At least something actually happened in Emancipation! Not seen Light yet, hopefully it will be a bit more interesting with less arguing/moaning/sitting around dulling viewers. Air part 3 was excellent though.
-
Mario Kart Wii wasn't that great, the difficulty, rubber-banding and dumbing down of the franchise were big negatives. Althout 6 is still a bit harsh.
-
EDGE reviews usually are. In my opinion the most trust-worthy reviews around.
-
All sounds good. I like the comment about the maps being less linear than in the DS New Mario Bros. Anything that is reminiscent of SM World is a good thing in my book.

Something interesting needs to happen on this show very soon. Sorry, but IMO episode 4 was the most boring 40 minutes of SG full stop I've ever watched. Absolutely nothing happened. Watching boring glum faces talk about how they shouldn't be here is not interesting. The constant arguing and moaning is getting very boring. The last episode was awful, nothing interesting happened, apart from in the last 5 minutes which could have been added to the opening of the next episode.

A huge apology to all. Now let's get back on topic to more important things, namely... Will Bowser be in his smiley face floating thing from Mario World!? Has to be done.
-
I'll try not to lose sleep over it. Totally fair enough, I apologise.

I just found it strange how Emasher claims that his way is best when the vast vast majority don't use it. If it was so good, it would get adopted as mainstream. Not only do people like the anticipation and controversy of finding out review scores, but the wider range takes into account various factors in the games that can raise/lower it's quality. Sound, design, gameplay, longevity. If everything was as simple as 1, 2 or 3, the scores would become meaningless and you'd have whole groups of games put into the same category when they so obviously shouldn't be. If people want to find out about a game, they'll read the review, so the reasoning that /3 scores "gets people to read the actual review" is a paper thin argument at best. The fact that 0.0001% of reviews use Emasher's /3 scoring in my opinion, basically proves that it's a terrible way of reviewing something as wide ranging as computer games. But here we have Emasher claiming his way to be the best way to do things. I wasn't claiming /10 scores to be my idea, so ego has nothing to do with it. I was supporting the large number of sites that use this method.

I think it's a little bit egotistical and 'full of yourself' if you think that your suggestion is better than review systems all around the world. There's obviously a reason why no one reviews things with 3 stars, and that's because it wouldn't be pointless and far too vague. I completely understand the point you are trying to make, but there's such a thing as being TOO vague. Sorry it just wouldn't work. If it would, people would be using it. Ratings out of 5 are all well and good, but in such a diverse and saturated field such as video games, extra choice is good and keeps things interesting, as opposed to the dull bore a 3 point rating system would be. Back on topic, I'm excited about this game. Although I wish I was getting more of a 'Super Mario World' vibe, as opposed to a 'New Super Mario Bros (DS)' one. The former being far superior.

I hear what you're saying, but 3 possible scores is just stupid. I can maybe understand 5. That's why certain things are given 5 star ratings, but 3 is just far too vague. You wouldn't be able to tell apart the revolutionary masterpieces like Mario 64 or Zelda OOT with the 'great, fun game' like Mario Kart DD. Scores out of 100 are far too particular and specific, but scores out of 3 are the opposite, that wouldn't allow for any basis for comparison. You need something in the middle = in other words what Edge does, marks out of 10. The perfect system in my opinion.
-
...no that's just ridiculous.
-
Exactly, and that's how it should be. 5 for average. I also love how they only give out 10's very rarely. I think there's only been 8 10/10's in the last 20 or so years. Zelda OOT, Mario 64, Mario Galaxy to name three of them.
-
Same thing, I meant the equivalent of 100 possible scores. There's just no need, and something that subjective shouldn't be narrowed down to the nearest hundredth. Edge does it best in my opinion.
-
The Official Nintendo Magazine gave a Mario game a good score?! Shocking. Also, personally I hate when reviews give scores out of 100.

I'm getting bored of this game before it's even been released. Just hearing the same godawful repetitive music over and over zzzzzzzzzzzzzz I can easily imagine there'll be about 4 different background tunes for all the non-castle levels. A coupe of overworld ones, an underground one, and a water level one. Hope I'm wrong.
-
Not quite sure why everyone is loving the world maps. They look extremely plain and low-detail. Almost like they quickly did them at the last minute.
-
Yeah the koopa kids are great to see back, as is Bowser's floaty thing. I'd like to think they took a lot of inspiration from SM World, which let's face it, is probably the most the popular 2D Mario. I'm not the biggest fan of the NSMB DS visual style, but we'll see how it works here. I have this horrible feeling they're going to have about 3 different level music tunes, and use them throughout the game. That was my problem with the DS game, it was the same bloody music for most of the overworld levels! You would think that after the masterpiece in sound that was SM Galaxy, they could have a decent soundtrack this time.

 WTF were they thinking
-
What an absolute masterpiece this game is. Galaxy 2 can't come quick enough.

Need Suggestions for applications for new Mac!

I really doubt that 1) that's true and 2) Microsoft actually said that. -
Fair enough but personally I lost all faith in the Stargate producers and most of the writers years ago

Yes. Ok I'll rephrase, I don't tend to play multiplayer much. I like single player games like Zelda and Mario, so hopefully this one will be just as good single player.

GI-Joe was awful, but Transformers 2 was far far far worse. GIJoe was meant to be silly, T2 was a ridiculously clueless mess of a film. Actually, 'film' is being generous. You'd need a dozen pages to list everything that was wrong with it. Not forgetting 10,000 ish planes that will fall from the sky, causing mass destruction across the entire planet, killing human lives. And that's just the planes.

It's going to be a complete rip off of BSG. I give it 6 episodes until we're seeing replicators, pine forests, and forehead of the week aliens. SG-1 stopped being good around season 7. SGA was alright. This, might look good now (in trailer form) but I can't see it lasting more than a year or two.

A party game? meh I don't tend to play games at parties, and definitely not platformers. Hope the single player is good!
