Nintendork Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 Play.com overestimate their prices to avoid dissapointment. They also have to cover delivery costs which are inclusive of the price. I imagine it'll go down to £15 by launch. In Japan when you buy 5,000 Wii points ($60 or so) you get a free classic controller. It's limited to the first 50,000 people or so. Just use Google you lazy bums: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wii_Points
david.dakota Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 Does anyone know what credit/debit cards can be used viw Wii Shop?
river_rage Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 i dont think the cards are rejion coded I saw some Wii error messages somewhere which suggested otherwise. Another error message implied that you'll be able to get some bonus cards for a specific game. Can't remember where I saw this though. Maybe gonintendo
Nintendork Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 Yeah, Iwata originally said that their content will definitely not be free. But he's given the go ahead for promotions akin to the Nintendo Stars catalogue. Don't expect a free song like iTunes. Also what pisses me off is that we were told we would be able to sample content before buying- has that materialised? No.
Mokong Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 So what's gonna happen with those damned Star Points thing we've all collected for the nintendovip thing. If they had any sense, seeing as the Uk and Ireland service was SO poor they should come up with a way for us to convert our Stars to Wii Points
Rummy Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 I hope they let you convert VIP Stars into wii points, even if it's at a lower rate (like 1 wii point per 4 stars. I've got tons of stars which I've never used ebcause everything in the catalogue is crap.
Jasper Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 Why didn't they go with Stars in the first place? it would at least have made sense. It was already the worldwide Nintendo currency. Oh wait, i see, there is no user login avaible, so your stars couldn't be transfered. Still, I miss it because I have about 2000 stars that I never traded in because screensavers don't seem to work on my Mac (at least you could have done that) and the print-and-iron-on-t-shirt-paper is more expensive than actually buying a game with it. The star catalogue was crap, at least they could have done this... Sad.
Mokong Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 It wouldn't be that hard to convert the VIP Stars to Wii Points would it? All they'd need to do is create a page on the VIP site where you enter your Wii's WiiConnect24 ID (i'm sure each Wii gets assigned one such number when it first connects.. the question is though is there a way for the player to view it) So you login to your VIP account, enter your Wii's ID number and within a few hours your VIP Stars get converted to Wii Points and added to your account. I have about 10,000 VIP stars, cuz i never used a single one, cuz our service was so poor.
Blue_Ninja0 Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 I have about 10,000 VIP stars, cuz i never used a single one, cuz our service was so poor. Same here. It would be really sweet if we could use them to buy some Virtual Console goodness.
ShadowV7 Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 I have about 5500 stars, the last thing I got was Metroid Prime from the catalogue.I even just keep the VIP stars in the game box untill i'm bored enough to enter them and hope for the best.
Sparko Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 I'd love it if stars could be converted into Wii points, I've got about 7 or 8 thousand of them. Bloody useless, only thing I ever bought with them was the Zelda collector's edition game.
Guest Stefkov Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 I'd love for the stars to become points. Got over 8,000 now. If i didnt buy the VIP ds, pac pix stylus and random winamp skins and those den shit. then i would have at least 11,000. So many VC games i could buy with whatever rate they convert to VC points.
Nintendork Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 Not gonna happen. There must be millions of stars in circulation, it would be money down the pan for Nintendo.
Guest Stefkov Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 Not gonna happen. There must be millions of stars in circulation, it would be money down the pan for Nintendo. Well we spent moeny for the games to get the stars in the first place. We've been rewarded these stars for buying the games. Now we cant spend them on anything cos the star catalogue is really crap. Nintendo already has our money for the games already bought, i cant see why we cant use the stars. They make a profit on each console sold dont they? I doubt they'll lose money.
Nintendork Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 I'm not saying Wii points cards ont appear in the catalogue. But a direct translation from Stars - points is highly unlikely in my eyes because it would take a lot of effort and logistics to interface the two systems safely. It's like saying, well they could.. but seeing as it takes them several months to post out a star catalogue item at times my theory is. They just won't be arsed. I genuinely see it just being ditched soon in favour of free wallpapers and screensavers for all.
Guest Stefkov Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 I wonder if we'll get any Stars with getting the Wii. If we do then they arent thinking about closing it down. They'll probably put something up new (on the website) on Wii launch, to make all those children spend their new Star, which they just got with the Wii. Something like Wii wallpapers or some keyrings, which will be in small supply. Then they wont do anything with it until Pokemon comes out which will be ages.
ShadowV7 Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 I never thought about the stars with the Wii.Maybe they'll update catalogue more now or have something different like a brand new background or if were lucky a ring tone
Cube Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 But a direct translation from Stars - points is highly unlikely in my eyes because it would take a lot of effort and logistics to interface the two systems safely. You "buy" sets of 500, 1,000 or 2,000 points, and get a code. Simple.
Shino Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 You "buy" sets of 500, 1,000 or 2,000 points, and get a code. Simple. How much is each set?
Nintendork Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 Nintendo Europe asking Nintendo to integrate this system for them? I am laughing. Do you really think Nintendo will implement this? LOLOL.
dannbrownn Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 Nintendo Europe asking Nintendo to integrate this system for them?I am laughing. Do you really think Nintendo will implement this? LOLOL. Nintendo Europe doing anything at all ever... Now I am also laughing!
Cube Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 How much is each set? It's a possible system that NoE could spend 5 mins to do if they wanted...
Zyneth Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 I'd really like them to give us ability to buy Wii points with stars every month or so. Frankly, I don't care how much stars a Wii point would cost, as long as I could spend my stars on something more useful than screensavers.
