  1. Shawn Layden has confirmed that PSX will not be held this year in the PlayStation Blogcast. So, it sounds like the focus on PS4 game development is slowing down, seeing as they don’t have enough to bring to PSX to warrant staging it, which would be smart, considering the reaction to last year’s event: the PlayStation WeSitDown&YouWatchUsTalk Experience. PS5 inbound?
  2. Better than what they’ve previously put out, that’s for sure. Also, ILMxLAB has revealed Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR Series, releasing next year in Oculus Quest.
  3. I think he needs a lengthy break from the the game - there aren’t many managers today that have been managing since 2000 with only a season and a half or so without work (nearly a full season when he left Chelsea the first time, and six months when he left us the second time?), let alone having been at the top level in a managerial capacity in Europe for nearly 15 years now. Managers are only becoming younger and younger, of course, but I think that he should borrow a pages out of Pep’s book from when he chose to take a sabbatical. It just looks like he’s running around in circles at this point, chasing his former glories like a dog chasing its tail, and he hasn’t managed in a Champions League final for nearly a decade, and though the same can be said about Pep too, it’s clear that one is enjoying managing much more and having much more success than the other. Speaking of Mourinho...
  4. Gameplay from EGX:
  5. Copied from Reddit regarding legacy systems being found in the eShop’s code:
  6. Having a tough time against two of his former players in consecutive matches will probably grind Mourinho’s gears, and I couldn’t be more happy for Lamps and Derby with this result, because it was deserved. I don’t know where Mourinho goes from here, because if it’s not mistakes we’re seeing out on the pitch, it’s mistakes behind-the-scenes at this point. I don’t have much hope for him being at United come Christmas.
  7. Nintendo has clarified their policy regarding cloud saves granted by an Online subscription to IGN, revealing that: Good news, but why they didn’t just come out and say this to begin with...
  8. Yeah, I spoke about this in the Let’s Go thread too, it was such a smart move, and I agree that it seems like it was done purposefully. This is the kind of brand synergy that I love to see, and having speculation be about this new Pokémon being found in GO is a very smart yet simple way to add some speculation to conversations pertaining to Let’s Go, which there isn’t much to speculate about in all honesty. I think that it was great to see the community in GO be even more involved with the larger Pokémon community than they typically are, and given that Pokémon has been relatively quiet lately, I’m just glad that there was something to talk about. I’d love for them to continue with similar marketing for next year’s games. Maybe don’t have them necessarily be found in GO, but perhaps have a “Who’s that Pokémon?”-esque silhouette be found on the official website and the GO loading screens, so that the communities (which of course do already have some overlap) continue to interact, and everyone continues to be on the same page regarding such news.
  9. Just a follow-up to the Pokémon let loose on GO the other day, it’s now official: meet Meltan. I’m a big fan of the way that Meltan was revealed; considering that there’s not too much to speculate about regarding Let’s Go, it seems a smart move to have the speculation instead be about a previously unseen Pokémon left nameless for a few days.
  10. It’s official!
  11. If I recall correctly, I read that Sugiyama owns the rights to the Dragon Quest soundtrack (to some degree — I’m not sure whether that’s the entire soundtrack or something specific, like orchestral compositions) and it was his choice to not have the orchestral soundtrack included in the game. Apparently this is because he was worried that releasing the game with the orchestral soundtrack would negatively effect commercial sales (concerts, CDs, et al) of the soundtrack, which is why it is found in its physical form of the Collector’s Edition. If that’s true, then I wouldn’t hold your breath in anticipation for it. Even if that’s not necessarily the case, it seems like an odd piece of content to withhold from the initial release, only to have t included down the line, because the orchestral soundtrack has already been recorded. If the orchestral soundtrack is included in the Switch version of the game, then I think that it would only make sense to release an optional patch for the [Western?] PS4 version of the game allowing players to experience the orchestral soundtrack in the same way, much like a patch was put out in the West including the Japanese voice-acting for Persona 5 last year.
  12. We have some new footage courtesy of a trailer from Tokyo Game Show, featuring a first look at Troy Baker’s character: They also presented a plethora of (concept?) art by Yojo Shinkawa for the characters that we’ve seen in the game’s trailers up to this point. They also revealed Tommie Earl Jenkins’ character (it was previously rumoured that Idris Elba would be in the game, and it is currently speculated that Jenkins will be filling what might have been Elba’s role), a character that we have yet to see in a trailer. Finally, Kojima-san had a little to say about the game’s release date: If you’ll recall, Kojima Productions has previously mentioned that the game is intended to be released prior to the events of Akira (which takes place in 2019) and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Coupled with the fact that Sony/PlayStation executives have mentioned that this is the fastest turnaround that they’ve seen for a AAA game, and how Kojima-san now says that the prospective release date for the game hasn’t changed to this point, it seems like the game has been sailing along without any real hiccups on the development front. A 2019/early 2020 release certainly seems to be on the cards for now.
  13. Awesome. I’ve been thinking about upgrading my Phase One and Two DVDs to blu-rays for some time now, but I might just buy them individually, in the hopes of a 4K UHD Collection coming out down the line...but then again, this seems a good alternative for now, now that they’re (finally!) re-releasing the Phase One and Two boxsets on blu-ray.
  14. Oh, sure, there are probably plenty of jobs in the industry should a place close down, so that’s good to hear. It was more the fact that Ubisoft were inviting them along specifically, and especially to talk about job opportunities over provided food and drinks, which I thought was great.
  15. The Pokémon that leaked yesterday, which was talked about over in the Let’s Go thread, is now appearing in GO after the Chikorita event, and in increasing numbers.
  16. The Pokémon is now appearing in Pokémon GO after the Chikorita event, and in increasing numbers. Huh.
  17. This is pretty awesome.
  18. Coming to Switch, PS4, XBO, and PC in early 2019.
