Ugh, I'm starting to hate Darkrai as a raidboss. I mean, he is super cool and an amazing dark type attacker, but his buffed T6 stats make him hard to beat and his left-right-movement on the catching screen makes the catching annoying. Plus, I'm not getting any good IV ones after ~20 raids. I think I'll quit raiding him as soon as I have 130 candy (102 atm) and I'll just power up my 87% one with 15 attack IV.

Yesterday I completed three of the halloween quests rewarding Sneasel. I got two 98% IV Sneasel at first and then a 100% one! And this morning my Go-tcha snatched me a 100% Drillbur! Crazy lucky.

Well, the game sure has its flaws in story and especially story progression, but it'll make sense in the end. There will be a part in the story where many many things get explained in a short period of time. Another thing to note is that the current events of FFXV are not always directly served for you on a plate. Are you listening to the radio in the cities/ gas stations from time to time? You might heat tidbits about the current situation of other characters etc. in there. I think there were also newspapers lying around. It's been some time since I completed the game, so I only remember vaguely that I found some interesting facts here and there. But overall I was pretty invested in the story and I think it's pretty well done, but its presentation could be improved a lot. Well said, that is easily one of my favorite soundtracks ever, together with Hellfire!

Well... so it was that leak. But how is this "received from Pokemon Let's Go" going to work? As much as I dislike Gigantamaxing as "new" feature, I sure like my Eevees and want to know about that. EDIT: Nevermind, it's just save data. For some reason I didn't get that at first.
-
Ah, hadn't seen that before. That would be a bummer, as I am personally not interested in that part of the game.

150 hours, now I completed all game scenarios. My final verdict: The top story is the Golden Deer, closely followed by the Blue Lions. The Black Eagles routes are far inferior. More inside the spoiler tag.

Is this info only going to be on twitter or what? But whatever, looking forward to new info. Due to my recent talks with a colleague (of which I didn't know that she's a pokemon fan), who's planning to buy a Switch + Pokemon Shield on Black Friday, I'm full throttle on the hype train for this game now.

You can read up on the ticket here: https://pokemongolive.com/en/post/a-regi-return-2019/ As things are, it seems to be "only" a special research. It also encompasses raiding for the other Regis. What's more, the Halloween event is starting on Thursday 9pm GMT. https://pokemongolive.com/en/post/halloween2019/ As usual we'll be getting boosted ghost and dark type spawns and double candy rewards. Yamask (+shiny) is also coming, along with new costumed pokemon and the most interesting part: Darkrai in raids! That will be amazing! Such a great and strong pokemon will be a welcome addition to my attacker team.

There's also the possibility of Galarian Ponyta/Rapidash getting new a evolution, turning them into a 3 stage evolution line. I could see something Pegasus alike for example.

Most people expect this to be a "local GoFest ticket". As in, all spawns around you will change into event spawns, you'll get a special research that will encompass these special event spawns and most likely there'll be higher shiny rates. IF that is the case, the general idea is fine. GoFest tickets were around 25€ and you also had the price of travel and accomodation. But of course, a GoFest is also an physical event and not only a digital one, so you get way more experience for your money. But nobody (or at least rarely anyone) complained that GoFest visitors got Celebi/ Jirachi sooner or that they get Unowns. Because everyone knows that they'll get Jirachi later and most GoFest visitors will easily trade their Unowns without wanting anything special, because they just have so many. Heck, I was completely willing to trade an Unown for a Rattata just to help the player, but he still insisted to give me a shiny I want. Anyway, again, IF the "Colossal Discovery" is such a ticket, then I'm not against it, especially if it's only a bi-annual thing. That's so lucky! I'm still missing Golett and Deino (and their evolutions of course). I also still need to evolve Pansear (missing the Unova stone), Ferroseed (I'm at 30 candies) and Litwick (found only a single one yet). But I guess Litwick will be everywhere for the halloween event.

Yeah I'm personally traveling a lot. Got Heracross and Corsola in Costa Rica, Chatot and Relicanth in New Zealand and Tropius in Spain. And coming back with these also allowed me to easily trade for the other regionals. Visiting the GoFest in Dortmund then netted me Azelf and Uxie. As for Unova, I really like the size of the first wave. Sinnoh was dragged out so much, but hunting down quite a bunch of new Pokemon (and not being finished in a day or two) is really refreshing.

