My brother owns a 360 since launch date, and only earlier this month he had problems.
-
Is this still available in the shops? I can't find it here in Portugal, and the online stores I checked didn't have it. There's a few Xbox games I wanted to purchase, but I can't find them. Any ideas? The games are: -Halo Triple Pack -Ninja Gaiden Black -Street Fighter Anniversary Collection -Futurama (don't ask... ; I'm a massive fan of the series, and I want it for the exclusive animation included)

A question: I just noticed that the "Mega Man Anniversary Collection" for the original Xbox is listed on wikipedia's list of backwards compatible xbox games as working on PAL Xbox 360 systems: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Xbox_games_compatible_with_Xbox_360 I know wikipedia contains lots of mistakes, but I was wondering: is there any truth to this? This compilation was never released outside of the US, and it would be great news for me if for some reason it worked on an European 360... Are there any cases of US Xbox games working on an European 360?

Yeah, if someone wants a DVD they should just pick up a DVD, I really don't see the use of a DVD side for some HD-DVD discs. Anyway, personally when I buy a console it's for it's games, not as the player of some disc format. In a year or less you'll have cheap players for both formats that do a much better job than any of the platforms. See the PS2, for example. A lot of people bought the original model because besides being a console it allowed them to play dvds. As people probably noticed soon afterwards as the format developed the PS2 started to have numerous problems with DVD playback, especially with dual-layer discs.
-
Sorry, what??? These "Combo" releases are dual-sided, with a regular dvd side and a HD DVD side. Obviously the HD DVD side is "true" HD. Please don't spread misinformation, HD DVD is as "HD" as Blue Ray.

The developers did an awesome job on Riddick, if this game is half as good as that one I'm sure it's going to be one of the games of 2007. This month is going to be expensive for me. I pre-ordered The Darkness, Overlord and Monster Madness... : peace:

Yeah, Jetpac is a blast. It's a great game to fire up and play a few levels. At 400 points it's certainly one of my "must have" games on XBLA. That's less than the price of a NES game on the VC...

New and Improved N-Europe Xbox 360 Gamertag List
Funktion replied to Marshmellow's topic in Other Consoles
I'm: Funktion l Funktion JCB So far I barely played online (and won't have time to until next week), but it would be nice to meet some of the N-E guys online one of these days (my friend's list is currently empty... :p). I guess I should start playing Gears of Wars to play with you one of these days... -
I'm far from a FPS fan (and with those games I prefer to use a keyboard + mouse), and I bought a 360. It has a number of great games already available at good prices (Dead Rising, Crackdown, Viva Pinata, PGR3, ...) and lots of interesting ones coming out soon, some of them exclusive to the console (Overlord, The Darkness, Bioshock, Mass Effect, Eternal Sonata, Blue Dragon, ...). Personally I think it's a mistake to purchase a PS3 now. IMO it currently lacks worthwhile games, and most of what's coming out is also available on the 360. If you decide to purchase a PS3 you should wait a bit more until more games are available, and by that time the price will probably have dropped. If you decide to get a 360 look around, there's some packs at great prices currently available. I bough my console from ChoicesUK, and for £299.99 I got a premium 360 (which includes the wireless controller, 20 gig harddrive, headset, component cable (which by the way it apparently isn't included with the PS3) and the remote to play dvds) + an additional wireless controller (official) + Gears of War + Crackdown + Project Gotham Racing 3 + a compilation of Live Arcade games.

Personally besides Pacman CE (which you already own), my favourite games are: -Castlevania: Symphony of the night - if you enjoy Castlevania games this one is a must have. (800 points) -Jetpac Refuelled - this is how remakes of old games should be done on the XBLA. It includes a new version of the game (which looks great and has a catchy soundtrack, not to mention 128 levels, online and offline multiplayer, leaderboards, ...), the original Spectrum game (with it's own leaderboard), a brief history on the game/company (text pages) + you can unlock 2 gamer pictures and a very nice looking theme (the one I currently use on my dashboard) when you get to level 64. All this for a great price (400 points).

Speedball II coming to XBLA. Multiplayer included
Funktion replied to Dan_Dare's topic in Other Consoles
I'm picking this one up on release date. It must be a personal record: I have Speedball 2 for the Commodore Amiga, PC, GBA, and now Xbox 360... -
God, Yuzo Koshiro + Koji Kondo + Kazumi Totaka on the same soundtrack??? Add to that people like Jun Fukuda (Contact's soundtrack kicks major ass) + Asuka Ohta (yep, I enjoyed New Super Mario Bros.' soundtrack) + Kenji Yamamoto + pretty much everyone involved... Where can I pre-order the soundtrack?

