More of one of the finest games every created? Yes please.
-
I'm really hoping they haven't filled the game with Yoshi levels. Ok it's a nice change of pace, but hopefully most of it will be Mario only. Thank **** for that. Exactly. Galaxy had one of if not THE best soundtrack to a game in my opinion, to do away with orchestration for the sequel would be a bit silly.
-
Ok so Mario has his own ship, the giant mario head (a tad lame looking compared to the awesome hub world in Galaxy 1 but oh well)... So you travel to each individual world (observatory) with the space ship and inside each world, you choose which galaxy to go to. The galaxies seem to be represented by those black dots surrounding each world. Also the Mario head planet seems to have lots of Luma's scattered around, another indication this is the hub world. Still seems a little silly though

I really like the look of this galaxy: I'd be surprised if they didn't implement a hub world. As long as you can go to any galaxy you want in whatever world you want then I'll be happy. The line drawings from the world 2 pic don't fill me confidence though.

Wow, talk about out of the blue! Wasn't expecting anything about this game until E3! Just watched the second trailer, looks amazing. I don't particularly care about Yoshi personally, as I think he works in 2D Marios a lot more than 3D ones, but everything else looks fantastic. I really loved the music that's been in both trailers. What's the likelihood that it will be the game's main theme, and used as one of the galaxy's music? It's the only orchestrated music we've heard so far anyway. I'm not liking the "World 2" graphic though. Doesn't look very promising if it's linear like that. How many worlds are there? Is a world the same as a galaxy? Or is a world similar to an observatory from Galaxy 1? What about the storytelling? The look and feel of the hub world, and how you discovered new galaxies was fantastic in the first game, hopefully it'll be just as good in the sequel. Love the new title graphic, very nice. Can't believe it's coming out so soon though. Looks like we may yet see Zelda Wii around xmas time! EDIT: Just seen a pic, looks like the Lumas are back, great news.

The iPad video on the Apple site is funny. Steve Ive always looks drugged up when he's being interviewed for these types of clips and the young guy in the video could quite easily have been wanking as he made every sentence sound as annoying as possible.
-
As opposed to the over-the-top fanboy 'praise anything with an Apple logo on it' ravings in the same thread?
-
Well, those photos got my hopes up a tad.

A giant meh. Actually the thing that REALLY bothers me is the UI. That home screen with the spaced out, small icons looks horrible. Truly bad. And don't even get me started on that scaled up "slide to unloack" page. It's a shame because the UI in the new iPad apps looks good, but that home screen, yurgh. The bezel is incredibly ugly as well, makes it look very cheap. I understand it needed a fairly substantial non multitouch border so holding it wouldn't be holding the screen, but that's way too thick IMO. Oh and reading an ebook on an IPS screen? Oh dear. Price is pretty good though. Although the $80 for that keyboard dock made me laugh. Typical Apple.

Don't be so sure, given the 'flying' hint by Aonuma, floating Hyrule lands like the above could be a very likely possibility. Throw in non-linear questing, more hands-on controls with motion plus and a MM type storyline and you've got a good recipe for a 'different and brand new Zelda' they keep going on about.
-
Wii Sports resort almost seems made to test out how they can implement motion plus into the new Zelda game, which includes the flying sequence (I have a feeling that Link's method of transport will be a primitive plane)
-
This is quite believable. But then it's also quite an obvious prediction for someone to think up on the spot. Link's sword does seem likely to play a big part in the game though. We've never had swords with special powers before (not really anyway) and that customisation together with the new 1:1 motion plus control mechanic seems like a likely feature of Zelda Wii.

The ban is completely sensible. If you can't relax/enjoy yourself at the pub with your mates without having a disgusting cigarette then you need a rethink of your social life.

Mario and Metroid will have had trailers out an entire year before we've even seen the next Zelda... and you think it's more likely those two games will get released AFTER Zelda, a game we've seen nothing of and is unlikely to be rushed into release within months of it's first showing?
-
I'd go along with this. Although even March 2011 I think is a bit early for Zelda but we'll see when E3 comes around. You're comparing Pikmin and 'Project Sora' whatever that is... to Mario, Zelda and Metroid?
-
Because when was the last time a major (and most likely drastically different) console Zelda was released within 6 months of them giving consumers a first look at it? Galaxy 2, Metroid AND Zelda within 6 months? Doubtful. I mean hey, who knows, it could very well come out a few months after the very first images and trailers are shown at E3, but personally I would think Q1/2 of 2011 is more likely. Hopefully I'm wrong.
-
Not sure how they could spin that as not coming out in 2010, but I still can't see it coming out this year anyway. Looks like they learned from the mistakes of WW and TP.
-
Nintendo wouldn't be stupid enough to not take advantage of its new hardware in it's biggest gaming franchise, especially since it would fit in perfectly.
-
They wouldn't introduce motion plus controls and swordplay, and then not give Link an actual sword to use. That would be retarded, and cause uproar by a fair number more than just the 'freaks'.
-
Funny, I never had to press the d-pad, and I've been playing it a fair while. Maybe 1st person swordplay won't be for every enemy Link comes across, but you can put money on Nintendo introducing that mechanic somehow, for larger baddies or subbosses for instance. It seems pretty obvious that's what they'll go for. And it'll be implemented even better than in WSR.
-
Archery, canoeing, flying, swordsplay, and most of the others can be adapted to minigames
-
Has anyone here played Wii Sports Resort? It seems pretty clear one of the purposes for it was to test how the motion plus could be adapted to other first party games. In Zelda Wii's case, I wouldn't be surprised if the swordplay in Wii Sports Resort (which is EXCELLENT) is ported straight over. Link in 1st person (or pseudo 1st person like in WSR) swordplay is all but guaranteed. Should be great as the implementation already works pretty much perfectly in Wii Sports. Also, I can't help but wonder about the flying, which I think is one of the best parts of the game, the draw distances and freedom to go anywhere reminded me so much of Wind Waker. If Aonuma's hint about flying being the mechanism for travel in Zelda Wii is accurate, I really wouldn't be surprised to see Link use some sort of primitive plane to get around. I originally agreed with a couple of 'Kid Icarus Link' suggestions, but now I really think a plane is more likely, literally flying wherever you want to go, with a gameplay mechanic that isn't as linear and predictable as the usual Zelda formula of 1. find way into temple 2. find item in temple 3. defeat boss with item Anyway, just a few musings. Motion plus will be playing a huge part in Zelda Wii, that's for sure.
-
They're unlikely to release all 3 games until they get shown off at E3, which means all three release dates in the second half of 2010... They'll need to keep Mario and Zelda FAR apart. Those are the two main ones, so Galaxy 2 a month or two after E3 and Zelda Wii at xmas?
-
Very surprised. I hope they're not rushing to get this game out, and we end up with a half arsed attempt. So they announce/reveal it in June for the very first time, and it's released within the next 6 months? Seems like a very tight timeframe for such a big and important game.
