Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens
Hamishmash replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in General Chit Chat
The thing is, those films were box office smashes and even critical reaction from reviews was mostly positive. It's only the fans that hated them. -
Really liked it, especially the scene

I got Falcon Punched. It was awesome.

I've tried to describe Tropius and Stunfisk to her but she's never selected mine. I follow like... 3 of her blogs though and everything she does is hilarious and derpy.

This was actually uploaded on Monday, I just forgot to post it here. SOZ!

Urgh that was the stupidest bit of telly ever. It had such a mean agenda! There was no balance at all... 4 out of 4 LD relationships fail. It seemed to be written by people who'd never even been in one of those relationships. There's way too much pressure put on young people to "be young, be free" etc.

I just think that the sexism against women in all areas of life massively outweighs any sexism against men and if we are to have true equality, sexism against women is by far the more urgent issue that needs to be addressed. Men's rights are a just cause but it is minor compared to the long, worldwide history of sexism against women. So maybe for the last few decades women can now talk back, have their own opinions, have the freedom to be arseholes and sexist. Well fair enough, after 250,000 years. I'm not talking about individual, specific cases, because they are in many ways irrelevent. You get idiots and racists and sexists and bigots in all genders. I'm talking about the culture. The culture we live in which says that if a man sleeps around he's a player, if a woman sleeps around she's a slut. The culture where if a male celebrity is photographed not smiling, no comment is made, but if a female celebrity is photographed not smiling she's characterised as a bitch or depressed or smug or whatever by the media. The fact women still don't receive equal pay, or are not hired if they're at an age they're likely to want children. The fact women in political power is a rarity. The way women are written in movies and tv shows, or depicted in revolting game designs like in Arkham City. The culture where this imbalance is ok: There are millions of cases of men being mistreated by women, being killed or raped by women, being made fun of because of their gender. But it's not as much of a social problem in our society, it doesn't have that twisted history that still effects women today. Women are bred to respect men in a way that men totally aren't. I respect you all, but just because a website focussing on the sexism against women... focusses on the sexism against women... that does not make it sexist. And it's frustrating that any debate about sexism or racism or whatever, has to have the privileged in the discussion try and gain discrimination points. I'm privileged as fuck, I've had people make assumptions about me because of my gender but I understand that the plight of women is so much greater.

It's stuff like this that make "people don't take my opinion on shoes seriously" seem so pathetic, no offence. I think if many of the men who have experienced so called "male sexism" could live 1 day in the life of your average woman, they'd change their opinion. And that's in our supposedly more civilised countries.

Sorry but all this "you can be sexist to men toooo" screams of "Why isn't there a straight pride march?" and "You can be racist to white people too!" You can be prejudice and bigoted towards men, but saying you can be sexist towards them really trivialises the latent sexism in our society. "Everyday sexism" doesn't mean "Oh people assume I can't multi task BECAUSE I'M A MAN WAAAAAH". It's to do with how our society is constructed. How girls are told not to wear certain clothes or act in certain ways or they'll get raped (instead of men being taught not to rape). Men have the privilege of not being told to be scared, to protect themselves. Men obviously do get raped but their isn't a rape culture targeted directly at them like there is with women. Maybe there is a bit of sexism towards men but it's in such a pathetically minor way that whinging about it comes across as "Pregnancy? Periods? Try getting kicked in the balls! Women are soooo lucky!"

I have been in a relationship with my boyfriend for over 3 years now, very happily. I live in London, he lives in Melbourne, Australia. It won't be forever... but whenever we're together we appreciate it so much more... I think we probably talk and get to know each other a lot more than a lot of couples.

Ooh! That'd be really nice of you! Is there anything you want? It's really lame, but could you name it Raven?

I'm playing Platinum but does anybody have a Gen 4 Murkrow they'd be willing to trade to me?

After the popularity of my Batman redesigns (which you can now buy a sticker set of hereeee: http://hamishsteele.bigcartel.com/product/gotham-sticker-set ) I have decided to redesign Marvel characters every monday! I was going to make this thread earlier but now that I'm a few weeks in, I've got more to show you. So here we go!

What's this!? A new one!?

I am somewhat disappointed in the look of the city but it's been something I've had a problem with in all the games. I wish it actually looked like it was made of lego, and not just the real world with lego people in it. But that's such a minor criticism. This interests me a lot more than GTA ever did.

EU Nintendo Direct 13th September 3pm
Hamishmash replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in General Gaming Discussion
I love the fact that the user "Wii" is trash talking the Wii U cos it makes it seem like he's the jealous younger brother who hates all the attention the other one's getting. I for one am pretty impressed and delighted. Does the Zombi U package ALSO come with Nintendoland? Or is it a choice? -
I couldn't believe there wasn't a thread for the movie on the forum (there is for the game but ... blegh... disney tie in games) The new trailer makes this look so amazing. Like a video-game Who Framed Roger Rabbit?

Like I said above, I think if you hate an episode you do have to remember that the show is aimed at people who weren't even born when Christopher Eccleston was the Doctor. She loved it, so that makes it worth it. It's like Harry Potter or something. It is meant for kids but there's no shame in enjoying it yourself. (I love that she totally ships Dory)

What song(s) are you really into at the moment?!
Hamishmash replied to Aneres11's topic in General Chit Chat
She's kind of just done 2 years of solid "features" on other people's songs. So I'm excited to finally get some new stuff solidly by just her. The ArchAndroid is kind of a weekly listen for me. I also love her previous two albums. The Audition was never properly released and is a bit of a mixed bunch (the producers wanted to push her in a certain direction because she was a young, African American woman) but Metropolis is amazing amazing amazing. There's a lot more Janelle Monae out there already then people realise. I just... love her style, her message. Why she wears the black and white suits is really interesting and her message to young women and minorities always seems so genuine. To me, the ArchAndroid is a much subtler and more beautiful comment on the government's obsession with defining what types of love are allowed then things like Born This Way. Janelle's message speaks to me a lot more... and her love performances are so funny and cheeky and inventive. I'm gushing. -
Obligatory "I went to Madame Tussards" collection. Me looking at poor people with my fag hag this is meant to be zac efron but it looks like frankie muniz after a fire please save me, i’ve been trapped in the 90s

I can't tell who how excited I am about Janelle Monae's upcoming new album "The Electric Lady" She is my diva. I love her. I've seen her live 3 times and I've got a poster of her on my wall. Just... urgh. It's not been officially released but I can't stop listening to this clear live performance of her next single, Electric Lady. It's so funky and catchy... I wonder if this will throw her into the mainstream. Featuring on fun.'s We Are Young might have helped.
