I'm hoping that they are just being cautiously optimistic, i intend to ring my doctors surgery on Friday if i haven't heard anything. I suspect that's where they are coming from here. It's not even a question of whether i fall under the criteria, its just making sure my bosses are happy enough with how the policy is being followed. I would say that the stress on the postal service is absolutely crazy and like you say they're probably going out in batches! The whole situation is making me hella stressed and i know I'm not the only one!

I'm NHS staff so there is a possibility that ill get full sick pay anyway, but maybe not considering this is a whole new issue. I rang 111 and asked them where the letters were coming from... i know friends in England have got theirs and they are from NHS England... but we dont have a governing overall NHS trust for NI. He palmed me off and just said they'll come in 1-2 weeks. 1-2 weeks i could be fucking infected and its too damn late at that point.

Im in the north, so under uk rule yes. Have heard about this 80% thing but don't know how/when itll be implemented here. We are the uk's forgotten, slightly backwards cousin lol They havent even sent the social shielding letters out yet ffs

work for the nhs, was a bit sick on mon/tue, and stayed at home. dont have covid but bosses are panicking. most likely going to receive the at risk letter soon so i'll have to isolate for 12 weeks. Don't think my boss wants to spend the money/can be bothered to have me do at least some work at home.... so i don't know what money to expect as pay :/

Well I might be biased being female but my body toughens up after a while and i felt like a fuckin' powerhorse doing 5x5 three times a week and oly (leg heavy) once a week. But women are apparently able to recover from frequent load better than males. I'd be interested to know how you get on. I didn't really find my oly suffered for doing squats a lot. Mentally it was a bit taxing getting to the upper limit of what you could squat and continually adding, or even staying at the same weight so frequently. I think a 3x5 could work, maybe even a 3x5 at 80% 5rm could work too. -

get itttttttttttt! I used my belt for the first time over the weekend. Feels good to have that support and being able to brace against it certainly pushes up the weight i can lift. w/ bonus kitty -

@drahkon, yeah keto is difficult to keep to for gaining, and intense sports (which is why i'm not doing it now!) because hunger is so low, and fat is so filling. Good for you, keep checking in and let us know how you are getting on =) -

I got a 90kg squat, and attempted 100kg (which got half way up) Lots of rows, GMs, RDLs in my future. Did some snatches this evening, its nice to be able to still do them. Rhomboids are smoked though.... Which partners well with the back work I suppose. My squat failings are in my back, rather than my legs, i fail halfway up (which apparently is unusual in a lifter) which is usually indicative of a weaker core/back. Which is not wrong as i've had injuries (prolapsed discs x4) on top of arthritis and let my back go to hell. -

I nearly always achieve PB's when im not training excessively. And I notice this more and more since I've got into my 30s. -

Doing 5x5 squats (at what could be a mere 5kg from your 1rm) 3 x a week is soooo taxing on your body. But even the inventor himself says its not really an intermediate or advanced programme, i do believe a lot of people advance onto a 5-3-1 type program after. I just loved it. my strength gains were crazy, i ate food constantly, and i frightened the crap out of the daft gym rats..... never had there been a chick in the squat rack before let alone one using the big plates ;-) -

I think the most reps I've done in one go on deads is 8, that's pretty taxing at any kind of working weight The dude that invented SL, Mehdi, usually suggests 1x5 for deadlifts if I recall my time in the IC. -
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TK6MKAZq2v0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NSodl2PhZQg There ye go I dunno, I just feel some of these religious nuts who can't even say the word cancer would soon have a change of mind if they were on the other end of it. I'm likely jaded because i'm exposed to more of the above mentioned religious nuts than sensible people lol

Agreed.. its a very very good beginners programme, and maybe has its use for intermediate level on a short term training schedule... but once you get to the ceiling of your beginner gains it just becomes a grind and its incredibly taxing on your body squatting heavy weight for so many reps so often. Towards the end of my SL life I was walking around like a zombie completely physically taxed... and I also did a 4th day every week of heavy cleans.. I pretty much owe SL for developing my squats, but it definitely runs its course. Interestingly I've started "wave" training with my coach... today we did squats, and cleans. 5-3-1 for 50,60,70, then 5-3-1 again with 60,70,80 -
Maybe this is a controversial opinion.... I think while medicine is not advanced enough to be able to replacate human organs, I feel like it should be our duty to give life to someone in our death.... I mean even if you believe in the afterlife, you ain't taking your body with you and leaving it to rot underground, or burning it doesn't seem sacred to me... If I have any organs left when i die (unless i get killed in an RTA thats probably not going to happen) I'd happily give EVERYTHING to ensure someone gets their life extended. Or they can use me for medical studies. I dunno if anyone caught the documentary on a few years ago, following a couple of people with various types of cancer who decided to donate their bodies to science... its definitely an eye opening watch.

getttt! Losalt is my fave on keto. Today I channeled my inner kickass and managed to hit a lifetime squat PR of 80kg. I used to lift a lot a few years ago, but had a terrible time with tendinitis in my knee* and never managed to get past the 70kg mark. And it went up fairly easily too. *Injury acquired on way home from NE meet 2008.. tripped on escalator, landed on my kneecap, straight into the edge of the sharp step, full body weight through it... how my kneecap didn't shatter into a million pieces ill never know... my knee doubled in size that evening though >____< -

the rated weight is to prevent them being bent.... they'll still work but not very well. And you're basing them on being the same thing, which they are not. a cheap bar is a cheap piece of metal. an olympic bar is more complex, it has mechanical parts that make it spin and rotate. I've used bars that have been only very slightly bent, just barely visible with the eye, and they are mechanically fucked, and make it very difficult to do any rotational movement like cleans and bicep curls.
