  1. Why is there no-one actually being able to give us explaination. The thing about a different laser is impossible, because all those lasers are the same and if Nintendo had manufactured a different one, that would cause the same troubles like Sony had with it's blue diodes. And off course, it wouldn't be DVD. The problem with GameCube's Optical Disc was that it's reading direction was inverted (from center to outside, whilst DVD and CD go from outside to inside). So it's possible that Wii DVD's read the same way as GameCube's Optical Discs, and can therefore not read regular DVD's. So they need to bring a Wii with a both direction possibility to the market. But that's just my idea - but nobody really seems to know the answer..
  2. Not as hyped? Bein living in a cave the last year? Zelda is certainly a hype like Halo 2 or GTA: San Andreas. Perhaps it appears less, but then again there are fewer people for Wii right now. You got the viewpoint all wrong. From possible sales standpoint Zelda is a huge hype, because Nintendo might expect almost every Wii to sell with Zelda. So that's a 100% game, 100% hype, 100% sales. And for Zelda not having enough copies while Wii Sports Will, well, that could just be true. Wii Sports was finalized a longer time ago, Miyamoto added the finishing touch on Zelda last month (see the 'Iwata asks' interviews on the Wii website). So there was less printing time. I've got my copy reserved - it's never bad to reserve your copy, just to be sure. Can't be wrong, now?
  3. Regie wanted this sorted out before launch, but he lost a hefty discussion with Iwata about what the average size was. Iwata however seems to be quite content with the size. But really, the neatest function must be the small power brick, roughly the size of a lucnhbox, instead of the one looking as if it was the local oven with 360. And if i really go on topic, I just love the neat sleaky-white apple design, and the box in wich Wii is packed, wich shows that they've really fine-tuned everything in the process. Nice.
  4. Personally, I think Sony will still win ot this generation. Nintendo will do great, but you can't take over the lead in one generation. Certainly not with a inferior-graphics system. I have no troubles with those graphics, but if they want to win next generation they will have to tag along. Right now, Nintendo is sxtating it's image - cool, modern, young and for everyone. The generation after this they will combine their revolution wih graphics equal to the others. And at that point Nintendo will have the winning deck. Look at it as if they are playing poker. Nintendo will lose this hand, but that will deceive for the next hand, when Nintendo gets to pass the cards to Sony. It's going to be risky. Nintendo will do better, but will probably end up second anyway. When the next console (codename: roxor) will come around, Nintendo will have the good image and the great graphics. Sony will win the war, but will barely make any money on it. So if they go on like this for five generations (or even four) they will surely lose enough to kill themselves. Nintendo is smart... Never forget: it's business, not fun! Certainly in a topic like this.
  5. Reggie gives me the shivers. Really a dangerous guy you don't want to mess with. or, he never got any sleep and is really tired now and doesn't really remember what he was doing over there. Oh, and as you can see: Nintendo isn't a racist company! By the way, i'de love a autograph of Reggie on my box...
  6. I did like the last one, but it was plain HTML and therefore not updateable. I do like the entire game list, hope they keep it up-to-date. It's sleek-looking. Hope Europe gets the same treatment december 7. Oh, and I hope Nintendo-Europe themselves will update their site and look more nintendo.com like. At least that would be modern...
  7. Screw. What's so hard about that one, Nintendo? It's a feature PlayStation one had...
  8. You can't really blame them. The Wii version is much more anticipated. oh, and IGN aswell as 1UP say that the control, though needing to get used to it, are engaging an better than the GameCube version, because they wouldn't want to go back. It's truly changing the winning team for more goals and still winning. If anyone understands my last statement, send me a message. Cause it sounds stupid.
  9. Talking about questions (and not freeloader) has anyone any idea on Music playback? Music CD's? Or are we going to, after losing DVD's, losing CD's too because the penetration of it is almost 100%? I didn't really hear anything about it and I mailed IGN. As usual, they won't put it in the mailbag or reply. Yet. We'll just see.. At least we can play our MP3's using the SD card and photo channel. Jaj!
  10. My retailer, Game Mania, is the largest game retailer in Belgium. In Genk we have the largest store in Belgium (the best selling, at least). They didn't have a comfirmed number either. Still, I'm not worrieing. Why are you guys all hacking on this type of thing? You're really losing it a little to much. Don't be a child and blame Nintendo for this, because I believe Nintendo doesn't have numbers either, or refused to give them now. Now let's stop being so angry. I know other retailers got their numbers, but maybe the other retilaers just didn't. And even if they dide, they'll tell you in time. just don't be a cry-baby. And for a midnight-launch, what's up with that? We never have any in Belgium and we ain't angry about it. Because we have frickin' patience for a thing, and a certain logic. We have to work on fridays, you see? Now. Stop. Complaining.
  11. I'de love to have seen to channels up and running, and to be fairly honest: they could have being. They are simple to make and develop and it doesn't take that much, except an agreement, to get this stuff working. The only thing I'm seriously having troubles with is the Web Browser. Nintendo can say it's free untill next June, but will it be out before next June? Probably, but still. It somwhat pushed their good image over by announcing these servcies two months agop and not being able to deliver. It's quite a punch in the face. But then again, we have got Disc Channel (Good Lord, if we don't, Nintendo's in for trouble), Shop Channel, Mii Channel and Photo Chanel. Plenty enough to fiddle around with before actually going to news, weather or porn. Did I say porn? I meant internet. No really, I meant porn(1). (1) - Actually, I didn't mean porn. I meant internet. As in visiting N-Europe.com.
