  1. I just sent out a message to a few people on it, pretty funny watching my Mii talk. Oh- and apologies in advance for my incredibly nasal voice, hearing the message back made me have one of those "I don't sound like that in real life, do I?!" moments.
  2. Sure thing, will PM you when I find out my code. : peace:
  3. My copy arrived today from good old GAME. Played it for a couple of hours so far. Yes it's all very familiar, (having played the first 2 extensively) but the magic is still there. Don't know what it is, but it's just so easy for me to fall in love with Animal Crossing. By the way, US Wild World is not compatible with PAL Let's go to the City. Tried to move my character over earlier on but it wouldn't work. Not sure if that was common knowledge already, but figured I'd mention it just in case anyone was unsure. For the best probably as now I have no choice but to start from scratch.
  4. No idea, but those messages always say that they're from the channel. Anyway, the past/upcoming competitions can be seen on this site: http://www.nintendo.co.jp/wii/rmcj/tournament/index.html : peace:
  5. You lot seen this? 5 Ways To Improve Wii Music Some good points there, especially the DLC and overdub ones. Another thing I’d change would be the way it searches for shared videos, it’s pretty annoying when you exit to the Wii Menu after playing the game only to find a message saying you have received a new vid. It should really search/alert you somehow while you are still in the game, at least on the main menu/music video sections. Your classical version was seriously good, especially the intro part with the harpsichord. Mike, you should get on the old Mii Contest Channel. I started going on it quite a bit since getting Wii Music, spent over an hour on there one night looking for funny Miis. I'll send you Falcon anyway. Cheers. I lost it a bit in the middle of the song and some of the taiko drumming at the end, but I liked other parts so decided to leave it. Mario Bros. theme is a great one to do in different styles though because it is such a recognizable tune. Think I will eventually try all of the various styles on it.
  6. Nice F-Zero vid Hellfire, Balance Board drumming too! I added a couple of extra Captain Falcons and myself on bass guitar. Funny stuff.
  7. Awesome! But, seeing as the info comes from ONM and Play.com I'm not gonna get too excited just yet. Let's hope NoE confirm this soon.
  8. Anyone try the new competition? It's pretty good. The Wiggler is bloody annoying though, I especially hate the way he waits if you get knocked off the track, talk about cheeky! It's really satisfying getting the invincibility star on this comp and dishing out some payback! :awesome:
  9. *Looks at bottom right corner of picture*Good man! Mr.T is proud of you.
  10. Yeah I've still got a lot of tracks with "NEW!" on them too. I will play them all though eventually, but I'm still having a good time re-playing the ones that I do know/like at the moment. So on one hand I see where you're coming from, but on the other you could say that it's good to have some unknown songs because you can learn them via the game. And the ones you don't particularly like could become a nice challenge to try and create a version of them that you do, by messing with the tempo/style etc... But I agree, DLC would have been the icing on the cake for Wii Music. I was thinking about it the other day though and wondering if it could still be a possibility for the future. The reason being that if you look at the box, the WFC logo is on it. But obviously the game uses Connect24 for sharing vids, so compare it to other titles that use the same system, Metroid 3, Brain Academy, Eledees, Dewy's Adventure, Boom Blox, none of those have the WFC logo on the cover. Hmm... Could just be that Nintendo is going to start using the WFC logo for C24 games and Wii Music is the first to do so I guess.
  11. : peace: I thought the "Hovis song" one you did was great, really good timing. Balance Board drumming is kind of sensitive yeah, I sometimes wish it would just be a fixed volume for the beats (regardless of how much pressure you're applying to the board) to avoid those occasional muted beats. Having said that, it is nice to be able to control how loud you play too. Not to mention more realistic. :awesome:
  12. Ace huh? I love that “hmm, hmm†noise he makes. Ahh… the initial Wii Music performance of Twinkle, *reminiscences* yep, everyone’s first time is bad. But once you get the controls down the game comes alive, alive I tell you! You will mate, don’t worry. And I’ll have quite a collection by Christmas time, so prepare yourself!
  13. Next Comp: Racing against a Wiggler on Wario's Gold Mine?! Should be a good laugh. :awesome:
  14. Hehehe! Sorry for the barrage of vids. Cool, I'm trying to do some more chilled out / classical stuff at the moment. Not easy for me though, as you probably gathered from my Frère Jacques video. I started out well but soon went back to my upbeat ways. Thought it turned out quite nice in the end though, with the first half of the song being purely classical and then bringing in the beat/rapping toward the end.
  15. I went a bit crazy with custom jams yesterday after I found out about the alternative costumes. You have to hold down a specific button/s on the Wii Remote while clicking on Start just before a jam. The different outfits (and codes to activate them) are:
  16. Good stuff. The more people that actually experience the game for themselves the better. I sent out my first video with advanced (Balance Board) drumming yesterday, a version of the Super Mario theme. Hope you lot on my friend roster enjoyed it. It's nice to be able to mix it up a bit more with the BB drum mode, although it can get a bit tricky at times. I did quite a lot of sessions on the Mario theme and I'm still not 100% happy with it, will keep working on it though.
