Then why even bother with legendaries? Still, fair enough, but some people might care. I'm also not gonna sit back and have you suggest Kyogre is better than Groudon, because it isn't.
-
I think so, but I'm not entirely sure on how they go about it. So it's time to call the only person you should when something is beyond my scope. OI! @Serebii! GET IN HERE! Do you have an idea on how Game Freak check for modded Pokémon? They have been clamping down on it quite a bit over the past year.
-
It's because of competitive Pokemon Battling. Currently, under usual Pokemon rules, it's completely illegal to use Pokemon that aren't part of the Alola Pokedex. If it wasn't caught in S/M, it's not allowed to be used. Making every Legendary available in Gen 7 allows them to be used and allows more open choices. Even if everyone does end up having a Landorus on their team... It's a really irritating rule. Because if I want to use my hilarious Groudon in an online tournament, I have to catch a new one. I can't just use my one from Omega Ruby.

Yo, as someone who has actually trained all of these Pokemon and used them in Battle Tree/Online Battles. Let me drop some actual knowledge on you. Groudon has Kyogre trumped on so many aspects! Coolness, battle prowess, ability to walk. Thunder Punch catches every Kyogre off guard, works every time. You're also conveniently glossing over the fact that Sun has Heatran, one hell of a pseudo Legendary, meanwhile Moon has Regigigas, by far the most useless one. It's total dead weight. Raikou is more useful than Entei (Entei only just got a Physical Fire move in Gen 6) and Palkia is better than Dialga (Water/Dragon is a great type combination) Xerneas beats Yveltal (Fairy Legendaries are hard to counter, Geomancy is also hella broken. I do prefer Yveltal though) The Latis depend on whether you want offense or defense. They're both great. Zekrom and Reshiram are pretty balanced as well. (Zekrom is cooler but White Kyurem is ridiculously powerful) The only pluses Moon has is Lugia (Although it needs it's Hidden ability, which is currently available from G/S VC. Ho-Oh has the same issue) Thundurus is better than Tornadus. If you want useful legendaries, Sun's the way to go. (Of course, I don't care, I already got them all, EV trained and ready to go)

BTW, don't try and be clever and pick Gold Mario. Keep it Standard Monopoly, thank you.

Can't say I agree. Black 2/White 2 did this with the PWT. Which had all the Gym Leaders and Champions available to battle. Eh? They reused pretty much all of the tracks though? The only one that got remixed was Red's Theme from G/S. All that said, we've got another Battle facility! It's about damn time. Battle Factory makes a wonderful comeback and I could not be happier. Now if Team Rainbow Rocket is another one, (Hard to tell at this point) then we've got half an actual Battle Frontier! It's progress. And kudos for Game Freak realising, "Hey, we've had quite a handful of villains throughout all the games,, we should capitalise on that"

Next League Night: Tonight 8pm Room 1: @BowserBasher is host @Glen-i @BowserBasher @martinist @punio75 @viceview51 @S.C.G @DazzeL (Maybe) Still to declare @RedShell @nekunando @Vileplume2000 @Nicktendo @Sméagol

He should be, it could have been so easy to exploit microtransactions. Even if I don't care for the game, Mario Run gets more respect from me than Fire Emblem or Animal Crossing.
-
Ah, Nicalis certainly know how to hike up a price to extraordinary extremes. The truly sad part is if the box art is good, I might be tempted. And considering how gorgeous the game looks...
-
But they're already slapping us with a online charge...

Well then, your opinion stands for absolute squat! Quick cheeky update before I disappear until Thursday. And to have it at the top of the new page. N-Europe Splatfest! Breakfast Brawl So then, the next Splatfest theme is up and I'm getting this post done nice and early so you lot have more time to react and get your affairs in order for the next incredibly important debate. Should Breakfast be Warm or Cold? You can boot up Splatoon 2 and choose a side now, get your shirt and maybe fill it up with skills, etc. But let's face it, Splatfest is better when N-Europe peeps work together, so let's organise that now. Splatfest begins this Saturday at 3pm and continues until Sunday at 3pm. First of all, declare what side you're on, as well as what time you think you'll be available to play at. If we can get 4 people on the same side at around the same time window, you're golden, if not... Well, maybe next time... Why the hell did I bother numbering this list? So without further ado... Team Microwaved Crumpet @RedShell @Nicktendo Saturday Evening & All Sunday Team Cold Leftover Pizza @Glen-i - All Saturday @Sméagol Saturday Night (Maybe evening) Team This is stupid, I just want to play with N-E peeps, with maybe a Croissant. @Vileplume2000 I'll update this post sometime Thursday. So talk it out amongst yourselves. Go on, make yourself useful!

