I say the point still stands, because both are figures of public expenditure (which I think is the intention). Plenty of people complain about the price of space exploration but this shows we could have collectively paid for a second mission (or doubled the budget) with the money spent watching a single movie about the racial superiority of the white man.

The Mental Health Thread - Living in the cuckoo's nest
gaggle64 replied to gaggle64's topic in General Chit Chat
I remember a guy who was very highly autistic in my degree class, it was really interesting hearing about his sense of rage and lashing out throughout his life that he could never really control. He was perpetually frightened of upsetting people as he had often done in the past as he kept speaking his mind in class, even though we all actually loved that he did and we regularly told him so. I'm glad I'm not seriously autistic, I can't imagine the sheer frustration that must come with it. -

Awk, sorry to hear you had a bit of breakdown, but sounds like she's on your side. Hope you're feeling on a more even keel soon. -
I have recent, slightly lower end Dell laptop (i3, nvidia 525m, 4gb), clears the min specs but what sort of performance can I expect? Especially during big boss encounters and WvW and the like. There seems to be a fair range of experiences with different hardware out there. Though if it stil looks decent on low settings it's all gravy anyway.

Something I just remembered.

See, what I like here is that you've apparently gone back to correct something several minutes after the initial posting. I love to see proofreading in all circumstances.

Reuters are also reporting it. RIP an actual pioneer.

Rummy, I love yah, but this has been the opening or closing statement of every speech Nick Griffin has ever given. -
Mel Gibson, Jack Kerouac and the next person I see wearing a cap with "OBEY" written on it. I know Jack Kerouac is dead BTW, but having read On The Road I sincerely feel medical science should dedicate itself to resurrecting him just so I can murder him even more painfully then the internal bleeding did.

Reading around here it's come to my attention that not all of us are all there - autistic, aspergers, bi-polar, sociopaths, introverted, schizophrenic, the list seems to go on and on. But enough about the Coalition Government... The problem I've found with metal health is that it can affect such a fundamental part of you you might not even know something is wrong, and then you don't know if anyone will believe if it is, but sometimes just saying it out loud helps. So here's this thread. Get it off your chest. Or out of your head. I've been talking with one or two folks and I'll leave them to discuss themselves. For myself after spending the full sum of my adulthood in increasingly desperate isolation justified by raging misanthropy, I finally decided to go get a referral from my GP to identify an asperger spectrum disorder. This has been something bubbling in my head for more than 2 years and I don't know why I didn't do it sooner. I always disliked heavily social situations and found myself incredibly exhausted at ones I did like. Increasingly I found myself have long, in depth conversations with people you weren't there without even realising I was falling into it. Even short shifts in class or at work have long had to be bookended with extended periods of isolation to gather myself. What turned me onto it in the end was a cartoon I happened to be watching with my housemates describing asperges, which prompted them immediately to turn to me and ask "Does any of that sound familiar?" And it did. Almost word for word what I had previously identified in myself. Now the paper work's in the system, and I simply feel better simply having finally asked for help, and I do need help. Now I just need to wait for someone in the know to get back to me, have a good fork around and tell me what's going down upstairs. So, what wires do you think you might have crossed?

This one has genuinely made me sad - Sony's Liverpool studio, formally known as Psygnosis, has been officially disbanded after nearly 30 years in business. One of the oldest surviving studios they were directly responsible for landmark moments in gaming, including publishing the first Lemmings game and creating the Wipeout racing series. The well reviewed Wipeout 2048 for the Vita was their final title. From Sony's statement to Kotaku - Although I've never owned a Playstation system I thought the Wipeout games were wonderful, but I especially thank them for publishing one of my favourite games of all time, . No doubt the older gamers among us will have similarly fond memories of their various productions. So thank you, Psygnosis. You will be well remembered.

Still in a bit of shock I think, Crimson Tide is one of the finest popular thrillers ever produced and still a favourite of mine. This guy defined the action/political thriller genre for the next decade, what a terrible terrible loss. That was based on "an anonymous source" reported first on ABC and has since be completely denied by both his wife and the coroner.

Oh yes, it's damn good fun. Only three maps but yet again Valve have proved able to produce a impeccable morsel that keeps giving and giving. Very "one more round" sort of stuff.

Whoo man, I have been feeling wretched all day today. Bogged down, stuck in the mud, big weight on me, spent most of the afternoon face down on the floor but a bag of chocolate covered peanuts later and some Classic FM has put me into the most comfortable groove I've been in for weeks. I should get a couple of bags on standby from now on.

I haven't played the beta but I'm very much of a mind these days to spend on money to support things I think are a good idea and everything I've seen and read about GW2 looks like a good idea. Supported by micro-transactions for purely cosmetic items? Yes please. Dynamic events in open areas that don't require a party entry? Yes please. Professions with different party buffs/debuffs? Yes please. An emphasis on action variety? Yes please. PvP that jumps everyone in at max level? Yes please. Being able to summon power/mecha armour that you or an ally can use? GODAMMIT YES. As I said, the breaking point was when I saw another FF14 CG Trailer promising that this time around it wouldn't be such a half-baked shitfest, with fans lining up to heap praise on something they weren't even seeing let alone playing yet, and I figured I better get under a flag that was actually going to deliver something positive unto the world in general.

UK rail fares up 6+% - Ridiculous or fair?
gaggle64 replied to jayseven's topic in General Chit Chat
To me, exorbitant ticket prices are an extension of the general mismanagement of the various franchises operating the railways, which continuously seems to produce a heady mix of short-sighted choices and moon logic economics. This morning I read FirstGroup won the bidding for the west coast line operation, by offering twice the cash Virgin was on top massive investment and improvements. Great if they can deliver, but this wouldn't be the first time things have been fouled up by a company who overbid itself to rail managers not asking enough questions. -
Brand new 5 player co-op/horde-ish-type mode mode - Red & Blue vs. Gray. Launches tomorrow. Still all for free. I picked a good time to get back into TF2 - though any time is really.

*sighs* I'll get the hose. And a STD test on standby.

Basically, Serebii comes on and he's all like "girls don't like me!" and everyone was like "relax brah!" and he was all like "I can't find one I like!" and everyone was like "your standards are too high" and he was all like "but no girl will love Pokemans like i do!" and everyone was like "jeeze that doesn't matter" and he was all "everyone else sucks that's the problem" and then Judge Jay7 stopped fighting Australian Godzilla and laid down the law with a thorough bitchslapping and rode off into the sunset and everyone high-fived and the team won the big game and little Jimmy beat cancer and the aliens exploded and the dog and the two little cats made it home and the gopher danced and everyone got laid*. It was awesome. *Except for Serebii, who won't stop making excuses for himself

I can't even begin to imagine what the purpose of hacking a generous, co-op-RPG like PSO2 would be.

Xpert 11 Season 23: The highlight of the Summer

4-3 loss, not shabby away against a top tier team for one on the bottom rung now. There's hope yet! -
Don't you have to lie to them and tell them you live in Japan to do that?
