  1. We already did that.
  2. 3 dungeons down, 45 heart pieces, 21 masks. I only just found out that you can lean Zora Link's body around while playing the guitar, his facial expression even changes depending on which way you tilt! Neat! Behold my elegant diving skills! That last one happens to me at least once a playthrough. Without fail. I swear it's heat-seeking!
  3. Oh crud! I forgot about Mii Gunner! Mii Gunner is also allowed tonight.
  4. Feeling a lot better now, so it's time for a theme night. The basic concept was suggested by @BowserBasher, and I have named it... Guns! Guns! Guns! After a certain match a couple of months ago where a unusually large amount of gun items appeared, he suggested that a theme night where only items of the shooty shooty bang bang variety show up. However, I've taken it a little further, and restricted the characters to those who utilise some kind of gun in their Smash moveset. And here are those characters. For the sake of clarity, when I say gun, I specifically mean a physical object separate from the character themselves that shoots some kind of projectile with some kind of trigger. So, for example, Samus is allowed because her arm cannon is not part of her body. But because Dark Samus' arm cannon is part of its body, Dark Samus is banned. And yes, using another character as a gun counts, hence Banjo. Duck Hunt Duo also counts because of the off screen NES Zapper user that assists them. And just to clarify another point, bows don't count. Sorry Links/Pits/Byleth. Kirby is a happy accident, because with the exception of Mega Man, he can copy every single gun here. So why not? Anyway, keep in mind, that you are free to use all of the character's movesets, you don't have to use their guns if you don't want to. Stages are tied to the characters allowed. Be aware that items are at medium rate this week. Format: 3 Stock, 10 minutes FS Meter: On Room opens at 8pm.
  5. Whenever I play through Majora's Mask, I always find something new that I never knew about. It's one of the little joys of this game. There's always an exception though... That's never happened before. I wonder if it's always been there, or if it's an NSO thing. I've certainly never heard of this happening. I wonder if finishing Goht off with a Goron butt strike is what caused it?
  6. Done the first dungeon. Got 20 heart pieces and 9 masks. Trying to get the heart piece from the Town Shooting Gallery without gyro controls is a miserable experience! It is far too strict for how stiff the aiming is. A few little moments I got. So far, the emulation is top notch! Only the best for the best Zelda game! Apart from the stars at night (Single pixels designed for a CRT television are far too noticeable on a HD TV. Can't be helped, really), it's great!
  7. Not many. But I'm partial to the likes of Sherlock Holmes. That and Harry Potter is the only stuff I've really committed to reading.
  8. Probably just me, but the Pokedex research tasks was the only thing keeping me going. I much prefer the more linear routes. Once the tasks lost their appeal, nothing else was saving it. I'd probably be more forgiving if the battle system wasn't so regressive.
  9. Fine, if you're gonna be all pedantic about it. I've lost all interest in playing it. If this wishful thinking of Sword/Shield getting updated to allow people to transfer the new Pokémon from this game actually comes to fruition, then I'll probably go back to it just to maintain my National Pokedex completion.
  10. Well, yeah, the first example was bad on my part. Sorry. But this time, I only wanted to post an example that I think is more impressive. It's an opinion of mine. Just trying to add other examples. And I'm not saying your post is strange, I'm saying the trend of this is strange compared to other games. Again, another opinion of mine. I'm just trying to add to the conversation...
  11. But I never said that. I posted an example that is a more extreme case of "Thing gets discovered long after game is released" because you posted an example of "Thing gets discovered long after game is released" as well as my observations on how these kind of videos are unusually frequent for this game. If anything, you're ragging on me for using your post to give my thoughts on the matter. That's on you if you think I was trying to shut down your post. I'm just trying to give a response.
  12. When did I say you shouldn't have posted it? Don't put words in my mouth. I'm just using it as a springboard to post my thoughts on the trend of videos about it and give another example that I think is more impressive.
  13. At first, I was thinking "You barely made it? I imagine you could blitz through OoT with how much you played it before". But then I saw you actually bothered to get all 100 spiders, and it all made sense again. Majora's Mask is better.
  14. Right, about time that I updated this with the games I played this month. Gonna start off by quickly knocking off some games I played on Nintendo Switch Online. Not gonna go into too much detail on them, as I've already talked about them in the past. There was one really funny moment in EarthBound that I need to share though. I might be a little late to the party on this one... Hades is an action based roguelike (Shut up, @drahkon, I don't care) that was released in 2020. Developed by Supergiant games, it won more then a few Game of the Year awards, which is very impressive for an indie title. Based around Greek Mythology, you play as Zagreus, the son of Hades, as he attempts to effectively run away from home. The issue is that the only way out is to traverse through the various places of the afterlife, and Hades has kinda gone out of his way to make sure that no-one can escape from the Underworld. Luckily, various other gods from Olympus are trying to help Zag out with various blessings. The most interesting thing about Hades is that unlike most Roguelikes of it's nature, the plot is quite central to the gameplay. There's quite an intricate web of relationship issues between the many characters you meet along the way. This kind of omnipotent family drama serves as a really great incentive to play through the game. I found myself wanting to play just so I can talk to these characters. It's helped by the ridiculous amount of incidental dialogue, all fully voiced to boot. And it gets quite funny at times. The plot is progressed every time you attempt to get outta the Underworld, it doesn't really matter if you're successful or not, you'll get a steady drip feed of dialogue each time you go back to the hub area. If you were to somehow get to the end on your first attempt, you wouldn't really get much out of the plot, weirdly enough. And you'll likely die, you're gonna die a lot. The game is very difficult on your first attempt. But as you die over and over, you'll gradually unlock more and more features that all serve to make things easier for you to cope with. The various resources you pick up on each run can be used to power up Zagreus, unlock new weapons, get more equipment, and even change the kind of things you find in your escapades. It might take a few attempts (For me, it took 16 attempts), but you'll eventually make it. It's a matter of "when", not "if". And hey, even if it is too hard, there's a "God Mode" that reduces the amount of damage you take, and increases that reduction each time you die with it on. I didn't need that, mind. The inevitability of your success is probably why Hades has garnered much praise, it's a very accessible game for the genre it's in. This is by no means a bad thing, it's a very enjoyable loop that encourages that "Just one more go" mentality. It's all very much helped by the absolute slick gameplay. Zagreus is fluid and fun to control, and if you get hit, it's your fault. The only downside is that things are a little small on screen, so it can be quite hard to parse what is going on at times, especially in handheld mode. It's something I got used to over time. The credits have rolled for me, but there's still plenty for me to mess with, so I'll be pulling tantrums and legging it to Uncle Zeus for quite a while yet. This game definitely deserved its rewards.