  12. You should tell your dad that Nintendo azctually wants people like him realizing that gamlng is not an obsession or a freaky past-time like people think it is now. If it doesn't work to convince him saying that the reason he should buy it is that it's made for people who think like him - to show them that tere's a different side to gaming too, maybe hitting with a hammer on his head or visit 'windmills' with him and let him get hit on the head to learn tha this stubbornness has no use in modern society nor in gaming. That'll teach him. Or get him in the hospital. But my hopes are for the first, because I'm not horridly cruel and trying to convince you to hurt your dad. Not at all.
  13. Great news for Nintendo: people are noticing, even those who aren't gaming. Now get the ads started across Europe and everything is going to be fine...
  14. I think I'm mostly looking for full games. Not the Sauerkraut and sensemelia minigamefests. I personally think I'm looking forward to Excite Truck too (it looked like a fabulous game when Gamespot was playing it), but there's not much really of interest in the launch window - Super Mario Galaxy is not a problem at all, wich is great as aa game. But I'm not sure about the rest. God, if I finish Zelda I might go and buy Red Steel, but then it's over for a while. After Red Steel it's waiting for Mario and maybe Far Cry. God, if I look at it this way - there isn't much intersting to buy right now. i might throw in Rayman: Raving Rabbids, though minigamefests are not the thing for me... we'll see where the money leads me.
  15. I think all SD is Sandisk's production. What joystiq means is that they don't get it working. But a lot of things are not working yet, because they'll need to update their systems before being able to. I wwant to see it with my own eyes or see website and magazines like IGN or NGamer talk about it before I actually believe this. Joystiq could be wrong... Recently, I just don't trust the site.
  16. SD cards are never sold for an individual product. The only thing they could do is instal software on the SD card so it can only be used for Wii. But if you'de format it on your computer, that software is gone and the SD is inusable. I doubt. But what's possible is that half-used SD cards with other software or data cannot be used. Maybe using empty SD cards will install Wii software. This is smart and efficient, because the save data and games you downlmoaded to it cannot be opened and emulated on your computer this way. Why does Joystiq start out with a half-full SD? They just want to make people worried - and they did a great job. What a crappy website...
  17. The more important question is: will they pull it of? And not ,spend the money on the wrong things? But finally the Americas have gotten a date for their marketing, so I'm expecting ours to start the 3rd of December. And Nintendo is spending £10,000 in the UK alone, so I hope Europe isw getting the same budget. But we'de settle for less, say 190,00 euros?
  18. The most important thing: the LEDs are in place. Wich means they're not gone. Duh. I hope you can turn them on and off (mine would be always on), too. It going to be a nice startup...
  19. But it wasn't fixe by Nintendo, because the retail version still has it.
  20. You have to be honest: the Wind Waker was lacking. Sure, it was a good game, but it didn't move me as much as Majora's Mask. It didn't startle me as much as Ocarina of Time. It didn't surprise me around every corner like Link's awakening. By the end, you felt that there were dungeuns removed because they ran out of time. And the triforce quest was incredibly boring. Saving more than thousands of rupees didn't make the game fun. At All. I like the wind waker and I love the celshading, but I'm sure it isn't the perfect game that Ocarina of Time or Majora's Mask were. But that doesn't make me question the 'milking' less. Don't know what you mean with it - and without ever laying hands on the game you can't really say what the game is like. And if Nintendo were milking, they really wouldn't make a 70-hour quest on a disc. They'de split it like so many game creators do. I thinkj it's going to be marvelous, so don't start talking yet if you haven't played it. For now, follow the hype.
  21. I would favor hooking up my iPod to listen to my music, but that isn't going to happen. All I need now is a SD card (i have a camera with compact flash), an SD card reader and heaps of songs. Oh, and I hope that Nintendo gets the thing running if there are Apple-like files on it (information that MacOs wrote on it). Interesting feature though, and I'm sure later games will allow you to hook up mp3 players as well. Developers just have to get acces to those USB-ports, I guess...
  22. Should I be pre-ordering a second Wiimote for launch? I'm planning to con my parents on this one (they'll pay the money I don't have, but I'll have to return it to them), they don't know that I've already payed €30 for Wii + Zelda. Now if I could get them to pay the remaining up to €300, I might have enough to grab an extra Wiimote. And Nintendo, why not a price-lowering in Europe just before launch, just like you did with GameCube? No? In that case I'de better start saving. Thank God for my late birthday, so I didn't spend my money on the wrong things yet...
  23. Looking Large, yes. And the highlighted part is only the Faron Province. Man, can't wait to get my sweaty, gamy hands on this game. I think I won't be standing up for a day or two and just sit in font of my television. It's shaping op to be great. Great, great. But I hope there won't be to many spoilers in the near future. The Gamespot special told me enough about the opining and it's sad that I won't discover it myself. On the other hand, I'll probably be trying other things that they didn't show - that way I can go for literally two hours before actually going into the woods. Joy!
  24. With the system being update-able and the Photo Channel built-in, I think that it won't be a problem later on. Nintendo however needs to implement the option, wich would be cool. I'm not so much talking about 'skinning' it, but changing the background of the menu's shouldn't be a hassle. But to be honest, you don't do that much in the channels menu - it's the channels you want, and they got different designs. But it's shaping up to be a good system, beating Sony's XMB and Xbox 360's blades by far. Or not. It's going to be good, upgradeable and simple. Now the last thing I'de want would be different users. Can't be that hard to 'pick your user' at startup, now would it. Would it, Nintendo? Nintendo?
  25. What about ressurecting Raven Blade from the dead? I personally think it would be great. Huge, modern worlds in an immersive story about a blade. You could use the Wiimote for swordfighting, puzzling - well, anything you can think of. With an immersive story, good graphics and developed by Retro Studios, this couldn't go wrong. And the game is, of course, thé most speculated game ever. I even think some people can't believe that it's gone... Neither can I, i'm still wanting to see more of it after those first, glooming screenshots...
