  1. Having only played ME3 I'm desperate to play the trilogy from the beginning. I was holding out hopes of a remastered trilogy on new gen consoles but those EA gits have quashed that dream. Looks like I'll have to either give them a go on PC (not keen on mouse/keyboard set up though) or wait until all three are backwards compatible on Xbox One. Which could take ages. In the mean time I'd like to get a PS4 and get started on the Uncharted Collection but I kind of thing it'd be best to wait until after I play ME trilogy because of the gulf in visuals between that and Uncharted Collection on PS4. I would sell my gaming PC to fund a PS4/XB1 but can't figure out when to sell it and where to play ME, and then which console to get first.
  2. I think we're arguing different things here. Obviously COD mixes up the formula a little bit between iterations, they wouldn't get away with releasing a new game every year if they didn't. But 90% of the gameplay is the same, and I don't think the differences are big enough to justify yearly sequels. Obviously you do.
  3. You honestly think there would have been mech-like things you can crawl around on buildings had Titanfall not been around and hyped like crazy?
  4. That makes a lot of sense because there seems to be two versions of the on-stage demo going around online. You can tell subtle differences between them, for example the way the two construction workers move away to the side when Drake goes around the building works. They're completely different movements between both versions. It's great to hear someone was playing that live. Talk about pressure!
  5. The graphics will improve, whether by enough remains to be seen. What won't improve is the sense of over-familiarity. We've all played Lylat Wars to death, we've done Titania and Corneria and Sector Y. We've heard the comms say "My emperor, I've failed you" or "You're becoming more like your father" a million times. Why can't they give us something new like Assault did? What happened to all that creativity? That was a brand new fresh adventure, the first mission was in space, because, why not. It's the same story with A Link Between Worlds. Awesome game but I'd traversed that overworld a hundred times already, I'd seen it all. Why couldn't they have given us something completely new? No doubt the next Zelda will start off in Link's peaceful forrest town, but why not do an Assault and mix it up a little bit? They're obviously banking on nostalgia but it'll only work for so long.
  6. Ok I think your view of what makes game completely different is different to mine. I suspect had Titanfall not come out that little addition wouldn't have been in Advanced Warfare.
  7. The same old franchises do get churned out every year, FIFA, AC, COD, Rainbow Six etc, offering the bare minimum in terms of what's new. But thankfully we do seem to be seeing a fair amount of new-ish games as well. And some of the industry finally appears to have discovered vibrant colour palettes, which is refreshing and nice. Please define "completely differently". How is one COD "completely different" to next year's COD (apart from different weapons or maps)?
  8. You "hate" someone you've never met, who is as you admit, just doing their job? Mature as ever.
  9. Yeah and the Wii U has Mario 3D World, Pikmin 3, Donkey Kong and Splatoon. What's your point.
  10. Nintendo Is A Slave To Its Past Success, Says Gearbox President Randy Pitchford During this year's E3, a whole bunch of industry veterans met at the Lunch with Luminaries event. In this yearly talk Gaikai and Shiny founder Dave Perry invites big names for a in-depth discussion about the games industry, and this time around we had Gearbox Software president Randy Pitchford, Boss Key Productions co-founder Cliff Bleszinski, ngmoco and N3twork founder Neil Young, Double Fine Productions founder Tim Schafer, Entertainment Software Association president Michael Gallagher, Amazon Games VP Mike Frazzini, and Oculus CEO Brendan Iribe. While much of the chat was about big trends in the industry - such as mobile and VR - the group did touch upon Nintendo's current situation. The Japanese company's E3 presentation didn't go down as well as was hoped, and Randy Pitchford believes that the problem the firm has is that it is locked into serving its existing fans, when it should really be trying to reach new ones - as it arguably did with the Wii. Pitchford explains that while Nintendo's games are highly rated and very playable, not enough people know they exist - and he likens the situation to visiting the movie site Rotten Tomatoes to find the best films currently available: Amazon's Mike Frazzini backed this up with another example. He recently took his kids to Disneyland and asked them if they wanted to see Mickey Mouse, but found that they didn't even know who he was. However, they had heard of Anna and Elsa, the stars of Frozen - one of the biggest movies of all-time and Disney's most recent animated success. Pitchford pointed out that Nintendo is in the position of being a "slave to its former success", and that it needs to try something new to gain more fans: Should Nintendo be trying new things - like Metroid Prime: Federation Force, for example - or should it be focusing on pleasing its existing fanbase? When the existing fans have only managed to notch up 10 million Wii U hardware sales, then you could argue that Nintendo needs to heed Pitchford's advice and branch out a little. --------------- http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2015/06/nintendo_is_a_slave_to_its_past_success_saysngearbox_president_randy_pitchford Hard to disagree with any of that. It's what made the Wii so successful, going after the casual market.
  11. Last year Nintendo had 3/4 GOTY contenders, all on Wii U, and they overwhelmingly won IGN's Best in Show poll at E3. Not a great year this time around but no need to go OTT.
  12. I miss last year's E3 when Nintendo had a great showing and the mood around here was really positive and buzzing.
  13. Niice overload with the whole Treehouse team there.
  14. High res handheld with PS4 insides that can output 1080p? That won't be cheap so I can't see Nintendo going for it.
  15. I love how each amiibo costume has it's own stage complete tune, that's amazing.
  16. They reveal multiple brand new first party AAA games/hardware 5-6 times a year?
  17. From what I read on IGN and Kotaku the Square Enix conference was pretty terrible and pointless, with loads of identical trailers from the other conferences. Anyway the over-reaction re: Nintendo's show is getting a little silly now. Nintendo clearly "won" E3 last year, but they're winding down Wii U games atm and therefore had a poor show. Had they scrapped the 5 or 6 Directs during the year and put all their eggs in one basket (like Sony and Microsoft do) they would have had a great showing.
  18. I imagine they either underestimated how much work was needed to make a good openworld (the Game Awards feedback about how empty and lifeless the world seemed probably helped) or the direction of the game has changed and they had to make some major revisions.
  19. The COD generation don't care about Mario, I thought that was obvious.
  20. The Titania level they just showed on Treehouse looked a lot better tbf. Still not good enough but not bad.
  21. New level being shown on Treehouse atm. "Niice."
  22. Speak for yourself, I thought the part showing how they made the original SMB levels really interesting. It wasn't dribble.
