Well I played it, both Nights and Christmas Nights (a bonus demo cd that featured new content). My younger brother has a Sega Saturn (the Saturn/N64/PS generation is the only generation of consoles I "skipped", I was too busy with my PC... :p) and both of them, and we play them even now once in a while. It's a peculiar game, it's very basic and you might even say a little repetitive, but it's strangely appealing. The colorful graphics and scenarios, the ridiculously melodic soundtrack, it somehow gives the game a "dreamlike" feel which makes it a somewhat unique game. It's far from my favorite game of all time, but I would surely buy a sequel/remake of the game. The Wii controller would be great for this game.

Virtual Console - All you need to know
Funktion replied to Tellyn's topic in General Gaming Discussion
If I press the Home button I access the usual menu and I see the game on the background, but as soon as I close the menu the screen goes black again. I know this is related to my TV, the thing is a lot of people are having the same problem, so I was expecting Nintendo to "fix" the emulator's output to something similar to what they have with TG-16 and N64 games, since those play fine. They should post a warning on the Wii shop, I bought several games unaware of this problem that I wouldn't have bought otherwise if I knew I couldn't play them with the component cable. -
Virtual Console - All you need to know

I think I'm gonna hold off buying any more VC games (except maybe a couple of TG-16 games) since I can't play most of them right now (all I get is a black screen). Ever since I use the official component cable I've been unable to play SNES and NES games. Until last week Megadrive games were also an option, since I was able to play them just fine, but I ended up buying Streets of Rage and Comix Zone only for them to not work with my TV. I really don't get it why Nintendo keeps ignoring the problem... -
I finally downloaded this game yesterday and I must say you're right, this game is a total blast, and it looks surprisingly good on my HD TV with a 3rd party Component Cable. Fast gameplay, lots of power ups, a catchy soundtrack and great graphics, what more can you ask? It's IMO one of the best games currently on the VC. Anyone looking for a great fast & furious "Shmup" should give this game a try, it's well worth the 600 points. Some footage from the first level: A Japanese TV Spot: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-uzwM0kj_8g A review of the game: http://www.classicgaming.com/shmups/reviews/soldierblade/index.html I'm surely loving the VC, since it's giving me the chance to find and play some gems I missed because i never owned a Turbografx-16 (most of the games I downloaded on the VC are Turbografx-16 games). It seems the console had a far better library than I always thought...

This game looks pretty fun and, well, cute! I'm really looking forward to play Elebits (or Eledees; why did they change the name?!), and like that game Dewey's Adventure sure made a very good first impression on me. I'm not "afraid" of a game with lots of pink and cute creatures everywhere instead of guns, so I'll surely give this one a try...

Just give me a new Snatcher game and a 2d Castlevania game and I would die a happy man...

I'm getting seriously pissed with Ubisoft. I ordered the game from their online store a month ago (as well as some figures and a t-shirt), and they sent me a package with the t-shirt + figures, but no game. After trying to contact them for 3 weeks (using the contact method they provide (posting messages on my account page, and they supposedly reply in less than 48 hours), and during this past week I even emailed them to other addresses I found (webmaster, ...) requesting someone to please forward my message to whoever handles orders) they don't even bother to reply, so I guess I can kiss my £39.99 goodbye. It's a shame, I really wanted to play the game... I might have expected this from an Ebay seller or a "shady" dealer, but from a gaming company that's a first.

I hope that's true. It's surely a game I'll pick up on release day. It looks totally bizarre and equally awesome (the art style is totally kickass). :p Just to think some fricking idiots were actually campaigning to avoid this game from getting an English release, just because the character is supposedly gay... Don't like it, don't buy it...
-
I haven't, but I'll buy one in a couple of days. Why? Because I'm weak and I'm buying the console just to play Yakuza and Yakuza 2, because the games have a few small similar things to Shenmue, my favorite game series. As soon as I saw Yakuza for less than £10 I couldn't resist and I ordered it. At least it makes me somewhat happy to know Sony will be losing some money with the console I'll purchase...

For those having trouble finding this game (like I was having; my online pre-order wasn't shipped) why not use Ubisoft's store, they have the game for £39.99 (like most online stores, although some have it cheaper) with free shipping. That's what I did, plus I ordered a T-Shirt and pre-ordered the pack with the 4 bunny figures...

I have a terrible pain in my right arm and shoulder after playing Wii Sports for 8+ hours on each of the past two days. I know you can do small movements, and I sure laughed at the videos with people jumping all over the place (of course I wouldn't do something like that, right?), but the truth is after 30 seconds or so of playing I forget about the small movements thing and I'm almost hitting everything around me with the Wiimote...

Virtual Console - All you need to know
Funktion replied to Tellyn's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Naaaaaaah... Ah, so many hours spent playing this game "against" friends, which basically meant playing the game and seeing who had the better lap and overall time. This was actually quite a fun thing to do... On a related note, this is going to be the first game I download, even though I have both the game and a working SNES... -
Thanks.

