PlayStation State of Play (Tuesday 24th September 2024 @ 23:00 BST)
Hero-of-Time replied to Julius's topic in Other Consoles
They haven't stated that the Switch successor won't be shown. It is time! -
It did give us two of my favourite Raw segments. The Rock and Booker T rivalry was one of the best things to come out of it all.

I think that's when The Rock went off the scene for a while to shoot The Scorpion King. I know many hated it but I loved the WCW Invasion storyline.

Jammy gits. Honestly thought Arsenal were gonna hold them back. Still, them sharing points plays in Liverpool's favour and we also got to see Pep lose it with his chair.
-
City v Arsenal is turning out to be a spicy match. Can't believe Trossard got himself sent off. I imagine they will park the bus in the second half now that they are a man down.
-
Haha. Yeah, it's rare that it goes from PS5 to PS4 but some games do support it.

Exactly.

Exactly. Hate the evolutions of it. Much prefer the cute little croc.

Back in my day, legging/pegging it used to mean running away. Filthy minded forum users.

I've been in a bit of a Pokemon mood lately and decided to play one of the older games. I landed on playing Crystal, mainly because I've never fully played it before. I decided that I wouldn't be allowed to use any Gen 1 Pokemon when playing this. I can catch them but just not use them. Picked Totodile for my starter and my current team is.. Totodile Hoothoot Phanpy Hoppip Spinarak Egg ...and I won the first badge yesterday morning. I had to take my 3DS to work with me on the days my mate was driving. This allowed me to catch some of the early morning Pokemon on the way to work, otherwise I would have needed to wait until the weekend. Phanpy was a pain the backside. I gave up trying to weaken it and just lobbed Pokeballs every time it appeared. I was sick of him pegging it. Gonna do a bit of grinding while I look for Dunsparce because level wise, my team isn't that balanced at the moment. I do love all the little opening animations that the Pokemon do when they appear. Although I'm not sure about Geodude's. I mean..... Look, I know I'm trying to catch you but there's no need to call me that.

Emio - The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club
Hero-of-Time replied to Dcubed's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I ended up enjoying the demo and bought the full game from Amazon. I like how breezy the first 3 chapters have been. They don't overstay their welcome and I hope the rest of the game stays that way. The story seems very grim at the moment but the game does a good job with sprinkling a few lighter scenes in between the dark ones. Some of the interactions with characters have been quite funny. I know I've mentioned this before but I appreciate Nintendo actually finishing a game before release. I popped the cartridge in and no update needed. Lovely stuff. I really need to get some new joycons. I'm constantly having to fight with the cursor when I'm investigating scenes. I managed to play through Wario Ware and Another Code with them being knackered but they seem to be getting worse. -
Love the look of this. I've got it on my PS wishlist.

Finished another indie game this evening. What a great Metroidvania type game. Love me some NES aesthetics and this game scratches that itch nicely. You haven't got a massive array of items at your disposal but what you do have gets put to great use in order to make your way around the map. You can conjure up blocks so that you can jump to out of reach places and also summon bubbles to ride on. Both items can be upgraded so that the block will float on water and the bubble will no longer pop when you stand on it for so long. These two minor upgrades are enough to create some intense platforming sections. Trophies were fun to do. I had to do a speedrun of the game and beat it under 2 hours with less than 5 deaths. I then had to kill a boss out of sequence. This was quite tricky as I had to make my way through certain areas without my upgrades. My PS5 has fairly had some indie game love this year and this is another one that is well worth playing, especially as it cost me less than 2 quid. I'm finding more and more it's the lesser known indies that are the ones that I'm enjoying the most.