  15. As expected, the Majora's Mask update has fixed Ocarina of Time's Water Temple room. The water reflects properly, and the fog is present. An interesting side effect that isn't immediately obvious is that the pause screen no longer comes with an image quality drop. Majora's Mask does this too, it's very cool. The N64 versions always had this issue, but the NSO version fixes that.
  16. See, this is something I find quite strange. There's this whole YouTube culture of BotW videos that are "Secrets you didn't know" as if BotW is the only game where this kind of stuff happens. Really, those videos are done for clicks from people who play BotW, but obscure stuff is being found in plenty of games to this day. You just gotta watch Games Done Quick to see loads of instances of "we just discovered this recently" A far more impressive example is a particular sidequest from Final Fantasy IX. Now that's something that's worthy of praise.
  17. You see, this is my concern. If Arceus ends up selling better then Sword/Shield, I'm worried Game Freak will take the wrong lessons from it and make their next game feature another huge, empty, sprawling landmass that will likely burn me out before I even see the credits. Because there's good stuff here, how you initiate battles is cool, but when the actual battle system blows chunks, it feels like a proper monkey's paw. If bringing over the few good things into the next mainline game comes with the caveat of having another region as large as Hisui? I'd rather they just didn't. The negatives far outweigh the positives to me.
  18. I think I just threw up in my mouth a little. Pinball? Maybe. Don't see why not. About as likely as other old spin-offs. Which is not that likely, but still. That is, except Trading Card based games? Nah, not gonna happen. If you've been following what has been going on with Trading Card digital software, TPC has absolutely no interest in commissioning a console based game.
  19. Well, I'd be very surprised if we didn't some kind of detail for what plans there are (if any) for Arceus DLC. Dare I hope for a Mystery Dungeon title though? Starting to feel like it should be time.
  20. It's one of those gacha games, isn't it? Eh, mobile can keep it. ...Wait...
  21. Registration for the next competition is now live. This time, entering and completing 3 battles will get you a Chocobo Shiny Galarian Zapdos. The format is current VGC rules. Double Battles, 2 normally banned legendaries (Mewtwo, etc.) allowed on each team. Registration closes on the 11th of March, with battles taking place that weekend. Register now, don't leave it until the last minute.
  22. @darksnowman, try not to fall into the trap of falling back into a party of Shulk, Reyn, and Sharla. It's a very inefficient team at this point. Consider a party of Shulk, Dunban, and Riki instead. Make some agility up gems and give them to Dunban, he'll dodge almost everything that's thrown at him, if you're at a decent level. Riki's "You can do it" is enough healing for the job, and his damage over time skills help put more damage out then Sharla ever could. Melia, while an amazing ether powerhouse, is only really good when the player controls her. The AI sucks with her (And with Shulk). There's a boss right near the end of the game, that's a really infamous roadblock, but is actually quite simple to beat for a team of ether users. Problem is, most people don't use Melia, because she's a very technical character.
  23. I don't know if he's mispronouncing Arceus on purpose, and that bothers me. The quote "Oh shit! We forgot to put Pokémon battling in this Pokémon game" sums up my issues exactly, I hate how stripped of its nuance it is and how backseated it got. It feels like such an afterthought. Still haven't finished it, BTW... I've lost all interest in it once I started playing EarthBound Beginnings/EarthBound again and remembered why I like RPGs.
  24. Oh yeah, it looks like loads of fun. Definitely want to try it as well, just for the novelty of it all.
  25. Well yeah, any game that has a decent gyro (or in RE4's case, IR) option will inevitably be less of a challenge. But that's because gyro is just inherently superior to aiming with a control stick. That's like saying Doom on Switch is easier then the original release because it supports gyro. Aiming with sticks is frustrating for me. Any game that has aiming something make up a significant amount of gameplay these days just feels awful to play because I've played quite a few games with great gyro controls. It feels like a serious step backwards. Resi Evil 4 on Switch really ticks me off because the Wii version is the first game that really made me realise how awesome motion aiming is. So seeing it released on Switch, with it's native gyro support and not have the option just shows how half-arsed the port was. Now, that's not to take away from the amazing mod you were bigging up. Because the controls weren't the focus of it. But I just can't go back to that experience of me having a miserable time playing the GameCube version. If there is a separate mod that allows gyro support, well then, RE4 will finally have a definitive version.