A question: I ordered a Xbox 360 from Choices last week, and it should be arriving soon. The thing is I forgot about possible voltages and "plug" differences between the UK and Portugal. I believe the voltage is the same, but the plug is probably different. Can someone please tell me is the voltage and plug is the same/different, and if I can just buy a power supply here and use it on the console (are they sold separately?), or will I need some sort of adapter?
-
Thanks for the tip, I ended up ordering it yesterday (and it's already on it's way). It's a pretty cool pack, great price especially since I wanted Crackdown and Project Gotham Racing 3 (I'm still not totally sold on Gears of War, even though I like the Unreal/UT series).
-
I don't care about the color, but I'm not sure about the HDMI port and the 120GB drive. The games look awesome on my tv using the regular component cable and running it at 1080i (my tv doesn't allow 1080p), so I think I'll just forget about that. Oh well, I think I'm going to order one right now. It will fit nicely alongside my Wii. Wii60 for the win?
-
My thoughts exactly. I'm very undecided about either buying it now or waiting for the later model. I usually hate to buy something when I know a better version is coming "soon", but I really want to play a few of the 360 games without having my younger brother swearing at me because he wants to play something (it's his console...). I'll probably pick up the ChoicesUK pack someone mentioned earlier, it looks like an excellent value for money pack.

I'm buying an Xbox 360 (I still haven't decided if I'll wait for the Elite or not), and I was wondering if you guys could answer a few misc. questions: -what's the best accessory to connect 2 consoles using a component cable to a single TV set? I have a Wii connected to my tv, and if I purchase a 360 right now I would like to have it plugged all the time, and not having to switch cables every time I want to play one of the consoles... -if I create a profile on another console (my younger brother has one), will I be able to transfer content (saved games + Xbox Live Arcade games) to my console when I purchase it? Supposedly I would be able to play Live Arcade games on my console only when I was connected online, but what about saved games or free bonus content (like the "keys" for Dead Rising)? -what games received a Limited Edition? I know Perfect Dark Zero, Gears of War, Viva Pinata and Lost Planet had limited editions (Dead Rising had one, but it was just a different metal cover), and I was wondering what other games had one. -which games on the "Classic" range re-releases featured additional content? I know Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter featured some new content, but apparently other games include on the re-releases content that you previously had to buy as a download. And another thing: is there any online store that has a good value bundle and ships to other European countries? The only packs we have here in Portugal aren't really worth it (the premium console + game pack always ends up more expensive than buying the game separately online).

Virtual Console - All you need to know
Funktion replied to Tellyn's topic in General Gaming Discussion
I'm turning into a Bonk fan. Before downloading the first game on the VC I had only played a bit of one of Bonk's SNES games. Now that I had the chance to play the first two games I'm definitely looking to play all other games. Nice graphics, a very catchy soundtrack (I've been listening to mp3's of the first game ever since I played it... :p) and simple but fun gameplay makes this a very enjoyable series. Judging from what I downloaded on the VC the Turbographx-16 had some very cool games (I downloaded 12 so far; instead of VC I should call my console a VT: Virtual Turbographx-16 ) and deserved a better fate. -
I don't know if I'm alone in this, but I'm extremely happy with some of the recent Wii exclusives announced like Opoona, Dewy's Adventure, No More Heroes and now Treasure Island Z. Some people always seem to be expecting more "regular" games like Devil May Cry or Metal Gear Solid, but quite frankly after over 25 years of regularly playing games and playing a lot of recycled themes and gameplay I definitely find myself much more attracted to these crazy/unusual/"quirky" concepts than the usual third person hack and slash action game, the typical first person space shooter or the usual annual edition of a soccer game. For me a game like Opoona has quite incredible visuals, because of it's great and unusual graphical style, while some people only care about texture resolution and say it looks like crap. Damn, I'm getting old... Treasure Island Z looks pretty interesting, and it's definitely on my "buy" list.

Virtual Console - All you need to know

+1 buy! I had a blast playing through the first Bonk, and I'll surely buy the second one (and third one, when it gets released). It also helps that I can't play NES, SNES and most Megadrive games on my TV using the component cable, so most of my VC games are Turbografx-16 games. -
I played the PC version of the game and I had a blast with it. I certainly had a lot more fun with this game than GTA: San Andreas. I'm sure if it had GTA on the title the reviews would be a lot better... Yeah, it's a GTA "clone", but with a kick ass soundtrack (including the whole soundtrack of the movie), awesome voice acting (the guy "playing" Pacino is quite memorable; and there's also people like James Woods, Michael York, Robert Davi, and even Ricky Gervais), and a few fun gameplay elements like "conquering" territory (buying fronts/businesses + eliminating gangs, ...; it gives a somewhat strategic element to the game), dealing drugs (it's like a small mini-game), (...). You even do stuff like going to islands outside of the "main" map to buy drugs and smuggle/deal them, decorate your mansion, ...

I bought the magazine earlier today after reading about this. The screenshots look nice, I'm really looking forward to the game. From the few info available on the preview it seems the controls will be exactly what I expected, and the character will enjoy a much bigger freedom of movement. OK, Nights 2 is finally revealed. Now how about Shenmue 3 and a Snatcher sequel?
-
Imagine the character as a plane (when he is flying, he pretty much behaves like a plane in some arcade flight sims, although with less freedom of movement). With the Wii remote, you could actually control the character as if the Wii remote was a plane, "tilting" it in the needed direction. Maybe they could make something similar to the controls of Super Monkey Ball: BB (although hopefully improved).