Silly question, but the component cables sold in the US are the exact same ones to be sold here, right? I'll probably import a component cable from the US, to be sure I have it at the time of the European launch...

so.... What are you taking home on the 8th?
Funktion replied to ultrajamie's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I'm getting: -Wii -TLoZ: Twilight Princess -Red Steel -Rayman Raving Rabbits -2000 points -Classic Controller + component cable, if I can find it I'm still thinking about buying (or not): -Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz -Wii Play (+ remote) -Nunchuk Controller (if I buy the Wii Play + remote pack) -
Killer 7 was certainly sold sealed. I bought Killer 7 online from Game many months ago and the game was surely sealed. Unfortunately Game likes to send returned/used copies to their customers, especially during online sales. I returned several games in the past to them because those idiots sent me used copies. Example: Animal Crossing for the Gamecube. They sent me a not-sealed game, with damage and clear signs of wear on everything including the manual (with more than one page partially ripped), the disc was incredibly scratched (it looked like someone cleaned the whole floor with it; it had scratches everywhere, fingerprints, lots of dirt/dust, ...) and even the memory card was dirty and a little damaged (and funnily enough it even had some saves from the previous owner). And I don't know which version of PES6 you are referring to, but I bought the X360 version for my brother from Gameplay and as usual it sure was sealed.

Not "gameplay related", but if you have the chance to speak to anyone at NoE ask them when will we get more information regarding the launch, we are about one month away from launch and there's still a lot of things we don't know like the "final" release dates for the games (Excite Truck, WarioWare, ...), if the 5000 points + free Classic Controller is happening in Europe (and if the points are valid for every European country, like for example buying a UK card and using it in another country like Portugal), more info about the VC games and the way it works (if it allows you to re-download the files, if after download it checks the file's integrity to avoid any download errors/file corruption, ...), ... Other than that let us know if Zelda is excellent, super-excellent or mega-super-hyper-excellent...

Zelda: Twilight Princess Discussion (SPOILERS: BEWARE)
Funktion replied to EchoDesiato's topic in Nintendo Gaming
This retrospective has been pretty cool so far. They actually took quite some time to show each of the games, and it seems there's still at least a couple more parts... -
I seriously hope Nintendo releases at least a partial release schedule for the games soon, I want to pre-order some games but I need to know the release dates first (to save me a few euros with the Shipping, plus if I order at Gameplay I'll probably have a discount because of their "loyalty scheme"). I know that Zelda, Rayman, Red Steel and Super Monkey Ball are released on 8/12, but what about the following games, is there any official word if these are released on launch day: -Elebits -Trauma Center: Second Opinion -Excite Truck (this one is supposed to be released in the US and Japan this year, but not Europe?) -Metal Slug Anthology -WarioWare: Smooth Moves (the US release was supposedly delayed until next year, but the Japanese release date is still December and all European online stores I've seen still list this as a December release; are we getting this game this year unlike the US, the same way they are getting Excite Truck and we supposedly aren't)? Also, it would be nice if they could give some info on the "points cards" you can buy, since at least in Japan if you buy a 5000 points card you get a free classic controler... It's a month and a half until the release date, what the hell are they waiting for?

That's your opinion, fine. But seriously, Final Fantasy the best RPG on any console? And Tekken the best beat em up for the PS2? Aren't you forgetting about Soul Calibur 3 and VF4 Evolution? And yes, I don't like the MGS series, so sue me. And this from a huge fan of his previous game Snatcher... I have lots of them, thank you very much. And seriously, what I do with my money is my problem, I asked a few questions regarding the console and some games over 2 months ago so I don't really understand why you decided to revive the thread just to question my tastes.

Yes it did. I have one...

Resident Evil Collector's edition.
Funktion replied to Nintendork's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Well, every single website that posted the news said it. Heck, even IGN (http://cube.ign.com/articles/736/736741p1.html). To quote their article: "So to celebrate the delicious chunk of gaming goodness that has been the Resident Evil series, Capcom is teaming up with EB Games and GameStop to deliver one final hurrah for Nintendo fans. The Resident Evil 10th Anniversary Collection is slated to hit stores October 24, a mere three weeks from now, and offers Resident Evil (the remake), Resident Evil Zero, and Resident Evil 4 together in one package for the MSRP if $39.99. This deal is exclusive to EB Games and GameStop, so if the package is anything like the original Resident Evil 4 collector's edition (also GameStop exclusive) we may be seeing some kind of collector's tin or special casing for the games to round the package off." -
Resident Evil Collector's edition.
Funktion replied to Nintendork's topic in General Gaming Discussion
This set is exclusive to EBGames and Gamestop, I seriously doubt they will release this here in Europe. -
I've been watching the new videos at IGN and the game for me has gone from "wait and see" to "must buy as soon as it's released". Those mini-games look extremely fun to play...
-
If you changed that to Shenmue + Nights + Snatcher 2, I would seriously have a heart attack. The Shenmue series is easily my favourite of all time (and this from a guy who plays games regularly since I got a Spectrum 48k), Snatcher was probably my favourite game before Shenmue was released (it easily has a place in my top 10 games of all time), and Nights (and Christmas Nights) is a game I find strangely appealing (it had somewhat limited gameplay, but the "ambience", soundtrack and colorful graphics made it quite a fun experience). I seriously hope Kojima releases a new Snatcher game, I'm probably the only guy on the planet who couldn't care less about MGS + sequels (seriously, I played it, I was really looking forward to it since I was a massive Snatcher fan, but I found it extremely mediocre, to say the least) and I find it "depressing" that such a cool universe was (barely) used for just one game.