Lazy thought: Metroid should learn something from BotW
ThiophenSJ replied to LazyBoy's topic in Nintendo Gaming
You're right, I see your point. I guess even a cavern or facility can be designed more openly than parting it into many rooms. Also, @Sheikah is right, I kinda missed your point of removing the doors and giving the player more freedom in exploration. Maybe A Link Between Worlds would be a good comparison here? Let the player tackle the areas (dungeons) in the order they want, but you still have to do all of them to get into the final area. As in, Samus has to upgrade her suit no matter what. Because I think that part should stay. I believe Dark Souls is great. But I'm not that much into realistic styles + violence + darkness. -
My Pokedex is looking like this in Pokemon Go: Kanto 151, Jotho 100, Hoenn 134 (just missing Kecleon), Sinnoh 99 (which is the current maximum, they're still missing Mime Jr., Rotom, Regigigas, Darkrai, Arceus, Manaphy, Phione and Shaymin) and Unova has 26 at the moment, so there are still many missing even from the current first wave.

Lazy thought: Metroid should learn something from BotW
ThiophenSJ replied to LazyBoy's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I read the previous comments and ideas and want to add another thought here: How well would an open world Metroid work, considering that Metroid games are mostly played out in caves or facilities? Sure, Super Metroid has Crateria. Metroid Prime has the Tallon Overworld. But the biggest parts of the games are still in secluded areas. And that's not because the games have to be linear, that's because secluded, dark and lonely places are what makes part of the Metroid vibe. I think when you ask people about their favorite area of the games you will very often hear Brinstar or Norfair for Super Metroid and the Magmoor Caverns or the Phazon Mines for Metroid Prime. And while it would likely be possible to create a mostly underground open world game (haven't played Dark Sould, so dunno about those), I personally think that the execution of this might be difficult. What's more, "secluded and lonely" is not something you would like from an open world game. BotW was great for Zelda. But Metroid Prime 4 can stay in its roots in my opinion. -
Niantic always seems to have some problems with the implementation of some Pokemon. Smeargle also took them long enough, but was finally released with the photo mode. Shedinja was only a one time research thing by now, it's not in the wild, not a tasks, nowhere to be found. Same goes for Spiritomb. Kecleon is still on the wait-list and Mime Jr. also seems to make them troubles due to Mr. Mime being a regional. But Niantic sure handles these things cleverly, as in the end the missing Pokemon are released in some sort of special event, making it look like it was all planned in the end.

Well, what do the MCU fans of N-Europe think about phase 4? I personally can't get enough of these movies! Spider-Man Far From Home (and especially its ending) really hyped me again for more. I'm mostly looking forward to Doctor Strange and the Universe of Madness. The title already sounds interestingly strange and I like the character in general. Thor Love & Thunder will likely be great as well, same goes for Black Widow, even though the choice of timing for this movie is very oddly chosen. And then there'll be Shang-Chi and the Eternals as new IPs. Even though I don't know anything about them, I'm looking forward to these movies going more into Marvel's cosmic backstory (Eternals) and into the beginning of the MCU (Shang-Chi connecting back to the Iron Man movies). What I dislike however are the several Disney+ projects. While they sound interesting in general, the idea that they'll be connected to the movies is not something for me. As I said, I love the MCU, but I don't have the time to watch 8 and more series of who knows how many episodes, which are also exclusive to a streaming platform that I'm not slightly interested in. I just hope the connections to the movies will be on a minimal level.

Are we talking about the Marvel Cinematic Universe and not films of Marvel properties in general? Then the answer is 23. And it goes on, Black Widow, The Eternals, Shang-Chi, Doctor Strange and the Universe of Madness and Thor: Love & Thunder were announced and furthermore Black Panther 2, The Fantastic Four and Blade were confirmed to be planned. While I'm personally a huge fan of the MCU movies, I don't like the whole Disney+ stuff, but that's something that doesn't belong here. Well, to be frank, the MCU movies have become quite independent from the comics by now. I know where you're coming from, that the characters and stories originate from another medium, but the Marvel Film studios have really changed the backstory or the course of many of these storylines and characters. Best examples are Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch not being Mutants but Hydra experiments and Captain America not dying in the movie version of Civil War. Also, comics like Guardians of Galaxy or Ant-Man were never popular. Getting these characters on the big screen and making them so popular, I really think that they're taking risks with their choice of content and aren't unoriginal.

