  1. maybe it'd be best to merge this with one of the current christmas threads? three at the top of the main page seems a bit much.
  2. i applaud you cheets if i could afford to, i would've done exactly the same.
  3. yeah i suppose, but it's happening less often. i'm glad you mentioned elton because he's a good example. twenty years ago someone like him had to marry a woman, and today he can marry a man, and not only is it not frowned upon but it's celebrated.
  4. i totally agree with your point about invisibility, but i can't say i agree that there's no unity. look at how many gay pubs, clubs, bars and cafes there are in britain. then again though, any subculture gay people have is more artificial than a muslim or carribean community in britain, where these people are immersed in a culture form birth. maybe that's why some gay people feel uncomfortable about dscovering their sexuality, because when they realise their sexuality in a way they're given a new identity in society.
  5. hear hear! show me a worthwhile poll and i'll eat my hat *dukkadukka realises she doesn't own a hat*
  6. i know you're a mod and all, but i'll wait for a more reliable source before i believe it. still, i've always expected the launch to be around then anyway.
  7. that's pretty awesome! i don't think the kamo logo works as part of it, i reckon it'd be better off without it.
  8. sorry coo, but it's closer to one in fifty, last i heard the figure's around 2% of the population(in britain at least). if the figure were closer to one in six i doubt homophobia would even exist.
  9. haver's right, learn everything you can in school otherwise you'll regret it later. it's history, religion and psychology i wish i'd worked harder at. the more you learn about any one subject the more it bleeds into everything else. i'm studying art & art history i university now, and alwas knew that's what i wanted to do so art was the only subject i was ever motivated in. only since geting to university have i realised how important it is to have a broad knowledge. everything is connected, don't let the structure of high school education make you forget that. sorry, i just went completely off on a tangent there.
  10. merry christmas everyone! i hope you all get the products you demanded
  11. i don't know why, but russia has always seemed appealing to me. africa aswell, zimbabwe if it weren't so messed up.
  12. i agree wholeheartedly, but can't help feeling that odwin's gotten a little bit scary since he became mod.
  13. is it cantona that kicked an old lady in the face?
  14. pestneb, often it is the smallest groups who make their voice heard the most. muslim extremists in britain are definitely a minority, but i wouldn't call it strange to feel threatened by the attacks they made in london.
  15. it is mike, but suppression by religious groups has always been one of the biggest issue for gay rights worldwide so it's understandable that the topic has gone off in this direction. i don't mind, as long as no one starts flaming eachother then i don't give a rat's ass.
  16. i see your point ashley, you just need to look at american politics in the bush era to see how christian extremism can stunt a nation.
  17. the one thing that all religious extremists have in common is that they manipulate their religion's holy texts into propaganda to preach hatred. i don't know if there's an appropriate equivalent in the qur'an but the bible tells christians to "love thy neighbour", it's unfortunate that a tiny minority choose to ignore this.
  18. i'm going to forget that i totally hate the subways for the rest of the post... congratulations! that's awesome, i wish some of my favourite bands would do the same. i can guess how you feel, i would literally die if i found my name on one of cocorosie's records
  19. the doo-doo-do-doo riff is really annoying, but other than that out of town is a really good song you guys ahave a lot of potential, 8/10
  20. but surely it can be changed over time? 50 years ago if you told people about gay marriage they'd laugh at you, then probably kill you.
  21. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/4497416.stm aww bless
  22. mario114, my mother has always been a single parent and ive never felt the need for any male input. sure, it wouldve been nice for her if she'd had someone to help her sometimes but it makes no difference to me if the second parent is a man or a dyke. i don't see why gay adoption is even being debated, it's been legal for a few years now and isn't going to change. if i had to give one of my children up, i'd much rather it was adopted by a gay couple than left on its' own in a children's home. but back on topic, i'm glad that most of you are sensible about this (except for pestneb's incredibly amazingly shocking views which cannot be expressed lol). congratulations by the way faz, i'm happy for you
  23. i'm sorry, you carry on! i hope this makes you feel better
  24. all i want for christmas is yoo-oooo shutup and die already, mariah.
  25. meik, your obsession with 24 is seriously starting to worry me now...
