Unemployment, travelling and smoking thread. Apparently.

Spartaaaaaaa. I've sent off all of my relevant forms and details, so I should be receiving my first lot of monies at the end of this week. It's been over a year since I actually had job monies. No more unpaid placements.- 562 replies

It's going to sound stupid, but if I were to get a 360, the first game I would pick up would definitely be this. I enjoyed 09 so much when I played on my mate's 360. Everything just seemed slick and "right." A few years ago, you would've been laughed at for even considering Fifa to be a somewhat "essential" for a new console, but I think EA have really pulled their socks up and created something special over the last few years. Although, I love football probably more than life, so I'm a little biased, haha. I want a cross-breed of Fifa 10 and Pro Evo on the Wii, haha. Happy gaming, guys.

I did. Haha. They're both Jack Straw. See! They're the same guy, man. Although, honestly, I posted two pictures: One with glasses and one without. As I didn't think the first picture was the best, heh.- 562 replies

I pretty much agree with that. It seems to be the "in thing" to do, bringing back stuff from the past. Quit living in the past, Marge.

I'm still trying to find my feet back in Newport, and a lot of it has changed for me. But, as long as I have family and friends here, it'll always be my home. I can't imagine not being in this house, so if the family moved permanently, I would be a bit upset, I think. I loved my time in Brighton and I would love to live there again one day. It's one of these places where I seemed to just fit or slot in, and it didn't seem too big or too small a place for me. So, maybe one day I can be there again, if I can afford it. There's so much of the world I haven't seen it yet. If I did live abroad, I'd be worried that I just couldn't hack it, and couldn't cope with learning other languages. I'm learning Dutch, but sucking, haha. I've never been to America or Australia, but a lot of people here seem to want to give that a crack. Maybe one day, heh. I do know that I don't want to stay in Newport forever. There's too many things that I want to do that I just can't do here, and I don't think I truely belong here anymore. I know I've got good family and close friends here, and it'll always be a place that is welcoming to me (I hope) but I believe that I belong somewhere else. I'd like to go somewhere new and give that a try. Experience new things.

Thank yooou. I'm gonna go for it when the advertisement goes online. I've been told where to look for it, so it's just a case of being patient and keeping myself in good contact with the school. Hahahaha. The Demon Headmistress. I've always thought the Demon Headmaster looked a lot like Jack Straw. When I was younger, I was convinced they were the same guy.- 562 replies

The school were freakishly nice to me. I mean, everytime I saw the headteacher, she beamed this huge smile at me. It was like some bad toothpaste advert. I quite like niceness, though, so I liked it. I will do the application, but I don't think they're taking applications yet. The job is for January. Hehe, a birthday present.- 562 replies

Yeah man, the walking to the station and then place can sometimes be a bit more of a pain than the train itself. Hopefully it'll all be worth it. Also, just got a phone call from my agency: I'm now working Thursday as well in the same school I was in last week. She said that they rang her and asked for me again, which I think sounds quite good. I'm hoping that maybe it can become a regular fixture for me, and the headteacher told me last week that there is a job coming up and I should go for it. The cat always lands on his feet.- 562 replies

I'm supply teaching in Primary schools. But, I'm also looking to do some cover work in Secondary, too. It's annoying, but having a car is such a huge advantage for travel. (costs a bomb, though). I didn't have a car for four years at uni, and ended up getting placements which required one and a half hour + train journeys. A bit annoying when friends with cars are placed ten minutes away. I was looking forward to not having to use trains for work again, but aw well.- 562 replies

He has what I call "convenient or selective memory." He remembers what he chooses to remember. The bugger. He's gone away for a few weeks now, so there's nothing that can be done about it for a while anyway. Haha, I'd love to do that, but then I'd feel cheeky doing that. It's great that I'm back home and finding my feet again, because if I had my own place I would be struggling. So, because of that, I'd feel a bit like an...ungrateful bastard if I keep bringing it up. I talked about it with my Mum this morning, but she's struggling enough as it is. I did email my agency lady, who was really nice about it. She's been quite understanding and I think she's trying to find work that is within reach. I'm working again on Wednesday at a school which I applied for a job at and never heard back from again. So, that'll be interesting.- 562 replies

Absolutely fuming at the moment. Got a phone-call today for more work, but I had to turn it down as it was too far from a train station for me to get to. If I left now, I wouldn't get to the school til about 10 oclock, whereas it would take me half the time in the car. When I was at uni, my Dad said that when I finished it would be good for me to come home, as I would save money living at home, and he would help me out with getting a car so I could travel. Well, I'm home, and still no car, despite work coming in. I've turned down more work now than I've taken on because of the lack of car. I've pretty much come around to the fact now that any work I will now get in will involve a stupid journey. It took me two trains and leaving the house at half past 6 the other day to get to work for half past 8, when the school was only 30 minutes away by car.- 562 replies

Aww, don't you have any sympathy for The Mick McCartheehee? For some reason, he always reminded me of Doc Brown from Back to the Future. Hahahhaha.

I watched that, and thought it was a really entertaining game. Very harsh on Wolves though...5-2 makes it seem like Sunderland steam-rolled over them. Also watched the Plymouth game against Forrest, which was on before it. Quite enjoyed that, too. I missed the goal, mind.

I think there are many people who do benefit from having some more time to do certain tasks. But, there are no doubt quite a few people who take the piss a bit and just use the time to slack off. So, rather than having more time to work on a task, you really just get more time until you need to cram stuff for the deadline, haha.- 562 replies

I had a friend who did this. Basically, he had a huuuuge project to do in the final year of his course at uni. He had an extension because of his Dyslexia, which was for two weeks. About three weeks before his deadline, he hadn't done a single thing on his project. He had other work to do, too, but he did bugger all! When it came to meeting his deadlines, he complained that he had stress, ended up getting a doctor's note and received another extension... So, for some of his projects, he ended up with around 3 weeks or so worth of extensions. I remember he had an argument with his coursemate about it, as he called his mate "lazy" for not doing some of his work...when he was receiving extensions here and there.- 562 replies

I watched that game earlier, and it just seems like luck isn't on your side at the moment. I mean, you pummeled Everton in the second half, but the frame of the goal, players on the line and Tim Howard stopped Pompey getting any points. I was expecting them to get a goal, but it just seemed one of those days where the luck didn't seem to be with them. Good luck for the rest of the season. Once you get a win, I think it'll give you some much needed momentum. As for the Cech sending off, I think the red card was the right decision. I can't remember who was the attacking player (Rodelega?) but he was in on goal, and Cech denied him a clear goal-scoring chance. So, he had to go. I think Cech's case was that there were players coming back to cover for him, but I still think he denied a clear chance, so had to go. I thought the game against Stoke was a tough one, and for a while I thought that maybe it would be one of those days where the chances wouldn't be taken. Valencia should have buried his chance, and Nani seemed to have taken a step backwards in his performances. It's a shame, as he gave some good performances earlier on, but I think he really needs to play week in week out in order to get the best out of him. Giggs is outshining both Valencia and Nani at the moment. One thing that I think he does better is that he just seems to do the simple things right first, and he seems to think things through a lot more. Valencia seems to want to beat people over and over but doesn't get the ball in quick enough. With Nani, I don't think he chooses the right type of ball when he has the opportunity to whip it in. I'm glad Berbatov got on the scoresheet.

They really were onto something with Added Time Multi Ball. I mean...nobody likes 0-0 draws. Nobody. I kinda laughed at it at first and then thought...actually...that's a sweet idea, haha.
