  1. In which case, GAF is still not representative of all gamers. Regardless of the reasons, Wii U is not a popular games console within the gaming community, as only the minority own one to buy games for it. To have a place with so much praise for these games and the inevitable "I'm getting this" type comments is not reflective of reality. Also, I think you'll find that if people were generally as positive about Nintendo's games as you imply GAF are then they'd go out and buy a Wii U regardless of whether it played COD or not. Truth is, that ain't happening. I don't think you've seen any posts by @kav82. Some people do care about that feature you know.
  2. It's not representative of reality, or the true 'gaming community' (ie. ALL gamers), which is the only thing you should be concerning yourself with. Like I said, Wii U games typically bomb in sales. This will almost certainly bomb in sales (in the charts for a week or few then gone) If what you're saying about GAF is true, this place is more representative of reality as people are far more critical about Nintendo. Just like people in real life who shun the thing.
  3. That's funny. Like NeoGAF is representative of reality. This game is going to bomb sales wise, just like nearly every other Wii U game. If everyone was as enthusiastic about Wii U games as NeoGAF apparently are, Nintendo would have no problems at all! I dare say there's probably a lot more people thinking negatively about it, and Nintendo's other games in general, for so many to pass by their latest console.
  4. It's nothing to do with how I feel right now (e.g. 30% sure I'll buy or 80% sure). It's entirely to do with circumstances beyond my control that haven't happened yet (how quickly it drops in price, community aspect, how great people perceive it to be). We literally have no clue right now. For that reason, I can't answer the poll.
  5. Oh, so you mean it was a joke as in an insult! So why were you telling Kav he was overreacting if you really were being negative about it?
  6. The sitting on the fence option is entirely necessary because people like myself have no idea whether they will buy this or not, so can't answer the poll. Could be it turns out to be a big deal, or drops off in price to the point I might be tempted to pick it up. Regardless, there are people who so hate the lack of voice chat that they know they won't buy it at all, but for many like myself it could be a very situational purchase.
  7. You say it's a joke...that you then went on to say has actually been your experience with voice chat. You realise what a joke means, right?
  8. Too good to be true.
  9. I'll be on from likely around half 7. Maybe time for one or two... Reminder, Hard Crota + 2 normals 8:15 PM tonight: Sheikah @Shorty @Eddage @Deathjam @DriftKaiser @Zell
  10. Can you put a don't know option? For some people it may depend on how cheap it goes and/or how favourably it is received, or how chaotic it turns out to be without voice chat.
  11. More ignorance. Yay! Anyone who has played a game like Destiny knows that it's not like that, and definitely not if you play with just your friends. Unless you keep really shitty friends.
  12. From what I've read, the game sounds amazing. I will ask for this as a birthday present in a couple of weeks, because I am a tight bastard.
  13. New for £11.50
  14. They're very samey generation to generation, if you played the last gen then arguably you might not need to invest in the console this time round. That was my point and I'm pretty sure you knew it (I was not challenging the diversity across these games, just the repeating nature of the content). Most of their games change only superficially. In contrast, most of the games or gameplay styles you knock on other consoles came about on that generation (in terms of generations now finished that we can judge, ie. PS360). You'll no doubt make some point that they had a lot of sequels but it at least shows that new ideas are surfacing generation to generation there.
  15. @dwarf gourami +1 point on argument bingo there I think. You know you got it. Regarding sameyware Ronnie, don't you think Smash 4, Mario Kart, Mario, Zelda, Pikmin, etc are all quite samey in the sense that it's more of the same? Accusing other consoles of having samey content seems a bit rich there.
  16. Parents, please understand...
  17. And yet Happenstance remembers being confused at the time. The fact some people get it and some don't shows that it wasn't clear at all. If you misread the question then you fucked up and you screw up your future. That's why you have to read the question very carefully. If Nintendo brand their product the Wii U rather than Wii 2, don't open with a very clear message "this is a new games console, a sequel to the Wii", nor emphasise at the right points, they will suffer consequences if their product is not reported properly. That's why they have to be careful to get their message across. See, here's a problem. You say they are incompetent and yet Nintendo were not exactly very clear about it. Certainly not as clear as they should have been. It's like saying that you know you're working with morons with listening comprehension difficulties yet chose not to spell things out super clearly to them. A question to you - did journalists similarly report the appropriately named "PlayStation 4" to be an add on for the PS3, or a new console? If they said it was a new console, why might that be? The answers to that question summarises everything I've already said here.
  18. Nintendo already had an incident like that with the letterbox app and inappropriate material... is their brand tarnished? Genuine question - if you think it isn't, maybe that's showing you that Nintendo's policies aren't really preventing anything. And really, parents haven't all taken away iPads/android tablets from their kids despite those consequences almost certainly having happened in a few cases due to the more open nature of these platforms. So what gives? NB - so long as you continue to justify the merits of this practice, I can see people constantly challenging you on this.
  19. If parents don't setup parental controls then it's their fault. Simple as that. You shouldn't give a PC to a kid without parental controls and not watch them, no excuse for a games console either. Especially given how they all have web browsers these days. I don't know who Nintendo are even catering to anymore with policies like this. Parents aren't even bothered by it! Xbox 360 is arguably more used by kids for Minecraft (look at how that continues to sell vs Wii U games...). Kids wouldn't be let on those systems if parents were so offended by the inclusion of voice chat. It's not like you can't see if a kid is voice chatting anyway - they're wearing a bloody headset!
  20. That argument has been made again and again, no point justifying their silly choices. Parental controls exist.
  21. You'll still have a fully bootable copy of the game. Just enjoy staring at the screen "servers not found".
  22. See, if you had voice chat you could express some.
