What song(s) are you really into at the moment?!
drahkon replied to Aneres11's topic in General Chit Chat
Their new album is amazing Mike Kerr looking a lot healthier. I guess two years of sobriety help. -

And yet, I was craving a run just now. Well, "just now" was 2 hours ago Made some progress to the "more story bits" part of the game, but sadly I didn't find something in the final area. No biggy, because I will gladly do it again My playtime is now at 24 hours and I'm still not bored.

As someone who had the luxury to put in a ridiculous amount of time into Returnal during launch weekend I can say: I understand what Housemarque were going for with the save situation. I'm not going to spoil anything regarding the story, but only having "one" life for what can sometimes be a 2-3 hour run adds to the narrative. There's a certain amount of stress and fear that builds up over the course of a run, especially as the fights get more and more intense. And it just works with what the story is going for. This would be a lot less prevalent when you have the option to save-scum (via backups) by adding mid-run saves. Obviously, you don't have to do it, but even if it was possible, a lot of what makes Returnal so great would lose its impact. I do, however, also get the criticism. Not everyone can put in so many hours in one session, not everyone wants to just play one game for a while (which is my problem right now), not everyone enjoys the difficulty the game can sometimes throw at you during a long-lasting run. As always: an option would've been nice. And, as Housemarque stated, the devs are aware of the community's concerns. I'm pretty sure we'll see a save-feature soon. Sadly, Returnal's launch period has been marred by a few pretty bad issues and I fear that the talk will keep on going well after fixes have been made. Really hope that won't be the case, though, as the game is utterly brilliant and deserves success.

Fuck off with Rabbids and Minions. I hope we'll never see them again in any way or form

Interesting. For me, a Switch Lite (Pro?) might become interesting again in two or three years. I'm already looking forward to sales numbers for the inevitable Switch revision
-
Mymy, insane numbers. Are the sales Switch and Switch Lite numbers combined?

Looks like the most recent patch destroyed save data I played it for a few minutes with the patch installed, deleted the game and am now re-downloading it as per Housemarque's suggestion (they pulled the patch and reverted to an earlier version). Will see after work if my save data survived. If not, no biggie. I'll gladly start from scratch (which you kind of have to do anyways after each run) Still, not a great situation for both people who wanna play and Housemarque. But hey, they're working to get it resolved and the game is great, so...patience, my friends

I intend to watch the the anime anyways, so don't tell me what I'd be missing out on -

Have started reading Demon Slayer. Pretty good so far. The fights haven't been anything spectacular, though. Maybe (hopefully) that'll change soon. At chapter 13, so it's still early days Also gave Chainsaw Man a go. 5 chapters in and it's already batshit insane Not sure if I like it, yet. Will give it a few more chapters and decide later. Obviously also reading One Piece, which - as usual - suffers from horrible pacing issues... One Punch Man has been incredible from the start. The current arc is crazy good. Record of Ragnarok continues to have amazing fights. But chapters come out so infrequently it's infuriating Dragon Ball Super is fun for what it is. Nothing truly groundbreaking is happening but it would seem a big fight's about to go down. -
Yup, that is correct. However, I didn't like it because of Pokémon.

Hm, would Microsoft be crushed? Let's say Epic wins, wouldn't that mean MS is able to put xCloud/GamePass on every platform without any hassle and rake in profits?) Sounds to me that if Epic wins, video gaming will take one step further into a direction that would make me abandon this hobby
-
While I'm interested in the industry I really don't like reading about some lawsuits. It's all just mumbo jumbo to me Could someone gimme a quick rundown on what exactly is being argued? What's Epic's goal?

Wreckfest is good fun Already got some grindy trophies out of the way, but the one online-trophy I probably need a friend to boost (which apparently is a matter of 10-15 minutes). Can't be arsed to try and get 20 wins Anyways, the destruction is indeed very fun, as is the actual racing part of the game. Not bad, not bad.
-
I'd be surprised if we see anything other than Spider-Man and Ratchet & Clank from Insomniac Games in the future
-
Wreckfest is up for grabs. Downloading now, looking forward to testing it later today. I'm in the mood for some vehicular destruction

I've decided to put the Returnal Platinum hunt on hold for now. I love the game and I kinda do want to play it, but its way of handling saves, or rather lack of saves makes it impossible for me to play other games in-between. You can't save and quit...close the game and the run ends. It wasn't a problem for me when Returnal was the only game I played but now it's a little stupid as runs can take up to 3 hours Housemarque has gotten their fair share of criticism for this, are aware of the issue and will most likely patch in some kind of solution soon. Sooooooo last night I started playing Bugsnax. 45 minutes in and it's both charming and incredibly annoying and I'm not talking about gameplay. The characters are cute, imaginative and funny but oh so fucking annoying Not sure how long I can deal with that
-
After 20 pretty stressful hours with Returnal I decided to find something in my library that keeps my heart rate below one million: Vostok Inc. It's a clicker-game with twin-stick shooting. Yes. Nothing more, nothing less. Played this way back in 2018 but never gotten the Platinum. Didn't take too long to clean up some trophies and there it is:

I've watched Citizen Kane for the first time a few weeks ago. Sadly I was spoiled by a podcast (thanks Conan O'Brien) a few days earlier...However, I don't really think it matters that much. It's an incredible movie. Also: Gotta agree with that one transition you talk about...it's odd, to say the least

After 19 hours the credits have rolled. Housemarque, you've outdone yourselves. What a magnificent experience this was. Gameplay, graphics, sound, narrative...absolutely top-notch. There's still a lot of items to discover and most importantly: it looks like there's some more story bits to find. Speaking of the story: It's wild but executed quite nicely. The ending...weird, but I assume there's more to learn. I'll go for the Platinum, which apparently requires 100% completion so I'll probably get to know most of if not all of the story/lore. I've spent about 40% of my time since release (i.e. right now ca. 48 hours ago) with Returnal My biggest takeaway? Housemarque is one of the best developers out there. I hope they find success with their latest game and will continue to create videogames that are just pure fun. Also, and I'm going to sound like a broken record: the DualSense is the real deal. Using the adaptive trigger and haptic feedback technology in the PS5's controller was a stroke of genius from Sony.
-
Totally agree. CLEANSING FLAMES IS THE OOOOONLYYYY WAY TOOOO REPEEEEENT RENOUNCE WHAT MADE YOOOOUUU WORDS THAT KILL WOULD YOU SPEAK THEM TO ME?
-
Adam good. Matterfall isn't that great, though Maybe going for the Platinum would change my mind, but playing through it once was just an average experience. But, yay, you bought the game
-
A spectacle indeed. Third boss spoilers incoming (15 seconds footage) Phew! Beat it, progressed quite a bit further but will refrain from talking about it as to not spoil more. Not sure how far I'm into the story/progress/game, but it just keeps getting better and better.
