The Wiimote is exactly like any other bluetooth device - it only needs drivers. Just like the PS3 controller, only sony wants their controller to become universal standard. Pitty them. Just wait for Wii Emulators and Drivers for those controllers and you wouldn't need a Wii anymore and we all spend 250 euros to much. But at least we have a nice-looking piece of equipment in the house.

Prices in the UK are different than those in the rest of Europe - rest assured, you won't be ripped off. Except, we're all being ripped of by the cheap American Wii Points cards, wich cost about €15 (£10). Shit.

That's what I'm saying - who the hell is saying all those numbers? I'm asking people in-store, because there's no other way that gives an honest, non-disturbing or panic-creating number. Okay, it could be panic creating, but at least it would be somewhat correct...

First, maybe there are already topics on this (it might have fitted in the European pre-order thread, but even so, it's not quite about that) - but please give me some answers before locking it down. All you guys working in retail, does any of you know the exact number of units you are receiving in your store? I know a couple of you work in gamestores, so tell me - do you have exact numbers? There are a lot of rumours going around (like only 10,000 units for the whole of the Netherlands), but if the stores don't have any numbers yet than the press is probably wrong. So tell me: any of you have numbers? And if you had to make a minimum-guess, what would it be?

I'll be getting my exams the seventh to the eighteenth. Wich means that there won't be a) so much Wii (parents love this one) b) not so much learning (wich I love). On the Wii day itself I'm going to have a phiolosophie-test about Kant and some of his close companions. Pretty boring stuff, but great teacher (he actually searches for points just to make you pass the test - he knows that philosophie isn't given to anyone). In the meanwhile i'll be replaying every Zelda that I have in my possession (Majora's Mask is the best. No Doubt.) and scraatch of a day every day on my countdown timer. Oh, and keep thumbs up for my local shop to have more than 13 Wii's on launch day. Else, i'm screwed.

Isn't there a monitor cable avaible in Japan? i'm pretty sure it was listed as avaible accesoire. Of course, Europe nor America get this - but I'de love to have it (and nab my aunt's un-used computer screen to play Wii in my room).

What happened to exclamation marks and big letters at the beginning of sentences? It's annoying to read those fat letters - they seem as if he's a Nintendo employee despreadly trying to make his point. And it also feels as if you are commanding people. This guy makes me kinda annoyed... And, erm, there are some malfunctioning Wii's and again everyone is thinking that there are huge problems with them. If it was a huge problem, every Wii would have broken by now. And in case you can't remember, there are only a few broken ones. Please stop this yanking about the trouble and see as it is right now.

Yeah, it doesn''t make to much sense that someone would be pumping thousand euros on one launch if the games are mediocore...

It has to see the two eyes and there is a minimum distance. You will need to stand one meter, because if you come closer only one eye can keep track. And off course, if you come closer than one meter, you will be able to see the points on your television screen or damage your eyes, so that could be the reason Nintendo isn't advising you. About that 'no sensor bar need' film, it looked as if the response wasn't that smooth (the hand to control the menu was flickering). Very odd, and in the end: why throw it away? It's not like it's ugly.
-
You need a straight, uninterupted, line between your Wii Remote and your Sensor Bar. Three meters is the maximum for motion-sensing and one meter is the minimum. So the setup is going to be in sight anyway, because if you want to play motion-sensing, you'll need it in sight...

True. I've being thinking about buying a second game for the system next to my copie of zelda, but sadly enough, there's nothing out there that truly captures my imagination. All mini-game fests. Mayba Rayman or Monkley Ball, but then we're trough my check lsit... Pretty weak launch, but then again, at least we'll get some this time - at GameCube's we only had three...

But even so, your 512 Megs will still be filled quit quickly if your starting to download. The internal memory will soon just be too small... AND don't forget that although DVD's are 8.7 Gb, the data they place on it is much larger. A two-hours DVD-film with menu's and all would - in uncompressed size - take up as much as 48 to 50 Gb! And the same compression methods cannot be manufactured with 'just' data over web. It could be taking up a lot of space.

I hate IGN's loading times... Their streaming doesn't work like it works with youtube or google Video. Why not? Wii not?
-
But what he means is that an entire new Zelda dungeon would take up more spaace than three blocks. I think you can better get yourselves a 2 Gb SD-card to be sure. I think if it can't be downloaded, you will get a message in your message board on Wii. I think Nintendo has thought of it, it would be stupid if they forgot...
-
I think he mentioned it in the iwata Asks interviews, but I'm not sure (and neither in the mood to check it). But I'm almost positively certain. By the way, it might be possible doing it over SD card, because although data managment is impossible, the photo channel works fine without it - that means it can read an recognise the SD's. And if that doesn't work, get it connected using the external modem for the Wii to wire it up.Wihtout internet, your Wii future is doomed. Doomed! Yes, lik in Doom II. Or not.

