  1. *faceslap* I've had the song "Whipped" by Vanessa Brown for years, loved it when it came out, but she never did anything else. (basically a one-hit wonder) Always wondered why, it was pretty good, and she had a good voice. THEN, I just checked her last.fm, and it turns out she is now going under the moniker VV Brown aka the girl everyone's going on about.
  2. DAMN YOU TRACEY EMIN! *trying to finish his essay*
  3. My most painful concert experiences were at My Chemical Romance and Leila Arab. MCR because it was my first proper gig, and I was virtually leaning against the huge speaker thing. Actually, thinking about it, it was Thursdays that was painful. I mean, they were a bit crap, but the sound was so bad, I thought I was going to have a heartattack. Too loud and bassy. Not even in the "good" "bad" way you talked about Dan, as the music itself was bad. Leila Arab opened for Bjork, doing an interestingly low-key DJ set. She basically rifled through a big basket of records she brought for her, and itr was generally casual. So casual she went off-stage to ask a security guy to go a shop and get her a Diet Coke... :p However, whenenever the beats got good (lot of bassy, promising, on-the-cusp-of-an-awesome crescendoes), she brought it all back down and changed it completely. Literally depressing to hear. I'm all for interesting and casually good etc, but not when it's really annoying and painfully depressing.
  4. I finally have all three of the legendary Girl Sound tapes, by Liz Phair. I had the first two, and then remembered there was a third I didn't have, now got it. I think it's the best. It's so good, the lo-fi-ness really adds to it's unearthliness...despite the subject matter being very direct and human. More timeless than unearthly. I love the original version of Whip-smart!
  5. Yeah, but the fact it's a towel she uses to be great is the best thing.
  6. Are you saying you are a fan, or you aren't a fan?
  7. Well you make an account. Then you search movies in the search bar. You can then mark them as watched or want to watch. In your profile are 2 seperate sectio nto store all your marked in each category. An you can create lists and add films to them, if you want. it's easy.
  8. I loved. Why was that woman so briliant? Using a towel so well.
  9. Bear in mind I have to live with someone whose personality is completely composed of various affectations she takes from her favourite films. Therefore I find the cuteness/affectations found in lots of anime stuff trite.
  10. Spirited Away is alright. Princess Mononoke too. The Cat Returns is rubbish. But they're pretty (except Cat Returns).
  11. Scheduled to be seeing this year, so far; Bat For Lashes PJ Harvey & John Parrish Antony & The Johnsons 3 people I've been desperate to see for ages. However, I'd ideally want to see PJ doing her own stuff more than her collab stuff...but that'll be good too.
  12. I'm skimming through other people's collections, as I find that set off more that I forgot. I found My Girl 2 in jayseven's collection, and then realised I hadn't added My Girl to mine etc. Such a useful site for a serious procrastinator like me.
  13. Ah yes. I wrote it down in my Barcelona sketchbook, but I couldn't reach it.
  14. I've obviously hardly any movie then. Only on 474 at the moment, though every so often, a chunk will come to me.
  15. Considering I have no interest in football whatsoever, I enjoyed looking around that famous stadium in Barcelona. Whatever it's called. The big one.
  16. Had a very boring Henry V rehearsal, which I technically was ta for 4 hours, having arrived an hour early. I just went to a friends house for a bit though. Now I have this evening to rejig completely my Tracey Emin essay! Huz-ah..
  17. Same. / Last night, til...3 am. Ran dry at about 480 or whatever. Obviously loads more, but they don't come to mind. I'm'a go to HMV with a notepad, noting down ones I missed! EDIT: ZOMG! SPICEWORLD THE MOVIE!
  18. I highly recommend the Wonder Woman one too. It truly exceeded my expectations. And ReZ, while it's obvious they intend to make a lot of their younger characters into "main" characters, but while it would make sense to get rid of the others over time, I can't see them doing it. It's almost too risky, as it's not like any of these new characters have a big fanbase. I can AND can't see it happening...
  19. I love how you could be in both your avatar and your sig, except it's actually Lily Allen. Still, virtually the same faces.
  20. Oh thanks! Adding stuff on Listal as we speak.
  21. I have to sort my hair out. Not short, I look like a baby in adults clothing. Never short. But It's so formless and rubbish, and it's even a "at the moment" thing. My hair will never, and never has been, good.
  22. Anyone else ever tried to keep a list of films you've watched...throughout your life? It seems like it would be LOADS but then I really want to just do it one day. I'd have to somehow organise it though. In Genre maybe.
  23. I remembered I always loved Chris Bachalo's work. The perfect mix of "cartoony" and "gritty". And is utterly dynamic. And how solid his limbs were.
  24. La Vie En Rose Actually a brilliant film. Knew nothing about Edith Piaf before this, only Je Ne Regrette Rien, as a song. Marion Cotillard easily deserved her Best Actress Oscar for this, she effortlessly slides between Piaf in her early 20's, all the way to her dying years. You feel the pain of her arthiritis...brilliant performance. Her voice was truly amazing though...so controlled and passionate. But yeah. Very touching biopic, summed up brilliantly in the last 3 minutes. 9/10
