(500) Days of Summer I really liked it. I liked that the plot was fair to the characters, no one was the "baddie" of the relationship, people change in real life, we have to deal with it. Lovely soundtrack too. Oh, did anything happen before the main titles and "Us"? I came in late, and heard the narrator speak before that. I'm so scared of missing anything. I love Sweet Disposition by The Temper Trap more and more everytime I hear it. Which is tough, as I can exclusively reveal that it's against one of my picks in the MUSIC WARS! And I think I prefer this. But it might just be the "new" effect. 8/10

So yeah, as you may have read in the HWYD thread, my mac just won't turn on. I'm fearing the worst (i.e losing everything), so this may take a hiatus until I can either get my mac working again, or retype it all out again.

Seeing people live is such an experience. One should go to at least one gig a year. [/my new mantra]

Yesterday, did nothing, Chair came round, went out at night to girl from college's house party thing, but only to make an appearance; I was headed to Chair's leaving drinks thing. It was fine, although most greats from school have gone, so the few of us there felt so overwhelmed by work friends. But some are really nice so I dealt. And it was in a really nice bar/pub/restaurant. When I got home and was reading The Bell Jar in bed, I heard the loudest bang ever, coming from sort of above me and to the left. My heart was honestly pounding so hard in fright. It *might* have been the really strong wind, but nothing that strong had happened before or after, against my window. Adding to the mysteryt, this morning my mum told me all th electricity of the house had gone out, and my sister had to go to the switchbox thing and rejiggle it. So after breakfast, I go to turn on my mac...and it doesn't turn on. Everything else electrical in my room is fine, I try swapping out the plug in different working sockets, nothing. So I can only assume my Mac just died last night, losing me all my music, documents (nothing pressing atm, except music wars...that'll be fun to retype/re-work out who was matched together) etc. Worse is that I needed the internet for images for my collage project this weekend. I'll just have to plug my printer into my mum's weird laptop/PC hybrid and pray it works.

Interestingly, Pitchfork gave Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea by PJ Harvey like...5.7 or something, when it was released. Glad they saw the error of their ways.

I liked the Toy Story films. I even remember going to see the first one, must have been 4 years old. Toy Story 2 is better I think, but the first one feels like it has more relief within it. One can find more solace in watching it.

In any case, considering I never watch TV or read that many magazines, I've seen La Roux smile a few times. And read a sole interview in heat magazine where she laughs bla blah. Also; I have no idea how one equates having a temper tantrum at the sound being off/not being allowed to complete the setlist/whatever it was with having no respect for his fans or his own music... I'm not saying I condone how stupid and cuntish he can come across by doing stupid shit like that, but it's not like he does it ALL the time. Anyway. Sounds like I'm justifying it. I'm not, but it's like...his music is still great and compelx and musically interesting/I enjoy it immensely. He doesn't write songs about his cuntish behaviour. Most people do things that are completely idiotic and cuntish behind closed doors, he's just a massive drama queen and so brings it pointlessly on stage too (which I don't like), but because he's famous, people instantly have an opinion on it, and when they get around to listening to his music after reading how much of a dick he's been twice on stage, they'll be judging based on blah blah. Some of greatest artists were madmen, but you can seperate the art from the man. (Unless it's Tracey Emin. ) I have no idea what I've even said, as I can't be arsed reading it back. In short, I hate that it seems like only I can actually see art seperate from the person. It's like the whole Amy Winehouse debacle. I couldn't have given less of a shit that she was a fugly, filthy, drug-abusing slag, the music she'd made was enoyable and showed talent. Patrick Wolf is a drama queen cunt occasionally. Big deal. Artists are human, and display human failings too. But yeah. He has more time for his fans than many people I've seen live, as welll as being a great performer, going into the crowd, around the venue, chatting while in between songs etc etc. Very amiable and funny. Back to Winehouse (this is like stream of conciousness writing), I saw her live in 2007, the NIGHT after the widely reported show she was booed off stage by a crowd after she started singing drunkenly or something. Yet my show was pitch-perfect, she was on top form. But that's not reported in the media. Patrick Wolf being a massive unnacceptable cunt to people is reported, him being a brilliant live performer isn't... I'll stop now. I can't just keep rattling out inconsequential points.

Yeah, I put similar things in quotation marks, because they're kjust grouped together in my head, loosely. And Daft Punk just never seem to give me the bite I want. Maybe if I saw them live/heard their stuff in a club or something. (Not saying it's bad or anything)

While I appreciated Major Lazer, I preferred Aerodynamic. I didn't think Aerodynamic was THAT amazing though. I think I prefer Justice to Daft Punk for a "similar" thing. Daft Punk - 9 Major Lazer - 1

It's not really their most accesible album. But stunning anyway.

I was actually going to, and then forgot. But then, it's funnier not knowing/having a pre-conceived view of the song based on the poster. And I can't bear to buck the format now. Maybe next round. Joy Division - 11 NIN - 8 Joy Division wins! / Match closed.

Wolf. As in "Grrrrr! Bark!". Eating girls in red capes. Plus; I hate the "I hate an artist's music because they're cunts/they don't smile/etc." But each to their own. I can't fathom doing that. I still llike Kanye West's music, and he's the biggest cunt ever. Patrick Wolf - 14 Dashboard - 4

TV Shows you get over so easily, cause they're "free" or feel like it if they come on TV anyway.

Eenuh, get Virgin Suicides. Or Radiohead. Hands isn't that good. Really, Symmetry is the only track to go back to, so just buy that track seperately. I don't like Laughing With by Regina Spektor. The message tells me nothing of interest. I'm aware that humans are contradictory selfish beings, and I'm sure that If I were in a crashing aeroplane, or dying from cold, I would pray to God, despite not believing in him before then. But that's cause I'd be desperate to live. Plus "powerful". It's one of her least powerful things she's ever done...listen to "Braile" for once. --- Sam Sparro annoys me and I can not place why. I should like Black and Gold but I don't. I've never listened to the album (despite having it on my iTunes).

I can't be arsed using it. And all my art is physical (as in, not digital), so I can't be bothered photographing it well. And as you say, it's not like anyone will really see it.

That's true actually. I have all her main stuff anyway, but they have all the countless official bootlegs that I'm too poor to have so that's a bonus.

I hate listening to songs on my computer that I don't own. Like Spotify, useful, but makes me itchy, knowing that I don't own what I'm listening to. So I don't listen to music podcasts. But ANYTHING is better than radio. Radio is shit.

I'm pretty sure he doesn't have that posh an accent. Think it's more "normal"/"common" dunno. I got almost to the end of the episode, then it exploded and I haven't been able to watch it since. I got to the stunning trying-to-open-desk-with-letter-opner scene.- 3920 replies

As opposed to seriousfringe? I had a fringe for the first time in ages today. I used to have proper emo-wannabe (but not shit-styled) hair, all over my face. Then one day, I became extremely adverse to having a fringe. I think the hair being in my eyes actually damaged them, as my short-sightedness got worse. And after a few hours, I had to scrape it back. I hated it. I made my forehead go all warm and heavy. But most people (me included) look way better with a fringe. So props to anyone (most people) who can have decent fringes.
