3DS Christmas & January Sales Buyer Guide
welsh_gamer replied to welsh_gamer's topic in Nintendo Gaming
First post updated with some pretty good reductions at GAME and Gamestation, including OoT and Starfox Ordered James Noir's Hollywood Crimes for myself, and tempted with that Super Pokemon Rumble price. -
Major price drop at ShopTo :- £15.85 Ordered a copy for myself. Really enjoyed all the racing games I've played on 3DS so far, so let's see if the streak will continue.

3DS Christmas & January Sales Buyer Guide
welsh_gamer replied to welsh_gamer's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I plan on getting it when it's around the £15-£20 mark. I noticed someone on my friend roster playing the game, so someone on here must have purchased it. It's recived quite a few reviews in the 60 - 70% range. I've enjoyed four games which were published by Ubisoft on my 3DS so far :- Rayman 3D - a nice port which played better than expected. Ghost Recon Shadow Wars - highgly enjoyable strategy game, packed full of content and accessible to all. Driver Renegade - a fun but slighltly repetitive handheld racer. TinTin - extremely linear but fun to play. Hopefully Hollywood Crimes will follow suit and not stink like Rabbids 3D and Cubic Ninja. -
With the so called 'January' sales arriving earlier each December and some great pre-Christmas discounts I thought I'd create this thread here to keep track on some of those great offers, as a guide for gamers who'll be getting their hands on a 3DS console for the first time over the festive period and for those of us looking to expand our collection. Please feel free to post any good discount you've seen that I've failed to post and to recommended any underrated or overlooked games you've played. It's great. Along with Pullblox it's one of the best things you can currently download from the e-shop. For £4.50 you get 4 great looking and playable tables, and the game offers online leaderboards, so you can compare high scores with others and with those from your friend roster. Took a while for me to get used to the tables and the physics (I'm used to playing Pokemon Pinball, Sonic Pinball, Mario Ball etc not 'realistic' Pinball) but now I'm addicted and find it hard to put my 3DS down whenever I'm playing it.

Go to options in the Mii Plaza, select Invites and set it to Off, and it'll stop Mii's you meet online from joining your Plalza. I was very annoyed to find my Plaza filled with 200 hundred foreign strangers the other day....

It's out here now. Showing as instock at ShopTo.Net :- Link

It was great. The 2 hour session (or was it 3 ) I had online with the game last night flew by! Will be hoping for more of the same tonight.
-
100% complete, with 20 hours 38 minutes on the clock. A truly great game, and that secret level was just incredible. Anyone recived any Streetpass data for the game yet? If so, can you compare your times for each level with strangers or do you just get more of those cubes with the 10 second challenges in them?

Same here. I'll give them till around Wednesday and then cancel the order if they haven't dispatched it then, and get the game in the sales. I like TheHut. There's always a 10% discount code about to get £££ off your order ,and I can use my PayPal funds to pay, but they rarely delivery on launch, so it's not a site I use to pre-order games I want on Day 1. That's honour goes to ShopTo.net.
-
The game is back instock at ShopTo.net. My copy from TheHut was dispatched today. Keeping it aside until early 2012. Looking forward to playing it as I haven't played a Tales game before.

I've seen them at ASDA (in the games section) and Co-Op (in the gift card section), but not the limited edition ones. It's crazy how GAME or Gamestation still don't stock these cards, and it's been 6 months since the e-shop launched on 3DS!

IGN are right in saying that the game could use a bit more light. I'm almost done with the single player campaign, and there are quite a few moments where it's impossible to see where the enemy is firing from, and what obstacles are in from of you due to the darkness. I've played one mission where you had the option to use Nightvision goggles, which was great, but it's a shame the option wasn't there throughout the game like in Modern Warfare Reflex. Campaign has been fun, with some impressive set-pieces, but as the ONM review says, it does feel like an on-rails shooter in disguise. Online, I've adapted to the lag shooting quite well, but still get a fair amount of dodgy deaths and kills. I belive the game probably deserves a score of 5 or 6 at the moment, which may rise depending on how the upcoming patch(es) improves things. Goldeneye 007 remains the superior single player FPS on Wii for me, while Black Ops is still the online king.

I went with Play.com too, as I had some Playfunds I wanted to use, but I'm keeping my copy aside for Christmas Day. Recived the dispatch e-mail late last night, so I'm not expecting for it to arrive until Saturday morning, as there was no tracking number given, suggesting it hasn't been sent with a courier.

Just finished World 6. Yes, the levels are short but they are all a joy to play, and I'm looking forward to replaying them over again, along with seeing what the game has to offer me when I finish the last stage. My only complaint is that the platforming in the Doomship levels are over a bit too soon.

Same here! It's a Mario time!
-
I was in Argos today and checked the system to see if they had any Wii stock. They did not, but it did say it was 'Instock' for Home Delivery. However, the game has mysteriously disappeard from their website.
-
I really want this game - even more so after that review - but I'll have too much to enjoy during the period it's released, so will either get it for Christmas or in the new year. Also, from an ONM interview :- Link I've a feeling the 3DS version won't be released until February or March, which is when the Vita version will probably be released too. Btw, here's the cheapest place to pre-order the Wii version - £24.85 at SimplyGames
-
TheHut have a Sonic Generations with Super Monkey Ball 3D bundle on their website for £34.95. If you've been e-mailed a 10% discount voucher it'll only cost you £31.46, so basically you're getting a free game which you can keep or sell on. *Places pre-order despite having too many games pre-ordered for November*

The Wii is Dead... what are you playing on it?
welsh_gamer replied to darksnowman's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I still play Black Ops online, 2 - 3 times a week with others from the N-E clan, so my Wii is pretty active, but the last time I used it to play an offline game was probably when I replayed Donkey kong Country Returns and Super Mario Galaxy 2 earlier in the year. Modern Warfare 3 and Skyword Sword will be my next purchases, and I'll be getting Rayman Origins and Kirby when they drop in price. -
I'm very much looking forward to this, more so than I was for Galaxy 1 and 2!

I was just browsing Play.com and came across this :- Link Intresting.... could voice chat be on the way?
