Little bit risky for Bungie no? I never think of it as being a hugely popular genre on consoles. I guess they have their name behind the project, but not sure it'll be anywhere near as popular (at least immediately) as Halo was, and it looks like they're putting a lot into developing it.

Nintendo and Microsoft in light of the PS4 reveal (Th'rip)
Retro_Link replied to Hogge's topic in General Gaming Discussion
It's a bit difficult to draw any conclusions as to what console to get at the moment. E3's gonna be big for Nintendo, and that's 4 months away. The PS4 and 720 wont be out for 9months; and we had to wait 2 weeks before the Wii U launch before we found out anything concrete about that. So its how long you can play the waiting game for really! :p -

Nintendo and Microsoft in light of the PS4 reveal (Th'rip)

I want to agree, but there's just so few games announced for the Wii U to be able to fill me with any confidence... from Nintendo themselves really. I guess the charm you're talking about, and I fully agree with, is in titles like what... Nintendo Land... and then future games like Lego City, The Wonderful 101, Pikmin 3 maybe (what other games are we talking about here?)... but two of those games aren't from Nintendo. I need them to slap me in the face with a New IP or something, to show that they aren't just about Mii's and Mario. The Killzone demo is always going to be a matter of taste... tbh FPS don't generally appeal to me either. HOWEVER... what Killzone does do is show the potential of the console... it's a showcase for the console. What was Nintendo's big showcase for the console... NSMBU. It's night and day. Also you can't judge the console off of Killzone, because that was a showcase for the PS3 too, and look what that console went on to do in terms of it's First Party content, exclusives and indie developers. Alongside Killzone yesterday, they also had Knack. I seriously cannot wait for this years E3 to see what Nintendo have up their sleeve. I know Mario 'Universe' will blow me away, there's no question, they always do!... and Retro Studios, YES PLEASE!! Smash Bros etc... but to see that Nintendo magic in some new games too, that aren't the staples of every one of their consoles. -

That was so 'FUCK!'... When you'd just saved one person from a mugging, or defibrillator'd a couple of people, only to not notice a puddle and in an instant wipe out the adoring crowd that had gathered.

Yeah I'd have to agree. He says you can make all these things really fast, but I'm not buying that. If it's anything like LBP etc... there just isn't the time to create something amazing. That's what I thought, damn it went on, tired now Square.

I really had no idea what was happening in this last night, what with it being quite overwhelming, plus all the great online chat banter! :p So thought I'd post it so we could take a second look... #Bald

So is this more of a MMO type game? Just seems kind of dull to me, and that's the vibe those types of games often give me.
-
Yeah I don't understand complaints about the conference being dull, this wasn't E3, this was a far more techy/industry focused reveal. They had a lot to talk about. I'm glad you could come away from the conference largely understanding the console and Sony's vision for it.

Think I'm gonna add most of the posts from the Other Consoles Watch Dogs thread into this thread, so people can read up on the game and check out other videos.

Yeah the blue ones on the left show the changes for the new mode. Visually, no real difference. Good job 3DS! Why have they brightened up that first screen area so much?

For the second time today...

Here's a video of the controller for anyone who didn't see it... I just realised why clapping always sounds unenthusiastic in press conferences these days... because there's only about 10 people not taking pictures on their smart phones.

Nintendo 3DS Direct - Third Party - 11am Today!
Retro_Link replied to Serebii's topic in Nintendo Gaming
@Ike like one of these? http://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-Link-TL-SF1005D-100Mbps-Unmanaged-Desktop/dp/B000FNFSPY/ref=pd_sim_computers_5 and then just buy a bunch of Ethernet cables? -
Well that's what I thought, but then I remembered Sucker Punch always use the in game engine for everything in and out of their games, I remembered Killzone 4, and if you look at that GIF above that Daft posted, there's just something about that section of the footage that got me wondering.

How have I not heard of these before?!! So you can have your wireless hub plugged into the phone socket upstairs, but these plugged into any socket to have a wired connection in every room?! Is it as reliable as having wired sockets throughout the house? -
Given that Sucker Punch have always used the in-game engine for trailers and cut-scenes in their games (Sly, Infamous)... it's pretty exciting right!?