The Plucky Squire - Switch, PS5, Series S/X, PC
Hero-of-Time replied to Glen-i's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I've been reading he Plucky Squire threads on PSNProfiles and Resetera and it's insane just how broken the game is. Like drahkon, many have lost their saves, others have lost collectibles or they aren't tracking correctly and others are stuck on a level because the game has glitched. How many reviewers didn't pick up or point out any of these things is beyond me. It's not as if these are isolated incidents. All platforms are having issues with the game. -
Went up the attic to fish out my old binder that is in storage. I have a few complete sets from back in the day. Fossil, Jungle and Team Rocket are all complete. Need 3 for Gym Heroes and 5 for Base sets to be fully finished. My favourite from my collection is the Japanese Neo set. There was a small shop near where I live that sold imported Pokemon cards. I built up a good relationship with the owner and every time he opened a new box/ packets he would put aside any that I needed. Anyway, here are some pics. This last pic was a promotional set that was part of the Neo series. I remember buying it QVC!

What about this one? It's a rare, holo but then I got a reverse holo as well. Very confusing.

It's like they weren't even trying with some of this though. I mean, you have a moment where the main female character is trying to break the hold over her sister by using a song. What should have been a quite powerful and emotional moment turned into a hilariously bad one purely because they couldn't be bothered to put in some effort. Would it have killed them to give her proper lyrics? They do so in various cutscenes, so why not here? Her sister's "What the hell?" face says it all. Come on, Glen. You've known me longer enough now to know that I don't faff on with battle systems. I grind my way to victory. I have been overlevelling using that area you can farm in the main base. Then, when it comes to the dungeons, the auto battle takes care of things.

It's on my 2024 Switch pledge list. I've started it numerous times but always lose interest. Feels like a very cheap version of Persona. Production values ain't very high on it. Every time I start it again I need to play from beginning. Probably why I keep losing interest because I keep playing the same section over and over again. I fired it up last month and made it to the second dungeon. I need to get back to it at some point.

The presenters didn't have a clue about them really. The woman offered the guy £500 and he turned it down and the cards went to bidding. Straight away it shot up to £2000 from a US buyer. The old people sitting in the bidding room were looking baffled, not knowing what was going on. Think it ended on £2200.

All-new PlayStation Plus: Premium / Deluxe | Extra | Essential
Hero-of-Time replied to Julius's topic in Other Consoles
Another PS+ Classic/TimeSplitters game done and dusted. Yeah, this is a massive step up from the original game. It actually has a proper campaign with a story but it also keeps the challenge mode from the original. Some of the challenges mimic the play style of the original game, meaning that you grab the item and then head back through the level. One thing I did notice when playing it was just how many unlockables you get by just playing the game and completing challenges. Remember when those were a thing? Had the Timesplitters remake/reboot made it off the ground, I imagine it would have been riddled with microtrasactions. -
Having now played through Persona 3, 4 and 5, as much as I enjoyed them, all 3 of them were paced poorly. Hearing that this is as long as Persona 5 doesn't really fill me with excitement.

Yakuza Kiwami on Switch (24th October 2024)
Hero-of-Time replied to Julius's topic in Nintendo Gaming
You've just described every single Yakuza game. You aren't giving us a lot to go on. -
It's been a long time since I picked up some Pokemon cards. I nearly jumped in last year when the 151 set was released but hesitated and missed out. Smyths have an offer on at the moment that is buy 1 get 1 free on the base Scarlet and Violet set. Bought 10 packs (giving me 20) and spent a fair bit of time opening and ordering them. Felt like I was a kid again. As I said, its been a long time since I bought some of these and so was a bit confused by the amount of shiny cards that are now available. I got a standard card but then a few packs later I got a shiny version of it. I guess every card can be a shiny now? Not a fan of that. Preferred it when there were just a select few that had that privilege. I did snag this card (not my pic)... ...apparently it was the most sought after in this set for a while and sold for a decent price. It's not worth half as much these days but then I've no interest in buying these to sell on. I think the collecting bug bit me when Pokemon cards popped up on a recent repeat of Dickinson's Real Deal.

I mean, it could still be wrong but if it is true, then I'm as baffled as you are. They did make all those animated shorts and then there's it also featuring in that up and coming TV series. I'm not sure if that also is part of the estimated expenditure though.