Gee whiz, thanks for clearing that up, Totally Wonderful Advisory TwinS! Bacon is yucky. Anyway, here comes some scheduling postage. N-Europe Splatfest! Yeah, but it's warm. Ewwww! Also, I hate Bacon. After I come back from Smash Shenanigans this afternoon, I'll start on the scheduling post for possible group games.

Righto! Here's the League table! Everyone give a big welcome to @Blade, @Sméagol and @Vileplume2000 can fake a happy welcome if they want, no-one will think less of you. I know @Nicktendo has been absent 3 weeks on the trot, (I think he was graffiti tagging Canada or something) but he said he'd be in this week, so I won't bother taking him off the table for now. @RedShell barely maintains his lead, but lost his 4 week Top 3 streak. A whole month is certainly nothing to sneeze at. Just try not to punch any babies in the face. My lead over the rest of the league also shortened. @punio75 and @martinist swap places again, make up your mind already! Here's a useless tidbit, @BowserBasher, despite taking part this week, had no change to his average score what-so-ever. Anyway, here's the next theme. Let's face it, this week, there's only one Switch game people are talking about and I'd be mental to not base this week's theme on it. Next League Night: 2nd November 8pm Room 1: @BowserBasher is host @Glen-i @BowserBasher @martinist @punio75 @viceview51 That's right, it's... This week's theme reflects the hectic gameplay of the classic board game that no-one ever wants to play. Well, hopefully, this night won't take 5 hours to finish. Each GP represents different stages of the game, building up money, going around properties, buying them at a high speed and then that inevitable moment when some jerk puts hotels on Mayfair and it all devolves into a fight to survive. Just don't be an idiot and buy the railways. If I have to explain the vehicle and character choice, then you're not paying attention. Sign up now!

Hello, this month I'd like to have the vaguest choice in Splatfest ever! Also, fuck you if you like your Breakfast hot. You weirdo! And what if I don't eat Breakfast? I'm fashionable and have a busy schedule! Brunch is more my thing.

I'm probably not understanding something about this race, but why not just roll? Way quicker and easier to pull off.

@Dog-amoto, here's an example provided by yours truly. Start with any jump (I use Triple Jump here) Throw Cappy with Y Perform a Ground Pound straight away. Immediately press and hold Y to perform a Dive Jump Do this right and you'll land on Cappy, catapulting you forward. This completely batters the Long Jump in sheer distance, thanks to the momentum from the dive jump. You can even do the dive jump again to get a bit more height, but you can't bounce off Cappy a second time. You would not believe the sheer amount of mental stuff you can do with this. There's also lot's of other nuances to the mechanics, such as pressing Y in between wall jumps to get a bit more height from every jump, getting on top of a wall by wall jumping off it and dive jumping backwards to land on top of it, I've even used Cappy Jump Dives to sail over a certain boss' attacks. I might make a few more videos showing just some of the stuff I've discovered with this. BTW, that maneuver in the video works with every jump, even wall kicks and long jumps. I've got an example, but the videos are from the last world, so I'll put it in a spoiler tag. I've also been meaning to ask this since I saw the credits...

The 100 Hardest Video-Game Bosses, Ranked
Glen-i replied to Happenstance's topic in General Gaming Discussion
It's insanely difficult if you go for a sword fight like you do every other encounter in the game. Once you figure out you're not supposed to Z-Target him, you've pretty much beaten him. Or you know... Totally cheese it with the Megaton Hammer or Din's Fire. -
Credits rolled. Pretty spectacular end boss sequence (To be fair, the past three games have had spectacular end boss sequences) even if I called every single thing that happened. I even guessed at what happened after the credits. The map gave it away for me. All in all, it's solid. I still maintain that a handful of worlds are too big for their own good, but the later ones felt more like the Galaxy style of levels I prefer. I'll probably tackle the post-game once the Switch recharges.

