy you said adaptation, because i'm downloading the (legal) torrent right now, it sounds like my cup of tea.
  13. we now know that guy's dad is a little bit scary. good to see you back *hugs* you're never leaving again!
  14. they really are taking a lot from osx's aesthetics, good move imo. if it's not too buggy, i might get a vista laptop if the intel ibook's disappoint.
  15. yeah, i've seen donnie darko and sin city, two of my favourite films. i'll watch life aquatic tonight then, looking forward to it by the way, has everyone seen team america? it was the inspiration for my username, it made me laugh more than any other film has. jonst, i've been meaning to watch saw for ages and ages. like city of god aswell, i jsut never got round to seeing it. i'll make sure i rent them both next time i'm down blockbusters. mariosmentor, i didn't realise everything is illuminated was out yet? i loved the book, so hopefully the film will live up to my expectations. fair do's to elijah wood, he's nabbed some great roles since being a hobbit.
  16. i'll definitely get botox when im older, maybe as a 30th birthday present. cheek implants to define my cheekbones would be good too, but nothing too drastic. when i'm an oap i'd love to look like jackie stallone, it'd give me so much amusement
  17. you're twisting my point. we're not accountable, but we should never forget. pc is sometimes abused but there's no point even considering the possibility that it's heart isn't in the right place.
  18. cool runnings is brilliant! as are the blair witch and battle royale, i keep on forgetting to watch the pianist, even though we've had it in our house for about a year. the rock sounds good, i think i'll watch that too. anyone seen the life aquatic or adaptation? my brother bought them last week, are they worth watching? i'm a huge fan of bill murray so i think i'll watch it whatever yuo say actually
  19. the slave trade is definitely something we should remember, and just because i'm disgusted at the racism that black people suffered does not mean i'm not shocked at what's happening in africa now. i think we all agree that political correctness can get out of hand, but i just don't think that we should therefore devalue the whole movement and forget all the good things that have come from it. basically the gist of my point is that it's silly for the white middle-class of britain to refuse to compromise some of their own rights when we have so greatly compromised the rights of so many others in our history. the abuses that others have suffered at our hands should not be forgotten, this is about more than just christmas lights.
  20. but where exactly does one draw the line? there have been cases before where parents/legal guardians have gotten away with child abuse because of the ambiguities of the law. it's great that you had parents that knew where discipline ended and abuse started, but not everyone is so privileged. you and many others in this thread seem to be speaking from a very precious middle-class perspective, seemingly unaware of the wonders the civil rights movements of the past century. your life may be a tiny smidgen harder but i doubt you've ever experienced anything like blacks, muslims or gays did before political correctness came to the fore. you need to rememeber that your inconvenience is nothing compared to that which the victims of the slave trade suffered.
  21. i know people who were abused as children and it fucked them up a hell of a lot more than not getting a smack does. it's pretty sad that some adults know no other way to discipline their children other than physical violence.
  22. hey, i've only recently started to enjoy films a lot, and i was just wondering what classic films there are that i absolutely must see. any literature on the development of the industry would also be cool. my favourite films of late are i heart huckabees, lost in translation, 21 grams, garden state, waking life and eternal sunshine of the spotless mind if that's any help. i also enjoyed mean girls, miss congeniality 2 and big momma's house so don't be put off recommending me trash. thanks in advance
  23. thanks guys i'd completely forgotten about the tim burton & depp partnership.
  24. grebe, i'm sure you'd have better discussions with people if you swore less. when every other word you type is an expletive it dilutes your original point. and by the way, new found glory are a pop group.
  25. happy birthday hun!
