Haha, yeah that's exactly what happens with me, I don't want to loose any of them... in most situations I'd rather restart from where I last saved and try again than see anything happen to 'em!

What if it had been one of the times they didn't, or is that never the case against bosses?

Oh right! Tbh I didn't really notice that rock as being an obstacle... seeing as everything else on the stage (any other rocks etc...) pretty much dissapears when the stage lights up, I assumed it was clearing the obstacles for you to launch a shot at the door! Guess I just assumed that was a ramp up to it! Couldn't really have been more wrong about this boss battle. EDIT: Just beat him, but with 5 troops remaining... I'm not gonna carry on from that! This game is seriously missing a 'restart from last save' option!

It'll be over a year since it was shown at E3'09, and it looked at a pretty decent stage back then, I think this will have had a good deal of development time.

Not in the sense that you can do split screen dives with someone sat next to you, but yeah you can do 2 player dives online.

Actually I think the reason I didn't realise about the miners was that signpost that leads to where the knight battle is, it says something like 'not for you yet'... so despite having explored down there plenty of times I never envisage it was a place you'd be able to expand out into... much like the Onii grounds before the Dark Valley has thus far always stayed undeveloped! I think I'm already approaching 20hrs (up to the 3rd King)... but I'm just enjoying taking my time!

Dammit I didn't realise to get Miners, all you had to do was beat that guardian! doh! I had been putting off doing him, as I'd thought I'd save a few side quests up for after the boss! I thought I would either find a miner somewhere, or one would come to the castle or something (don't really know why I thought that)... actually I do, it was that earthquake cutscene after the 2nd boss, I thought the miners hut would be in that underground tunnel or something?! Aaaaaaaanyways, so I've expanded out into the new area... next job will be getting some miners and then going to kick some ass!

I really like Shopto, cheap cheap cheap and often next day delivery!

Tbh I'd quite like to see DK as the main villian in this! We've just had a story centered around Bowsers plans... be nice if they mixed things up a bit for the sequel! Bowser could always turn up right at the end (having watched DK do all the hard work) and steal the kingdom away from Donkey Kong!

I'm not saying they should (I can't decide myself if I like the idea), but would anyone like a few other little cameos in the game from charactes such as Wario and Donkey Kong... the slightly expanded Mario Universe? I'm not saying include everyone (as you see in Mario Kart/Party), but I quite like the idea especially of a Donkey Kong boss fight in space (complete with Queen Bee fur effects)!! The boss fight could perhaps pay homage to Donkey Kong arcade, with him (being Bowser esque size, or a tad bigger) maybe standing on a giant Barrel in the centre, with smaller floating barrels/girders gravitating around it!

Tbf you get Mario and Metroid first!

^ they did demo the game on stage, and judging from GoNintendo's post, that must have been using MIDI aswell.
