He was playable in DKC3! In a minigame.

That HUD in C is annoying me. It looks so much like Wipeout XL but i know it isn't...

Of course! Just that they're likely using their own sound code to give such high quality, that the Nintendo libraries don't support. I remember reading an interview a couple of months back about the music composition and how they're hoping to have better quality & less generic sounding music this time.

Ok, so turns out...(take a deep breath) The Wii can start up in either 32Khz or 48Khz mode. It's defaulted to 32, possibly from the gamecube days. The internal Nintendo audio library calls are all made to use 32Khz. However the DAC runs at 48Khz, so using their own sound code, developers can use 48Khz on the internal DSP, to match the DAC. Apparently the biggest blocker on this is the Home menu, it's hardcoded to use internal libraries & play the sound effects at 32Khz. So they need to do all sorts of h4xx0r hijacking of the sound code & resampling in software on the fly to make it not sound 50% sped up when played at 48Khz. Sounds like someone at HVS has been having fun.

Analog: Tie between Xbox 360 and N64. Digital: Tie between Playstation (any) and SNES. However for cube/Wii, i have one of these & it kicks ass:

I'll be doing a SM replay before starting Other M...as soon as i'm finished Metroid II. Never felt so constantly lost in my life. Last night i actually sat up in bed with the laptop on my lap behind the gameboy (well, GBA SP), to follow a map.

?!?! The Wii outputs at 32Khz. As in, everything is (re)sampled to 32Khz. How can they do 48Khz output?

I doubt Spector would put something from 4chan in the game

Friend came over on the weekend & gave it a try, ended up playing for 2 hours & didn't want to put it down, but had to get the train. He couldn't believe that anything could feel so effortless in completely immersing you - from the spot-on controls, to actually looking at things (rather than "press a button & a popup dialog explains what it is/reads"). Also, so many things were different to when i played!

Does anyone else think the 5" vinyl figure looks like Scrapper Mickey?

Hope this still comes out, given the situation at HVS...

Surprised no one's posted the theme music yet

Jet Set Radio & Panzer Dragoon had Xbox sequels... but after what they did to NiGHTS: Journey into Anti-Framerate Kingdom, i'm happy for them to leave old classics alone.

Agreed... also i can't believe Honey was dropped from Under The Pink. What a song.

The Xbox version was also smooth, but the cube version was better to play because the notches in the analog stick help you run directly forward. I originally got the PAL cube version and it seemed to have a constant judder when i played it on 60Hz. But a friend had the NTSC one & didn't like it, so we swapped I think that's a trademark Sonic Team thing, Billy Hatcher had the same jitteriness, camera glitches & falling through the environment. Didn't stop me loving it tho.

Agreed fully, and i remember wondering the same thing, until a bit of research revealed that the reviewers gave it the bad words, and Sonic fans generally had the same opinion of "closest to the 2D Sonics so far".

Never did finish SA2, i kept getting lost in the Rouge levels. But then my dreamcast's still set up on the CRT in my bedroom so could say i'm technically still playing it Sonic Heroes was my favorite 3D one, glitches n all. I think the music from Casino Park alone shoved the scales to win. Audio Come to think of it, the music from that Colours trailer has a similar portamento lead synth...

Can recognise that as the cube version from the extra billboards on the walls Here's a comparison shot i once took:

Sonic 2006 had a nice theme too. Audio