That reminds me of when everyone was playing Pokémon R/B/Y and mentioned here that I was the only one on their friend list not playing it. I was playing Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon. So I did have superior taste. A little part of me kinda wants to be that guy. I want to try FE Warriors. I find it gives a diminishing feeling when I just stumble upon a Moon that required very little effort on my part. There was one pretty ridiculous example about halfway through the game. There was a Moon in a block that I had to manipulate an enemy into destroying and that was all well and good, but after I got it, I turned the camera a little, and lo and behold, another moon on a ledge that only required me to drop down about a foot to get. That second moon added absolutely nothing. It was just there for the sake of being there. EDIT: This is what I mean.

I want to respond to that first paragraph. In particular, the "minimum requirement" Just to remind people that I blitzed through Mario 64 quite recently. And I would specifically like to ask @Hero-of-Time the following question, seeing as he played through a lot of Mario Games in build up to Odyssey. Do you think the minimum requirement is much more achievable in Odyssey than any other Mario game? Because I believe so. I naturally haven't done this. But I believe going for the bare minimum has never been easier, despite it needing the most amount of trinkets. As for the boring worlds, in particular, I'm referring to the Sand Kingdom (Far too big and empty) and Seaside Kingdom (Water Level that's also quite big) While not awful, I did find myself quickly wanting to move on. Just personal experience there.
-
So I think I'm two worlds away from the pre-credits final battle. Around 130 stars, shines, moons. And I've got a few things to say. Firstly... Y'all suck at skipping Secondly, this has to be the most conflicting Mario game I've played. Am I missing something? This doesn't seem any more special than 64 or Sunshine. Which is great, don't get me wrong. Like BOTW, this is a little bit overhyped so far. Unlike BOTW, I am enjoying it. New Donk City has been the highlight so far. Everything about the set pieces was astounding. The rest of the worlds feel pretty run of the mill, some good, some boring. Mario is a joy to control, but then, when isn't he? This Mario is great though, so much momentum and the extra joy con tricks feel great. I've already mastered the double jump-hat flick-ground pound-dive manuever and it allows for all sorts of skips. But am I the only one who feels like about half of the moons don't need to be there? They're just everywhere. And half of them aren't very satisfying to find. It's Korok Seeds all over again. It also reinforces to me that I prefer Galaxy and 3D Worlds more focused platforming. But yeah, it's fun. Not amazing, but fun. Also Hammer Bros have hair and it still weirds me out.
-
For Nintendo, maybe. For me? Nah, not even close. No Ninty game I've played has really stood out for me. Haven't played Odyssey yet, but it doesn't give me the feeling that it's way better than any other 3D Mario. Which is certainly no bad thing. Zelda bored me for the first time ever in the series. So a massive low point there. So far, my game of the year is a contest between Wonder Boy and Monster Hunter Stories, neither of which are Ninty games. Mainline Pokemon is still pretending Gens 2-5 don't exist 4 games on the bloody trot, and won't even throw me a Battle Frontier so I can look past it. And don't even get me started on the mobile shenanigans! 2017 has been a pretty lame Ninty year for me. I'm hoping Fire Emblem Warriors can salvage it a little, even if the character movesets are nowhere near inspired as Hyrule. If 2018 drops a Smash 4 port with a few extra features, then it's about 75% on it's way to beating 2017. EDIT: Every year Dcubed mentioned has been better for me. But holy crap, 2014 totally blew me away. Smash? Bayo? MK!?

Right, here are the results. GP1 GP2 GP3 This week's stars of my hijinks include @RedShell, @martinist, @Blade, @punio75, @S.C.G and a few Rosalinas who I wasn't sure who it was.

DAMNIT @RedShell! Once a week, I always fall for your end of race shenanigans!