  17. Thanks man. I liked your take on La Bamba, the cover art you did for it was really cool too.
  18. Cool idea. I call drums! The limit is reset each time you start up the game, so it's actually unlimited. :awesome: Anyway, I thought the version of September I did (and sent out to everyone on my list) was good, but I've just been on the Nintendo Channel and seen their video of it, whoa... my jaw literally hit the floor at the Electro version (second performance on the vid). That has to be the pinnacle of Wii Music improvisation right there. I must have then watched it 4 or 5 times in a row. Will be going back to the drawing board on that one now for sure. It's so amazing what can be done in this game with the right amount of imagination and enough practice. *EDIT* Just found the full version of that video online. Click on Previous to get to September, then click on the Electric Funk arrangement: http://us.wii.com/player_wiimusic2.jsp Awesome.
  19. Yaaay! Another N-E musician to join our ever expanding Wii Music band. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with. Will send you some of my creations tonight. : peace: Got my family playing this the other day, was absolutely awesome! Seeing their faces while playing and how much they were enjoying it was just brilliant. Really made me appreciate the game even more, that it can produce that kind of emotion and bring everyone together to have such a great time, almost instantaneously. And you also realise just how genius the track selection is when you get a group of people with massively varying ages, yet everyone knows 99% of the songs. :awesome:
  20. Yeah it's great, definitely the most complex instrument in Wii Music. Will take a lot of practice to master I think. Nice that it can be used in Custom Jams too, although I'm sticking to the Nunchuck/Remote set-up at the moment until I get totally comfortable with the Balance Board way. Hehehe! Yeah I made the banner so I couldn't resist doing a little Mii cameo. Make sure you click on the N-E logo for a nice surprise too. Brilliant. When you getting this tapedeck? I'd love for you to add some of your expert musical ability to my vids. You mean £35, or £30 even. I'm surprised that some people were expecting Wii Music to be a budget title, completely nuts when you consider just how much content is in it. Seriously if the game hooks you then it's basically got infinite playability, it's absolutely packed. There are just so many different combinations to try out, so much hidden depth.
  21. Well, I'm loving it as much as I thought I would, did have a slight worry in the beginning though when the game makes you record your first performance (twinkle little star) and it turned out a bit iffy. But once I started going through the other songs, doing my own thing and most importantly, getting used to the controls, that quickly faded away. And what I was left with was pure Nintendo euphoria. This is as I expected a game that you really have to give time, lots and lots of time, if you just go in and play the first song / initial lessons and leave it at that, chances are you're gonna be left with a really bad impression of Wii Music. And that's exactly what I think has happened with the reviews for this game, I reckon the majority of reviewers just didn't have the patience to see it through and really get in to the heart and soul of the game. Also the impression they give to those that haven't experienced it is that it's simple, easy, or even plays itself! The fact is, this is actually a pretty difficult game in the sense that if you want to make good sounding songs you really have to work at it. Sure anyone can just grab the controllers and go totally mental with the dog suit or whatever and make a complete mess, but all they're doing is proving that they don't have the ability to play properly and have completely misunderstood the concept in the first place. Even so, this obviously isn't going to be for everyone. "Hardcore gamers" are bound to dislike it, as it lacks traditional video game goals / isn't really a game. But if you're open minded / patient / have friends and family to play with / and (even slightly) creative, then you should definitely give it a try. It will bring a smile to your face. It really does depend on the individual. Personally I give it a 9 or even 10. For people that don't fit any of the criteria I posted above though, then it's probably a 0. The only thing I would've liked to have seen would be more Nintendo songs. But at the same time I understand the immense amount of work it has taken the developers to even get 50 songs in the game that are all completely customisable and work with loads of different instruments, just read this interview and that becomes clear. At the end of the day they had to make sure it covered a broad range of styles. And I'm happy with the Nintendo songs, the classical stuff, La Bamba and September. Anyway, this post has gone on for way too long already! If anyone wants to share vids, PM me with your Wii console code and I'll chuck you mine. : peace:
  22. I finished it last night, my final stats were: Time - 11:17:54 Battle Time - (A) 0:55:46 Enemy Kill Ratio - (A) 96.2% Shooting Accuracy - © 73.6% Battle Points - (B) 220712 Clever Shots - 11 Head Shots - 408 Max Combo - 114 Damage Received - © 7091 Near Death Experiences - (A) 12 Unrescued Casualties - (S) 0 Overall Rating - (A) Great! Can’t wait to go through it all again to improve those stats and find the rest of the hidden goodies, will be good replay value with this one for sure. Plus the Advanced shooting range will also keep me playing this for a while yet, so funny!
  23. Yeah DPL/DPLII has to be encoded in to the stereo signal, you'll still get audio out of all of your speakers from a standard stereo source (like Disaster, NMH, etc..) but it'll just be duplicates of the left and right channels and not true 5.1 surround sound. You're right though, good game regardless.
  24. Nah, the main reason I want one of these is for the DSi Shop, which is going to be region locked (as well as DSi games by the looks of things) so it's not worth it. Plus it's not exactly going to be much of a wait for the Euro release anyway. What about you, importing?
  25. Even more DSi camera fun: The one where you can change the colour of clothes by tapping on them is particularly impressive I think, just seems so slick. I also like the way it can track the position of a face and move the decorations accordingly, very cool despite the slight delay. :awesome:
