Top 10 games of the decade 2000-2009
Ronnie replied to killer kirby's topic in General Gaming Discussion
10. Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks Unquestionably better than Phantom Hourglass, and a return to form for handheld Zelda games. An epic finale that wouldn't have looked out of place on console Zeldas. 9. New Super Mario Bros. Although it was missing a lot of what made its predecessors special, I thought this game was great fun with some lovely visuals. 8. Starfox Assault Probably not much love for this game, but as a huge Starfox fan, I found the Arwing sections breathtaking and I even surprsingly enjoyed the on-land levels. A great game with some top notch visuals. 7. Super Mario Sunshine Loved the island motif and the overall look and feel of the game. Not a huge amount of worlds to explore but the ones that are there are lush and filled with stuff to do. 6. Twilight Princess Definitely the weakest of the 3D Zeldas. After an outstanding opening half, the game nosedives in the second part. Still an excellent game though. 5. Super Paper Mario I'd never played a Paper Mario RPG before so this was a real treat. Loved every second of it, with some wonderful storytelling and gorgeous (2D) visuals. Great to look at and play. 4. Starfox Adventures A huge adventure game that, whilst totally linear and lacking any sidequests still had me playing with a huge grin on my face throughout. Great fun, nice bosses and some fantastic puzzles. 3. Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask These next three I found it tough to separate. Majora's Mask was a triumph for the Zelda franchise, an excellent game with a dark and mysterious tone that came out perfectly. The 3 day system and the collection of masks were inspired ideas. 2. Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker A game that screams magic wherever you look. A technological feat, Wind Waker is not only gorgeous to look at, but fantastic to play. Movement, combat and the camera system were all improved from OOT/MM and the game felt like a breath of fresh air. Stunning achievement. 1. Super Mario Galaxy A masterpiece of design, sound and gameplay, all rolled into a revolutionary platforming concept. Outstanding game. The sequel has a lot to live up to, but if it's just another 120 stars of the game thing, sign me up anyway! -
I'd say... Galaxy 2 for xmas. Zelda Wii in 2011.

Grooooan. Great post dazzybee. This in particular I agree with.
-
Ok fine, I apologise. Stuwii, no. Just buy the game, and spend 3 minutes doing the first couple of levels again.

For this, and all your future pointless questions... http://www.google.com ffs

Great post, particularly the bit in bold. With OOT, the huge transformation to Hyrule over the 7 year period gave you a good sense of impending destruction, even if it wasn't as literal or obvious as in MM. With WW, Ganondorf's plans were a bit different, so you can excuse the Great Sea from seeming quite detached. His mission wasn't to take over and destroy the world, at least not at first, it was to capture Tetra/Zelda. One of the MAJOR failings of TP was that once the twilight disappeared, you were left wondering just what was Ganon/Zant's plan. You minced around from dungeon to dungeon, no sense of impending doom, no real sense that the citizens cared or knew that anything was wrong. You just had Ganon, who'd never even heard or met Link before the end, sitting in his chair, waiting. Not great. That would be why most people see TP's second half as weak, compared to the first half of the game and the rest of the 3D Zeldas.

The Hero of Time - The Legend of Zelda Fan Film
Ronnie replied to Dannyboy-the-Dane's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Couldn't they have dyed his eyebrows?? They go to all that trouble to create this very decent looking fan film, and not even bother to make Link actually look like he's meant to be blond? And couldn't the woman who played Impa... not have? -
Ho ho ho Merry Christmas all, hope you all have a great day!

I can't believe one of the finest games of all time, Mario Galaxy, is rotting so far down in the sales figures in Japan. Unbelievable.

Well said .

My post and your post aren't articles on a website published factually. No one "hates the game with a passion" FFS. Get over it and stop being such a drama queen. The common opinion online, and not just on this board, is that TP is the weakest of the 3D Zeldas.
-
A lot of those points are personal opinion. 2. Yes Aonuma could have had it so we keep rupees, arrows, bombs etc, but that takes away some of the challenge. Big deal. 3. I thought this was explained in-game? I don't remember the exact details, but it's something like the bank manager gives Link a stamp or a 'card' of some sort that says how much money he has in his account. The stamp or whatever it is goes back in time, so tricks the bank into thinking that's how much Link is owed. Something like that anyway. Regardless, it's no huge annoyance even if it wasn't explained. 4. The time limit is at the very core of what made Majora's Mask great, not to mention challenging. 5. It felt just as long as OOT. There was far more to do in between dungeons in MM, and five times as many sidequests.

Sky Crawler (New game from the Ace Combat Team)
Ronnie replied to pedrocasilva's topic in Nintendo Gaming
It really isn't -
Burger King cheeseburgers are disgusting. Burger King fries are disgusting and hollow. McDonalds wins on those and most counts. The Chicken Royale is nice from BK though, but again the Chicken Legend from McD beats it.
-
Why? You're holding it like a NES controller, retro SMB style. That's the whole point. The added buttons of a classic controller aren't needed.
-
It's one of Galaxy's best loved tracks.
-
Buoy Base was great. Can't pick a favourite galaxy though. Music wise, I love: Good Egg Galaxy (stunning), Gusty Garden, Buoy Base, Battlerock and the Bee galaxy. Megaleg's tune was also fantastic.
-
Change can be good and is definitely needed for future Zelda games (in moderation)... but I just hope they don't go crazy and radically change it so that it's unrecognisable as traditional Zelda.
-
That's more of a Sony thing to do. It's not really Nintendo's style.
-
Super Pario Mario on the Wii was amazing. Not played the others, but I hope for a sequel
-
I'm expecting a HUGE amount of backlash when it's unveiled at E3. As in far more than when Wind Waker was first shown.

Siiiiigh. You really need to stop being so wound up by people not liking TP as much as the other 3D Zeldas. Just chill-out. - again, get over it. No one hates it. No one suggested they hated it, or even hinted at the notion of hating it. Most in actual fact, loved it. I know I did. Just not as much as MM or OOT, or WW.