So few? I mean, I of course heard about all the buzz that Sword & Shield will not feature a full national dex, but I kinda imagined that they'll cut maybe 100 or 200 pokemon, which still leaves us with many left.

There's so much happening in Pokemon Go at the moment! The Water Festival is ongoing, and then there'll be 3 weeks of ultra unlock boni, including the (start of) release of Gen V in mid-September! Really looking forward to some new Pokemon again.

Nah, I'm fine with my new account, but thanks for asking. The problem is, I don't remember the password of my old account and the email-adress is not existing anymore. But anyway, I don't need the access back. You can delete it though, if you want.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot — 17th January 2020 (PS4/XBO/PC)
ThiophenSJ replied to Julius's topic in Other Consoles
Another game I tried at the Gamescom. I was very underwhelmed. However, the demo seemed to show a very early state of the game. The general idea of an open world Dragonball RPG is interesting, but in the demo the world seemed empty and the available sidequests were just "Beat up some robots" or "Get dinosaur meat (by beating him up)". The main battle of the demo was against Raditz and played out in two phases, which were generally quite similar, only that Raditz used an additional special attack in the second phase. The battle system and especially your flying/ movement felt clunky and slow, so I got hit by Raditz quite often. Also, there many collectible orbs in the air during the overworld part. The tutorial said that these will be for your leveling/ attacks/ abilities in the final game. But due the clunky flying controls, these were a pain to collect. I think the game could be good if the controls get improved (or if the gamescom demo was just too unpolished in that part). Generally, I really liked the Naruto Ninja Storm games - exploring the world by yourself and having the fights as their own sub-part - and Dragonball Z Kakarot seems to improve on this formula by making the world and the fights more interactive. -
Pokemon Sword & Shield was the third game aside from Link's Awakening Remake and Luigi's Mansion 3 I played at the Gamescom. At the beginning I want to say that the last Pokemon game I played was the Black Edition. I completely skipped X&Y and Sun&Moon. Mostly due to beginning to dislike handhelds as well as a feeling of stagnation from the Pokemon series. Thus, I don't exactly know if all of the following "features" are actually new, but for me they were. The demo allowed the player to complete the Galar water gym. You fight 3 trainers, solve the puzzle and are kinda guided through type effectiveness through the choice of Pokemon of the trainers. It immediately stood out to me that you get additional information about your attack, its effects, the type of all your Pokemon and the type of the enemy Pokemon from the attack screen and the team screen. Since there are just way too many (and now for me now unknown) Pokemon, I found this to be extremely helpful. The gym also has a new healer person now, so you can just heal your whole party in the gym whenever you want. The gym leader battle then featured a Dynamax fight. Well, to be honest, I didn't find it particularly interesting. It was just unnecessarly flashy and time-consuming due to longer attack animations in my opinion. Overall however I am still interested to get back into Pokemon - if only for the reason that it finally is available on a home console and that I can play it on TV.
-
I also played the demo of Luigi's Mansion 3 at the gamescom. Like @Tim B said, the controls needed some getting used to. I was confused that I couldn't make Gooigi disappear after summoning him? Or did I just not get that part? The thing is, the camera pans out when Luigi and Gooigi are far from another, to keep both of them on screen. This however, for bigger rooms, can get a bit problematic when you're looking for small secrets. I just can't imagine that this is intended though, maybe I was just to dumb to figure it out. Aside from that, I really liked the demo. It gave of a good Luigi's Mansion vibe, had some interesting puzzles involving Luigi and Gooigi and the boss battle against a ghost knight was also very well made, albeit quite easy.

The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening REMAKE — 20th September 2019

Well kinda. I had an account before, named Thiophen, but I was unable to get back into it. Thus I've just been lurking semi-constantly, until I finally had the urge to write something. -
The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening REMAKE — 20th September 2019
ThiophenSJ replied to Julius's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I played the demo version of this game at the Gamescom. Basically, there's nothing special to say about the demo version. You had 15 minutes from the beginning of the game and could use them however you want. In these 15 minutes I quickly grabbed my sword and shield, got the key for the worm palace out of the forest, getting the magic powder along the way, entered the worm palace and some rooms into the dungeon my time was over. The game plays just like the original - but it looks way more beautiful.
