Look at the date. April 1st. That's a schoolboy error.

*looks at this thread* What is the world coming to?

The thing is that you don't always need to be the best team in the league or play the best football to get into the top four. (it's even debatable what being the "best" is). The real challengers are the ones who grind out games and find ways to win. If something were to happen to Suarez, I do think Liverpool would suffer. Players go off the boil at some point in the season, so you have to ask where the goals will come from. I think they'll just miss the top four, personally. Unless Kenny buys in January, which he might do.

Xpert 11 Season 20: The Ascent into History
Fierce_LiNk replied to Haden's topic in General Chit Chat
Can we just freeze ourselves or fast forward the next few weeks, 'til we get to the Change Report? I wanna know how my mans have done. -
Just googled that and it does take you to a number of other forums. We'll have to wait til tomorrow and see. If that is the truth, though, it's sad that this is how its ended for him. He seemed like a fairly private man, to me. So, I don't think it should've been anyone else's business, other than his own. Liverpool have done well in the two away games against Chelsea and Arsenal. But, if they really were the better team, they would've taken points off United and City at home. Both weren't playing terribly well, so maximum points should have been taken. I trust United and City to beat Liverpool at home. As for top four, I can't see United or City being shifted, but the other two spots are anyone's guess. Spurs look great, but it's all about whether they can keep going. They haven't got the experience of getting into the top four season after season and haven't got the squad depth for it. I would be happy if they got third and Newcastle fourth. What will likely happen is that Chelsea climb back into it and Spurs will get fourth. Liverpool 5th and Arsenal 6th.

Was sad about this in the football thread. There was a good tribute on Match of the Day 2 just now. The interview that Robbie Savage gave to the BBC just shows how shocked everyone is by this. Never seen him like that before. RIP (my earliest memories of him are when he played for Leeds and thinking that he had an amazing name for a footballer)

This was so gut-wrenching to watch. and also the Robbie Savage interview. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/15911120.stm Still hasn't sunken in.

Totally agree. Don't think I've ever heard a bad word said against him, and even when he played for Leeds, I still liked the man. Don't really understand this. He was only 42 and being manager of Wales was going to be the making of him as a manager. Terrible day.
-
God...Did not expect to hear this at all today. Really likeable man and was making a great start as Wales Manager. RIP.

The man has Jesus on his side. All he has to do is stand in the box and it'll somehow go in. Can't buy luck, you either have it or you don't. He has it. He's taken all of Torres' luck as well, by the looks of it. Maybe Kaka's, too.

I'm Prediction: Pain. (bonus points if you can guess where that's from). I've been spending less and less time on that. I blame Xpert11.

The Wii is Dead... what are you playing on it?
Fierce_LiNk replied to darksnowman's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Again, I interpreted that as him obtaining the Mirror Shield. So, "changing the Hylian Shield for the Mirror Shield." -

I interpreted as in that he's only played the GC version (either as the disc that came with Wind Waker or Collector's Edition). Because unless he's played Master Quest, the Cube and N64 version are the same, aren't they? So, that's how I took it. If so, that's poor, dude. You get the Mirror Shield very late on, so you must have finished it. It seems tragic to get so far and then stop. -
I saw this on the news. Thought it was incredible. Don't really understand what could have happened to allow her to gain the usage of her legs. But, feel very happy for her. It must feel like being born again.

Campaign for people to use the chat room again
Fierce_LiNk replied to Supergrunch's topic in General Chit Chat
I've been in the chat room a few times and have enjoyed it. Except when it gets toooooo busy, then its difficult to follow/keep up with conversations. I'm talking if there's 10 people + in there. Anyway, a lot of people here have friends added to MSN, Facebook or are even friends in real life (cos of meet-ups, knowing each other before N-E, etc). So, the chat room doesn't seem as essential to me as was once in the past. -

What about on the N64? I'm sure you remember. It's not the type of thing you'd forget. -
It's great that you have this confidence. But, sometimes, a little humility goes a long way. A little arrogance can be good. Sometimes. It depends on the person. It suited Eric Cantona, for example. In your case, 5 years is a long time...I'd go with the humble/humilty route, personally. Work from there.

iPaul, it was very frustrating to watch. The penalty decision was such a terrible one, and it did change the outcome of the game. But, that's only a small bit of what pisses me off. The midfield were/are just so ordinary. As great as Ryan Giggs is, he should not be playing midfield against Newcastle, who are in the top four. It just doesn't work. We've got quite a few strikers on the books (Rooney, Hernandez, Berbatov, Wellbeck, Owen, Macheda) but next to no central midfielders to get the ball to them on a weekly basis. The standout below par performer for me today was Ashley Young. Looked lazy in Europe this week, did nothing all game and should have scored the winner which was a tap in. At least Nani offers something and does supply others. Newcastle were outstanding defensively, and they could do nothing about the penalty, so I won't begrudge them that. You take your chances and just roll with it. But, I just wonder how long it's going to go on for. Cleverley and Anderson are both out until January, so that leaves Carrick, Fletcher and potentially Ryan Giggs if he's played in midfield again.

Xpert 11 Season 20: The Ascent into History

Ah, ok. So, I don't have to worry about promoting youth? When do we find out if the skill levels have been changed? -
Xpert 11 Season 20: The Ascent into History

What do I do? Do I click on the team's profile and click "challenge team"? Do we get DeeVee from these games? Or is it just a case of going for the strongest squad? I'm treating this as glorified friendlies. Probably won't win a single game. -
Wow, that student is a mega-prick for doing that. I hope you ruin him.

I think it's far more fun to do it deathmatch style. You choose a team, somebody else chooses another, and we debate over which one would win. So between Fresh's and yours...its a tough one. I think Carrick and Parker would do a better job at anchoring that midfield than Gerrard. You've got the better attacking players. Arteta seems to be the weak link in Fresh's team. I'd take him out and fit somebody else in there for that three man midfield. Too bad Essien isn't fit, as he would be the ideal player.
-
The problem with fantasy teams is that everybody just goes for the star players, the leading goal-scorers and star strikers. Football is half attack, half defence as one unit. Also, when choosing a team, it really depends on what formation your opponent plays or the players they play. There's not a truly one size fits all team because there's different ways you can beat your opponent. Even Fresh's team, seems quite narrow to me. When playing with Van Persie up top, a striker can be marked out of the game by two central defenders. That's the problem with fantasy teams, for me. You kinda need an opposition team to work against it. Otherwise its just...simply picking the "best" players in each position and putting them in 11 positions.

Are you guys bat-shit crazy? Vidic has played something like 4 league games this year. He's not been dropped at all, he's been injured. I can't even remember the last time Vidic was dropped because of poor form.
