Ok, so I went for an Interview today and got the job woohoo! And I start on Monday. The only problem is I need my own equipment. The role is Graphic Design, and I'm in charge of a bi-monthly magazine. I own a 3 year old iBook which isn't up for running doing the job. So I don't mind buying a Macbook Pro and eventually an external monitor to work from, then I have the option to take my computer home with me. So that is going to cost around £1200, but I don't mind that because I will get my own use from that. Now software is the killer, I will need to have Photoshop, Indesign and Illustrator. I've spotted the Design Premium pack at £1500ish which is a killer, especially seen as I need to buy this myself. So I'm expected to spend around £3000 to start a job!? It's only once I got home after the interview that I realised how expensive this all would cost. He bumped the hourly rate up by an extra pound because of this, but that doesn't cover me seen as I need the software and hardware now. I start on monday, and I'm not sure what to say because I won't have anything ready by then. I may have ordered my new computer but it wont of arrived (refurbished is what im looking at, more bang for buck) I have Photoshop etc installed on my iBook but they are naughty copies. What do I say when I see him on Monday?

All of the CS3 integration works amazingly well. Having worked for Hallmark mainly using Photoshop / Illustrator and Indeisgn there is no better alternative out there. Sure if your sat at home and need to re-size and image im sure gimp will suffice, for anything done of a professional level...I really wouldn't want to use gimp.

Check out Mr Negativity! I'm not usually a fan of Hollywood movies, their all too generic and predicable. But I loved the dark atmosphere surrounding the dark knight. The Joker was FAAAAR from cack, brillantly acted and scripted to near perfection. Yes the film was serious but it helped create a more realistic, tense film. I beleive your expections were more along the lines of this...... OH DEAR!

I got the keys for my new flat today and I moved a load of stuff over. I got the TV and surround system set up, which is an essential! Well excited, I should be fully moved in by the weekend! So overall today was amazing!

Having Anti-Virus and Spyware checker built into the OS which worked away in the background would be nice, but im sure microsoft would get into trouble for unfair competition. And i'll check Noscript out on my brothers PC.

I hope microsoft build Windows 7 more secure so theirs less Spyware, Adware and viruses. Running windows is a massive chore!

I've seen kits in Morrisons and little independent shops, but I wouldn't have the slightest clue in how to brew it, I guess you just have to follow the instructions you get. Or check youtube out, someone will surely be on there to show the world how its done!

MAJOR FRUSTRATION I NEED A JOB

I get the keys for my flat on Tuesday, so I've ordered a bed and 2 sofas. There both only cheap, but money is tight atm! The Bed The Sofas Woohoo I'm well excited, its like starting Uni all over again! I need a job ASAP, I've been applying all over and not heard anything.

My degree is from Lincoln (media) and when I went to look round if certainly was impressive. The Uni is expanding at such a fast pace its quite cool too see all the changes happening. But it is still a relatively young uni. You'll find its not the degree that counts its experience that will get you the job.