What the hell is that last thing over there? What do the percentages represent anyway on your post, Fresh? Oh, and I have my doubt about the actual number that is shown on that site - it can't be for sure, now can it? Even so, let's not be hasty and say Nintendo has victory upon it's hand. One battle doesn't win the War. Yet, because history has proven that one Battle can win the war. After several others, of course. Ah well. Keep it up Nintendo, and on ecember eight, you can count my Wii in those sold units too.

Wifi Worries, How can Wii get ourselves online?
Jasper replied to dannbrownn's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Not stupid using the updates to slip in region locking to your system. Everyone will update to get SD acces - so your system is locked. Not a stupid move at all, Nintendo... But the next batch of Wii's will probably come with pre-installed firmware 1.2 or something like that - region specific. And yes, dannbrownn - it's a childish remark. sadly enough, I enjoy remarks made about sex because they - most of the time - don't really make any sense. And, off course, I often do it myself. No excuses here, then. -
I think Iwata said that the updates for the system would also be made avaible on discs. Don't know where anymore, but he said it's - I'm pretty sure of that. No idea if you can get the discs in America right now, but we'll just see...

Wifi Worries, How can Wii get ourselves online?

dongle |ˈdä ng gəl; ˈdô ng-| noun (Computing) an electronic device that must be attached to a computer in order to use protected computer software. ORIGIN 1980s: an arbitrary formation. (arbitrary: based on random choice or personal whim, rather than any reason or system) -
Wifi Worries, How can Wii get ourselves online?
Jasper replied to dannbrownn's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Your Wii And your DS will have exactly the same range. Why? Because your Wifi-dongle's range does not differ, and therefore going out of it's range with any Wifi product will result into losing connectivity. The Wii doesn't have a wireless range on its own. If your dongle connects for only 25 meters you can't go out of that distance (because your wii, even if it could go 50 meters, can't receive data from the dongle outside of the 25 meter range). It's all about the distance your dongle can go, if you Wii's in that distance it will work, if not, it won't. -
Than you are an inreasonable kid. But again, it's your opinion. If you, however, want to keep your eyes shut and look and the world being blind - I've got no problems with that. Just don't come crying when you bump into a wall, will you? At least you could be reasonable is what I mean and at least you could simple say that another man's opinion isn't so bluntly wrong. I personally think that Zelda is a huge hype. I also personally think it won't be an European hype, since we'll know everything of the game. i'll be eager to play it, though.

What I mean with inferior graphics is that technically, Wii isn't up-to-date. Computers can do so much more, Xbox 360 can do so much more and so does PS3. What I meant with inferior graphics is that no matter what, the list of features that's the longest can make it out the best. HD were just two letters (and about $300 worth of technology), but they do mean something. It's not always the beast that wins out is true (hey, Nintendo did release it's Nintendo64), but the most featiures do. DVD-playback, CD-playback, gaming and online features do change the way people look at the system. That's why PS1 was considered mroe powerfull than N64 in it's days. It's al about choices, and right now, Nintendo has shown it's intitial choice for it's forthcoming generations - buit they will have to take the exact leap in the next generation so that first they position their console and the same height as PS4 and Xbox 1080, and then they should make themselves pop out by innovative cotnrol. I think that could have bein a better plan. But for now, it's still looking good. But they won't take lead in one generation.

Sigh. Not another one(1)... Pre-order, guys, it never harms to do that. That's why we have the goddamned topic. (1) - Perhaps not irony writen over there? In that case, don't take it offensive.

Is it me or do you sound like a really-stupid, no-life? Come on, don't be the child. An 8.8 is fine for any game. And Zelda still is Zelda. I personally trust GameDaily's and IGn's opinion more than Gamespot. Those guys are, well, Gamespot. I honestly trust Matt Cassamassina more than the next guy on these kind of things. And don't be a fanboy, will you? Live in the world, not the floppy-swoppy thwirling Nintendo-red freakish tingle-island. Yes, Tingle-Island. Have a nice Koolooh-Limpah, dude.

First off, PS1 was 32-bit as far as I know and therefore a higher-end graphical console than the SNES. Sony really took voer the market with PS2, and not with PS1. Yes, they gained a lot of share, but going from zero to whatever isn't a problem if your product is new. Just don't forget that Sony was new to the market and people wanted to see what they did. Also, Nintendo made more mistakes than Sony does now. They sticked with cartridges, they sold at high price, they launched to late, to little. It's not going to happen that Nintendo takes back it's lead in one generation. I have a message for you all: step out of being fanboyish when you have to talk about topics such as sales or business. I'm a Nintendo fan, but at least look at the things the way they are, not the way you want them to be. We all know it, we all feel it, Nintendo won't take the lead in one generation...
