That's a good analogy. One of these will probably be enough for me, I don't see myself picking up sequels to this if they do appear in the next few years. Unless they were drastically different or better in some way. The customisation/editing is what excites me, though. That's the bulk of the game for me, being able to create new things.

I thought it looked gash, brah.

Your words cut me like the thrust of an arrow penetrating the naked flesh of a deer on the hillside. Hype falling. Falling. Faaalling. Gone. If I've never played it before and I'm at the stage where fresh oxygen feels amazingly new to me (oh look, air, hnnnnnng), will I like this? It looks great to me, but then I've not spent much time on these games except for trying the original in a demo pod in HMV yeaaars ago.

I almost stopped reading here. You can't seriously believe this? All of a sudden, it is the fault of the press? I can't believe this. The press never seemed to get that much wrong before when Nintendo used to deliver conferences, especially at E3. You've made it abundantly clear that you don't like conferences, but you are not the world and there are many, many people who do enjoy seeing these conferences. Why wouldn't they? The fact is that both MS and Sony had representation yesterday and went on the offensive to win the fans over and to get their games across to the media. Nintendo didn't exist yesterday. If they did, they have clearly taken lessons from Solid Snake in the art of stealth as there are no traces to be found. Listen to yourself. There were tons of games shown yesterday and I can't name a single new title for a Nintendo system. Did they actually show anything on the floor yesterday? You are essentially right, Gamescom is about the show floor/the games, and not entirely the conferences. However, as far as the naked eye can see, Nintendo have failed to deliver in regards to both. inB4 somebody goes through the list of what was shown at Gamescom for the other systems and systematically "disregards" each one and why they personally didn't like what they saw.

I imagine a lot of Rayman fans were pissed at Legends being WiiU exclusive. But, the WiiU didn't take off and I just don't see the XboxOne failing so badly that they'll have to take the game multiplatform to get it out there. It's not quite the same situation. The best we can hope for is it being timed exclusive, tbh. If not, then we'll have to miss out unless we have a One. It's a critically acclaimed game, I'll be shocked if it flops on the One. But, it's not great for fans of the series who have (naturally) banked on this being on a Playstation...seeing as it's always appeared on a Playstation console. At the very least, if a game is going to be this good, shouldn't it ideally really be accessible to as many gamers as possible? It's not a Mario Kart situation where Nintendo are behind it, so you can see why it should only be played on their console. The last game appeared on 5 platforms and now this one will only appear on (at the moment) 1. It's bullshit for the fans, really. Great for Microsoft that they bagged it for the One.

Haven't touched the demo yet. But... Wohoo for Del Toro. Not excited for Kojima. A little bit disappointed it's not going to be a new series. But, if the game is good, then I guess it doesn't really matter. Last Silent Hill I played was Shattered Memories, which blew me away. So, the potential is there. It's really jarring to see Daryl there, though.

I wasn't too fond of it to begin with, but I was expecting it to try and win me around. Aw well. A bit gutted that there's no Nintendo Gamescom conference. Sony and Microsoft both showed new games. Is there any news of a Nintendo Direct coming?

Had I known that I would be getting a PS4 so soon, I would have held off Injustice until then. It's a great game, I love it on the WiiU.

The light is used really well in The Last of Us. The speaker is used for Tomb Raider, for the logs. Think it's actually used in The Last of Us during one section where you find a tape recorder. It is all very subtle and nicely done.

I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of quirky stuff, so I hope that continues. There does seem to be a great range coming out, which is only ever a good thing. There isn't really an amazing fighting game out/coming out for the system yet. Probably the one genre that is lacking atm. Unless I've seriously overlooked something...

I wouldn't quite go that far, as it's really only the one game. But yeah, that type of usability was something I was expecting from the GamePad. Saying that, the touch-pad is used in every game that I've come across so far, usually to bring up a map (Tomb Raider, WatchDogs) or to bring up the crafting screen in The Last of Us...or the BattleLog in BF4. So, it is used well.

It really doesn't, even when in its stand. Due to its width and height, it just takes up room. I've got it on my coffee table as there's nowhere else to put it. Whilst the WiiU console is small and does a good job of staying inconspicuous, the GamePad is anything but. It stands out like a sore thumb. It's very un-Nintendo-like in its creation because they usually go for small and "convenient" products. The DSlite is small, as is the 3DS. So too is the Wiimote, nunchuks, SNES controller, GC controller, etc. The GamePad on the other hand just looks fucking huge in comparison. I wonder, from a non-gamer perspective, how many people are instantly put off it by the sheer size and volume of it. The Wiimote was very non-threatening, it was small and sleek. They've managed to do the complete opposite of that with the GamePad.

Can't believe there's so few posts in this thread. The game looks fucking ace, what's the matter with you people?! :p The customisation options alone have sold it to me. If there's a big enough community here getting it, we could have some right fun with this. The type of game I think @RedShell could excel at.

There seemed to be quite a few new and juicy games shown yesterday. The console has a bright future, so I'm happy with that.
-
The time period and setting makes this for me. February can't come quick enough.

