A staff member on twitter said they packed the games already but didn't ship them so as not to break the street date. If this is what they're doing now then I'd rather not chance it with them.

Same with TheGameCollection. Annoying as I'm going on a week trip to San Diego with work from Wednesday. Definitely won't be using them again for preorders.

TheGameCollection "processing" and on Twitter they said they would ship Monday. Not holding much hope that the Twitter post was wrong. :/

I'm not sure that's true. A quick look at the articles on the Japan Times suggests that Japan is hit by all the same hallmarks of a Go craze as countries in the West. You would be forgiven for thinking that though as when the craze hit it wasn't out in Japan yet, so it's easy to think that Japan just weren't part of it. It's also worth noting that there are more 3DS systems out there now than back when the previous Pokemon generation launched, and the new games are somewhat of a shakeup to the series that may indeed be bringing players back, irrespective of Go's effect. I think it's difficult therefore to say that more preorders necessarily means that's down to Go. What can really tell you something though is if the games sell less than the predecessors, even with more systems out there. Then you start to wonder what effect Go is really having.

But if it's selling less than a previous entry then it just suggests there's less people buying it but more are preordering, surely? I guess details for the rest of the world will give more information.

But where was that 'lift' from Pokemon Go? Less sales than the previous titles - surely not? On a side note, I am happy it is doing well. I just wasn't convinced that Go would have any massive effect on bringing more players to the new games.

Nah I'm really not because supposing you get a discount for sending it in, you'll still be paying like £30+ for a preowned Wii U game, then whatever the discount price is. And before you counter that, I find it very unlikely Nintendo will give it you for free for sending a game to them. That will just cost them more money to process all these games being sent to them while making no money back in return. Just no way. Don't see them ever running such a thing anyway. Nintendo will happily charge again I think. More likely any ports will just be a bit cheaper than new games. Or just the same price, because you know, 'screw them'

I wouldn't say they supported the Wii U for that long (not properly, anyhow). Has to be one of the shortest generations I can recall. Also if they had released another system after say just 3 years, the backlash and lack of support would have been tremendous, so I think it's the position they found themselves in that made the Wii U go on as long as it has really, more than their good will. They might give a discount to people who bought the Wii U versions but the 2 full price Zelda Wii U remakes indicate that they might not be as good as you make out. Especially when many other companies package more than one remaster into a box and they're often a bit cheaper than your standard game.

Then it's no deal to announce it this way really. People who can't live without Pokemon will buy it now anyway, and most people who just want the better version will wait. Giving the consumer knowledge to inform their purchases is far from a dick move for us, that's for sure.

You call it a dick move but it's actually a pro-consumer (but anti-Nintendo move). People who buy the 3DS version might be disappointed to see a newer and better version of the same game they've already played is out in just 4 months or so. Not everyone wants to pay out twice. If the Switch is 720p then this is a no-brainer really. The 3DS should have been retired long ago.

Apparently this is a pretty good game. I liked the first one and this is supposed to improve on it in every way.

In the 3 or so times Prime have not delivered an item to me in a day I have complained to them and got 30 days extra Prime membership each time, and even got them to send replacement items right away by priority mail. Just badger them til you get your way.
