I have...literally no clue how you could claim that. Gameplay is TIGHT. It's precision engineered, a thing of beauty. I dread to think how much time they must have spent playing through their levels to make sure the music matched up to your character movement. If you're going to say the rest of the game was dull, the gameplay was pretty tight elsewhere too. Such a great game and a breath of fresh air in the face of the Mario Bros format, which has been pretty conserved for decades.

Cool, if from what I understand from his post, Deathjam may have already done all the nightfalls? If that's the case, Shorty would be more than welcome to join on Monday since he actually needs to do it. Apologies if not.

The Map in Super Mario Bros U might looks very colourful but it has been done so many times before; in my opinion, 3D game hubs are much more interesting. Jumping through a painting in Super Mario 64 was inspired, made even better by little Easter eggs like jumping through hidden walls, into ink/oil, into a window, looking up at the sun. I was disappointed to see the map mechanic make its way into New Super Mario 3D world (along with the map associated 'worlds' and facing mini bosses along the way). It made the game feel like somewhere between a handheld and console game, and I think the map system limited the freedom of the game.

I'd disagree there, I got very bored of the game. That series has really run its course in my opinion. It's too cookie cutter in the way they make sequels to it. Same themes, environments, gameplay, the way you advance over the map. Pretty much everything bar a few new power ups each time feels the same tbh.

Ah damnit. RNG trolls me again.

Ah bollocks, hope not. I only just got that in a raid. Also, how can people know what he's going to sell? Can you pretty please do this on Monday? Same with @MilaGi too! I am down in Manchester this weekend and back Monday, pretty early so could realistically play any time from 5 onwards. If you want the loot earlier then I understand. But we can only do it a set number of times per week anyway.

Anyone else think that looks eerily like those McDonalds chicken nugget toys?

I was planning to do one today with Eddage, might not be on until after 10 now though! Fine if Eddage wants to do it with you guys...

Many people would argue that Sunset Overdrive was to Sony's Infamous. Anyway, hope not. I haven't played Sunset Overdrive and while it looks kinda good, it doesn't look amazing, while I firmly hope this game is awesome.

I agree that the situations are not the same, you can't compare his job to a normal job when it's not a normal job. Even if someone has broken the law, it's dependent on the company whether they'd continue to employing someone (many wouldn't due to company image etc). But if continuing to employ someone might be incredibly beneficial to the profit of the company then they can choose to keep him on.

@Ronnie in the interest of balance would you also do a compilation of you complaining about the people complaining? Maybe you can also do one of people telling you to add people that bore you to your ignore list? Such fun times to be had!

General Gaming Sales/Charts Discussion

Wii if I didn't know better, I'd say you were bringing up some irrelevant data to avoid a rather strikingly obvious truth - that Sony and Microsoft's consoles are very popular, and very good platforms on which to sell your games. Whether console makers suffer losses in past generations or whatever is totally irrelevant to the discussion of Nintendo potentially going third party to sell their games on other consoles (ie. not make consoles themselves). In fact, by pointing out losses in making 'high spec hardware' consoles (ie. Sony/MS consoles) you are in fact undermining your own argument where you say Nintendo should compete by making a high spec console! -

Hang on, let me just check if you've got a point there. Sorry, turns out you haven't. -

Well my views on that... Pay a royalty but get far more sales because your games are on a console people want versus pay no royalty but sell hardly any home console games. Makes more sense for them to go route A. You argue they should compete with other consoles, but then say they should be able to retain hardware vision. If they are to truly compete, it will mean going head-to-head on specs. They won't be able to make a Wii U gamepad if they compete on specs, while keeping their console affordable. I always think their best games are great because of the software, irrespective of hardware. Good! So what? They can get another job. People losing jobs should never be a reason to hold back progression. The age old argument of libraries and the internet crops up again. Means nothing, that comparison has been done to death but Nintendo and Sega are different companies in different positions. Sega's death was on the cards long before they went third party. Why not look instead at games which were exclusive to one home console, that now aren't? Look at GTA - wowzer. To the extent it renders the comparison invalid? Don't think you do. -

I don't doubt some people would disagree, but I'm arguing the case for reality and not the outsiders. If people like, they can view my comments as the view of the overwhelming majority (in light of most people not buying any Wii U games), rather than all people. PC seems to manage. The games are cheaper than on games consoles and online is free. -
If you mean they don't go to the front of the screen and say "Hey, this is staged by the way, roll clip" then yes, just like any other comedy entertainment I can think of, they don't go out of their way to tell you it's scripted. It's obvious to people it's staged and if you're not being critical about it then it's quite easy to enjoy it. It's just scripted entertainment.

It's obvious but that's not a problem if you don't be overly critical of it. I interpret it as a heavily staged but ultimately entertaining show.

Not really, X1 and PS4 are each other's competition (and to a lesser extent PC). Nintendo don't really compete with them as they don't offer as good a package. I still think going third party is more important. Hardware parity would sort out some problems but not their image, not necessarily their OS or their childlike online policies. And most importantly, relationship with developers. Many mountains there that to me say the best bet is third party. -

Yeah, they shouldn't put their software on hardware people actually want to buy. Dat madness. -
You're in the minority I think, most people find it very interesting as it is. A former presenter came forward to say that Clarkson is integral to the show and was responsible for it going from a mostly technical show to 'pure entertainment'. I'd have to agree as any sections of the show that focus just on car specifications are dull as dishwater. The gold can be found when they do silly things with a car element to it.

@Eddage and anyone else do you fancy doing a couple of nightfalls on Thursday? I should be on a bit later, around 9:15 latest. Possibly earlier but I'll see...

Really makes you wonder what they'll do next gen. Like I've said before, they should put their home console games out on other consoles or at least match the competition hardware. Clearly it's not sustainable to carry on like this. -
I think it would be really daft to get rid of him. The 3 guys have built up a dynamic and there's no denying Clarkson is a big reason the show works. They'd really screw themselves over if they sacked him.

"We had to cancel it...The Nintendo Store". Well that settles the blame game then!

Tell Lady A you do want her out, for the lulz. If the guy spends most of his time there (and sleeps over a lot) then maybe he should think about paying his way?