I wasn't hugely fussed on this after watching the trailer the first time. On the second viewing, it does look a lot better to me. Seems very frantic, just hope it's fun to play. It will be a hard job to top Resogun.

I thought that this looked lovely yesterday. Genuinely a fun game. Strangely, it was the type of game I was expecting to see on the WiiU, but nevermind.

I imagine that a lot of PS4 owners would have bought both anyway, seeing as Tomb Raider was that good. It's just nothing but annoying really. The game sold well on the PS3 and PS4 from what I heard, so...why deny that fanbase a chance to play the game? It would be similar to making something like FIFA PS4 only. Why? There's no real need for it. It's been a multiplatform game for God knows how long. If it's not a timed exclusive, I hope that there's something else equally as awesome that comes out at around the same sort of time, so I can divert my monies towards that. Still, pissed off.

Game looks nice. Put a small smile on my face. Any word on a date? Just hope it plays as good as it looks.

My order of shitness for today is: 1. Robin Williams. Why God, why? 2. DAT FUCKING COW. 3. Going after Rojo when there are a dozen or so players we would be better off with. 4. This Tomb Raider bollocks. Anyway, if it's not coming to PS4, I won't be touching it. I have no desire to get a One. It's such a situation, though. Well done to MS for securing it, but...needlessly annoying.

Well, this just rounds off a shiiiiit day. Last night, the tragic death of Robin Williams, which put me in a shitty mood for at least this morning. Such a hero. Then, I was due to visit two friends and their 8 month old kid at noon. Half past 11, I'm being held up on the dual carriageway by an endless row of traffic. Another accident perhaps? No. According to the radio, there was a cow on the loose. A cow that had jumped over a fence. I'm in the car, listening to the radio and assuming that this will minutes to sort out. 12 o'clock, I'm still there. Messaging my friend to let them know that I'll be late. Jokes are flung back and forth about the cow. Half past 12. I'm still there. 1 o'clock, still there. 1:30, STILL THERE. We hadn't moved for one whole fucking hour. I arrive at my friend's house at least 2 hours later than when I should have arrived. So pissed off. I don't check the internet for the whole afternoon until I pick up Ine from work. We're just about to drive on a mega-busy roundabout. "So...are you ok?" "Meh, dat fucking cow." "...you haven't checked the internet, have you?" "No. Why? WHO HAS DIED NOW?" "I'll wait til we pass this roundabout." We pass it. And then she drops the bomb about Tomb Raider. One word to describe this day, and I never, ever use this word: CUNT! What is this shit? Why is it an XboxOne exclusive? Why? Are they purposefully trying to ensure that this game sells as few copies as possible? Fucking load of shit. I haven't lifted today, I haven't eaten enough, so I'm starving, pissed off at spending more than two hours sat in a car on a non-moving dual-carriageway, pissed off at this game, at the death of Robin Williams. To top it off, Man United are putting in a bid for Rojo who I thought was a bit gash at the World Cup when we should be going for Vidal, Cuadrado, Hummels or we should have bought Garay ages ago. 16million quid apparently. Seriously, fuck off. Fuck this day. Fuck this thread. Fuck Hollywood and FUCK YOOOOOOOU.

My PS4 must run on stealth runs then, brah. There was one moment where it was very loud, when I played The Last of Us for the first time. (as in, booted it up), but it's been quiet since. The WiiU is very quiet too, so I'd consider them equal in that regard. The PS4 console is bigger (not that much bigger, imo) but the GamePad for the WiiU is a fucking joke in size, you can't ignore that. It's almost/roughly the size of the console! It takes up a large portion of my table and it's annoying to just have around the house, whereas the Pro Controller and PS4 controller can pretty much go anywhere. I like the channels setting, but also like how it's done on the PS4. One is definitely faster than the other and I didn't really get a grasp of just how slow the WiiU was until I bought a PS4. I'd say that there's a bit of a generation gap, too. There's an audience there who want those gritty games that they just can't get on a Nintendo system. I love the Simpsons, but I also love The Walking Dead, for example. Same applies here. Haha, opinions do vary, which is great. Would be boring if we all thought the same thing. I LOVE the dialogue, it's sucked me in. Maybe it gets better as it goes along, but there's been a few moments in the game that have stood out for me. Finding the logs/letters as well has also added to the experience for me. As for the gameplay, light is the opposite of how I'd describe it. I actually didn't like the gameplay at first because it felt so "heavy" (a step below clunky). But, once you work out how you're meant to play it, understand the mechanics and so on, it really gets you sucked in. I love the crafting ability, how you have to scavenge for supplies, the weapons/skill upgrading, stealth, etc.

That's funny brah, I feel the exact opposite. Literally. I'm loving The Last of Us and I'm glad I'm finally playing a game with substance. Storyline, dialogue, developed characters, emotion, frailties, strength. I didn't get any of that in the last Zelda game and definitely have never got them in any Mario game. Metroid I'll let off because that's something different entirely (and because it represents the very best that Nintendo can do).

Fuck, can't believe I forgot about Jumanji. Amazing film. I'm watching clips from Good Will Hunting. Might have to get that on LoveFilm next and watch it again.

I'm still plugging away and have just reached:
