I'll be sure to look down on your peasanty ways. -
Once again, I blame Sun/Moon. That game just would not shut up about it. "Oh hey, you moved here from Kanto!" "Wow, your Meowth is so God damn interesting" "I'm Lillie and the plot dictates that I must go to Kanto to heal my deranged mother. Why? Because Kanto hasn't been mentioned enough, of course" (Hilariously retconned in Ultra Sun/Moon so that Gladion goes there instead and then comes back 3 Elite Four runs later, must have realised how boring it is.) It got the idea that a return to Kanto must be happening soon in people's heads, why else would Game Freak reference it so much? Stuff like that.

Next Classic Mini - Hopes, rumours, expectations & speculation
Glen-i replied to markderoos's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Plot twist! Can't honestly say I expected that. Dragon Quest means it's never coming out over here. -
I know you didn't actually say that quote, but when has a new entry of Pokémon not been the most complex? That gives the impression that that person doesn't pay attention to think that's a groundbreaking revelation. In other words, duuuuuhhhhh! As for the whole "is it Gen 8" debate, I don't think it's determined by 1 single aspect. It's a combination of new region, new Pokémon and new mechanics. If a game is missing one of these things, I'd be hesitant to declare it a new generation. Were you thinking of me when you said it might ruffle some feathers, because you're damn right. Nothing says "I don't understand why Pokémon sells" better than saying "I wanna go back to Kanto/They should only have the first 151 Pokémon" It's stupid and unimaginative. Pokémon has had far more interesting locales and far more interesting Pokémon since the first games. But it always circles back to wanting everything to be Gen 1. Because that's the only one these selfish jerks have actually played. I personally hope they take a leaf out of Gen 5. Nothing but new Pokémon until you finish the game. That's the only entry I think made the best attempt to recapture that initial first game feel. Everything was new, everything was exciting, everything felt fresh. In comparison, Sun/Moon's Pokédex consisted of more than 40% Gen 1 Pokémon and that's embarrassing. So no to Kanto and no to it's prominence throughout the last two Gens.

Isn't that the entire unique selling point? I don't think it's possible to have too much fanservice in Smash.
-
There are so many hoops to jump through with a Microsoft character though. Would it be worth the hassle? It's a whole different ball park to the other 3rd Party characters. That's not even getting to the likely outcome that older Ninty fans would much rather have Banjo, due to the deeper ties to Nintendo. Steve would appeal more to the younger demographic while Banjo would appease the long time fans. It would be a surprisingly tough decision from a business perspective.
-
@Dcubed we predicted Quote in the wrong bloody game! Seeing him punch and kick just feels so wrong though. I guess I was thinking more like Mega Man in Smash.
-
Yes, that's correct. But no, it's not enough. And for one massive reason. Cost. I get very little disposable income. I start subscribing to this and I pretty much can't buy games anymore. It's the reason I don't have internet access at my house. For the more Party focused multiplayer games like Mario Kart, Smash, Rocket League, it's no big deal. Chances are high that @Dcubed will jump in for the cloud saves, so I could just use his account. Unfortunately, games like Monster Hunter and Pokémon, where progress is a big part of the Multiplayer side, become unfeasible. Pokémon Switch is quite likely to force me to retire from online Pokémon Battling, and that really bums me out. The competitive scene is the saving grace of the admittedly average 3DS entries for me.
-
Honestly, I can't even hazard a guess. This is a complete unknown when it comes to Pokémon. Say the Switch games support cloud saves. What's to stop me from backing up my save, trading someone all of my shiny Pokémon, then using my backed up data to immediately get those Pokémon back with no downsides for the person I just traded with? And that's before we get to the ethics of those poor people who want to catch 'em all having to pay up for a subscription if they have no friends. On the other hand, if they get exempt from the subscription, no doubt people will be crying "Why does Pokémon get special treatment!?" Exclude Cloud Saves and you get subscribers complaining that they're not getting what they paid for. Game Freak have been thrown in between a rock and a hard place. I can't see anyway of them coming out of this looking good.
-
That's precisely why you can't back up the save data on any of the 3DS Pokémon games. It's also why there's no restore points on the virtual console Game Boy games. Game Freak are very strict when it comes to stuff like that. I don't think they're going to be thrilled about the online subscription. And that's before we get the overprotective Pokémon Company involved.
-
Cloud storage for the actual Pokémon themselves. Let's you store thousands of Pokémon and quickly transfer them between different games. 5 quid a year.
-
The big "if" is what happens with Pokémon Bank going forward. I do hope the Retro games aren't tied to the online service. I just want to buy a game and own it. Is that so bad?
-
Painfully predictable? Someone has clearly already played the Wii U version. Or DK stamped on his dog?

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe League 2018 (Final results now in)
Glen-i replied to Glen-i's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Note: @S.C.G disconnected, so his actual score was 15 (20 after the recalculation), which puts him in 8th place. First of all, welcome to @Nintendo Fan's brother, who I will refer to by his Mii username "FunkOps", who debuts by placing himself right behind his brother. I love great coincidences like that. Naturally, everyone he overtook goes down by 1 place. The only person who actually shifted around the table was @Nintendo Fan. Although he's only 0.1 points behind 9th place. Everyone's averages changed, so no useless awards this week. But I'm not overlooking the joint 2nd place in the 3rd GP between @martinist, @RedShell and @S.C.G. After last week's triple 1st place, I'm starting to think you lot are planning this. I look forward to the triple 3rd place next week. Next League Night: 10th May 8pm Room 1: @BowserBasher is host @Glen-i @BowserBasher @viceview51 Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has been out for more than a year now, so I think it's time to celebrate with... Nothing says "I've played too much Mario Kart" like ugly, tacky gold that no person with actual taste would be seen using. Well, here's your chance to show how much better you are than everyone else. Not through actual racing skill, mind. That don't matter. Style over Substance. Don't worry though, even if you don't have all the gold you'd need to put the entire hip-hop community to shame, you have 2 options to you. Sign up Now! -

And here's a bunch I got. I got @Vileplume2000's twitter handle wrong. Oopsies. Anyway, here's me not letting @viceview51 have one race. Anyway, in the second GP, @S.C.G disconnected. Your score for that was 20, which is lower than your average. You still want me to keep it? -

Totally fine. EDIT: For the new page. -
I dunno, with Ninty releasing Punch-Out Arcade recently, I don't see why they couldn't bring out another to piggyback off of. Also, ARMS has been out for almost a year now, I think the time for being a big deal is done. Nothing short of Smash Bros representation is gonna help it at this point.
-
Have you ever played Punch-Out? That game is nothing like ARMS.

You mean I can finally stop pressing the wrong button every time I go to press X or Y!?
-
Worth noting that there's actually TV advertising for this game over here. Which is infinite more TV advertising than the WiiU version got. I dunno, I think they are trying to hide the WiiU one. Not that it needs it, being on WiiU is already the ultimate camouflage.

Wait, how was that a leak? It was announced at the start of the blooming year.
