  1. Super Mario 3D Land 2 would be much more exciting, and I'm sure we'll see one of those one day. Tbh though, I'm kinda happy that they've just thrown is out to fill in a gap this summer, especially as a downloadable.
  2. I really wouldn't want to play this without having played the previous 2. People are talking about them changing the ending, but what if they changed the start of the game to make playing the first two even less vital, making the whole thing a little more self contained.
  3. My favourite thing about all the Mario RPGs is how Mario is a celebrity, as much as he is in the real world. Everyone knows who he is. And I like how they always treat Luigi bad like "that other green one". The characterisation of Bowser is also amazing, I hope he's in this and gets some good scenes. I like to think of all the Mario RPGs as the best and most "canon" representation of what the Mushroom Kingdom is actually like to live in. Every single shop, NPC and task is filled with so much charm.
  4. This is meant to just be 3DS focussed. They'll probably spent 5 minutes of this bringing on someone to tell us about Nintendoland, Pikmin 3 and Mario U. I wouldn't be surprised if most of the talk is about the 3 Mario-universe 3DS games they mentioned before.
  5. It's sad how much time Nintendo spent showing a 1-year-old port of a current gen game. WiiU should be NEXT gen... but it's selling point atm seems to be "You can now play current gen games... on a Nintendo console!"
  6. I forgot how SLOW these conferences are. They could fit in more games if they didn't make Reggie not only repeat everything that Iwata did on Sunday, repeat HIMSELF often and spend precious minutes talking very slowly about how "We simply don't have enough time to show you everything". It makes me feel they don't have much to show at all.
  7. EDIT: Wrong thread. Easy mistake to make...
  8. Nintendo aren't showing any 3DS games are they though? Not until another day.
  9. I won't be able to watch live. Is there going to be somewhere where I can rewatch it in full without any chance of catching spoilers before hand?
  10. Just think about Pokémon Snap for the Wii U, with the GamePad being the camera, and all your Mii friends rating the quality of your pics... it'd be perfect.
  11. The Pro controller is for Smash Brothers and Mario Kart.
  12. So can we have this character in Smash Bros 4?
  13. The American QR's done work with British copies of the game.
  14. I think 2.5 D is perfect for the 3DS. It's one of the few times you can really notice it. It will be nice if there are times when you leave the foreground and start moving around and finding secrets in the background. Looks lovely actually.
  15. Her performance was what did it for me, not the actual song. She was like Kate Bush having a kung-fu seizure. It was cool! Not sure anything, for me, will beat Sebastien Tellier's Divine for France a few years back. It was just too good for Eurovision.
  16. I liked the DS version but found the actual matches kind of dull and the loading times between the 3D sections bugged me a lot. I think this looks pretty good. EDIT: Does this even have the RPG section?
  17. Completely. I think chance shots are a master stroke really. I think they add such a great dimension to the game play. In the early tournaments, they're a way of getting you through it quickly, and you're a failure if you rely on them. It really adds a poker-like strategy to the game... tricky the opponent into making you think you're gonna take shots that you're not. And people seem to be complaining about it just being difficult. I love the difficulty.. its intense. I can really feel myself naturally getting better at it through skill and concentration, rather than through artificial things like levelling up. It's really rare for games to do that these days. So many people seem to be going into this game negetively, deciding they hate chance shots. Yes, chance shots are there, they're very common but they're not just some instant-win mechanic that makes the game bad. Continue with it. The thing is this game takes time and practice. In the first few tournaments the chance shots make you feel like they make you win every match, and when you go online you get beaten by everyone else because they know how to use them well. Just because you're bad at the start or find 1 player boring, don't give up. This game is a real, legitimate challenge that really rewards you when you keep playing.
  18. It's a possibility, but I think there is probably a lot you'd have to chance other than simply taking them away from the games. CPU opponents might need to be changed drastically.
  19. The very fact she can do what she does in those heels makes her twice as tough as Batman anyway.
  20. Yeah we do. And I don't get why people hate chance shots. It makes it really easy to counter their shots because then you usually can tell what they're gonna be doing. I've developed little strategies to counter each one. People saying there is no skill here I can't imagine have played this for long. There's just as much as Mario Kart. It's a skimpy package, I mean... at times it feels like an eShop title but I think the actual gameplay is fine.
  21. I like the chance shots... I find them exciting. (They're far less annoying than things like Blue Shells in Mario Kart and you don't see nearly as many people complaining about them.)
  22. I had this random thought today about Eevee being a playable character. I like the idea of transforming character but where the moveset stays largely the same. You start out as Eevee and after a number of hits there is a flash you have the ability to transform into one of its seven different forms. They're largely be the same character, lots of tackles and pounds and dashes and scratches but with hugely different effects. Vaporeon - low attack, but very high push (water effect added, like Mario's FLUDD), also high dodge Jolteon - incredibly fast, but low attack, can jump the highest, stuns people sometimes, can break through blocks Flareon - burns on attack sometimes, high attack, slowest Espeon - mewtwo-like energy abilities, teleporting abilities Umbreon - shadowy dodges and attacks that linger on you like a curse Leafeon - attacks heal you, maybe a poison attack Glaceon - freezing attacks, highest defence Just rough ideas... but I think it'd be a fun mechanic. And I think Eevee is iconic enough... certainly more liked and known than Lucario.
  23. So are all the secret characters just different coloured Yoshis then?
