Indie James Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 No you dont get it. The price you order at is the MAXIMUM price you pay. Shops cannot raise the price without consulting you as they have entered into a contract. They can lower it though without asking your permission as that would not put you at a disadvantage - which is the case here. (the third option is that they cancel the order which wouldnt happen unless there was a massive misprice). Ordering at a maximum price is totally different to ordering at an estimated price Well it seems your reading something different because i wasn't even talking about the maximum price. I was saying £33 MAY not be what you pay because the prices can still be lowered meaning you'll once again pay the new price.
Cookyman Posted October 10, 2006 Author Posted October 10, 2006 Fine by me, but im pretty sure that shouldnt be sarcasm :p i've been told im a 'sorted bloke' by 2 peeps, and i've had a few talk to me outside forums. So meh, back on topic lets forget this, ok? Ok sounds good to me
ZeldaFreak Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 1. Sense of humour? Every one has one, but yours is unconstructive and laughing at somebodies idea of an expensive game, saying to go polish a turd, yeah, thats real funny.. 2. Why would you leave the forum about an opinion? Thats pathetic. 3. Theres a problem with a 17 year old lecturing you on maturity? Compare my posts to yours. Mine are constructive, I reason. You however, do not back your self up and state what you have to say as fact. 4. When I see a consecutive amount of posts being immature, people tend to get an 'impression' on others. Ever heard of that? 5. You wouldnt be lowering your self by judging me, I wouldnt give a shit. Oooh some guy on the internets thinks im a fool, big whoop. The only instances I want people to judge me is in employment, school life and socially. This forum falls into neither, well social kinda but appearance isnt on here. 6. Poopy pants? My god I hope that was a joke... Not even my 7 year old brother says that. You wrote what I was thinking mike, anyway the prices aren't falling far from it at the moment seen as preorder demand has been so strong it may even have the opposite effect so to speak whereby good old games will stick at £32.99-39.99 range alot longer and this may have a knock on effect of crap games sticking at maybe a £29.99 price point. However with everything there are exceptions. To me, I know the margins are really tight on wii games like game pays £31.99and sells it for £39.99, but shouldn't the game stores - force nintendo, microsoft and sony to reduce the price of the games they get sold at and just maybe prices of games can come down

AshMat Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 High street stores HAVE to charge that much, they have bills to pay, staff to pay, etc.

People that think they know everything are annoying to those of us who do.... you said "Otherwise all the shops would technically be pricing games at £33." implying that all shops would start at a lower estimated price and change it to suit the reality. ie. up.
Indie James Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 No Cookyman was saying you WILL pay the £33 price tag if uve ordered now but if that goes down in price again thats not the case is it? Then i compared it to other shops because if Play are 'that sure the price is going to be £33 for Wii games' then every shop would have priced it by that. How am i impying I know everything? lol

Jon Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 In case I am missing something, someone please tell me why Wii games are the same price as 360 games?
blender Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 In case I am missing something, someone please tell me why Wii games are the same price as 360 games? I'm not listenning la la la The wii is cheaper because its cheap to develop for la la la x360 is always more expensive la la la

Cube Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 In case I am missing something, someone please tell me why Wii games are the same price as 360 games? Because they are cleaper than 360 games (not the same price)
demonmike04 Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 Actually JonSt has made a good point... Wii games cost the same as most 360 games. So what Nintendo meant was the console was the cheapest option..not anything else. EDIT: Nevermind, im mixing up high street prices with internet prices.

Was hoping wii titles would be about £32.99

Jon Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 but thats the price at play:wtf: Yea, but Play suck, Gameplay are normally quite good for cheap games and they are all £39.99.
Mimternet Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 Considering its just Play.com pricing this way, dont you think its worth holding out a little longer before other companies price like this if they ever do? Because im pretty confident these are just estimates. But they had £40 as an estimate originally, why would they knock money off of their estimate if it meant them losing money? I'm fairly confident all launch games will be priced the same. Because it's launch they all have a chance of selling well. The £39.99 RRP is probably going to be the highest pricing tier - Zelda. The others are going for as much as possible while they can. The other way of looking at it is that Zelda is the launch system seller. It's going to sell by the bucket load and it is in Nintendo's interest to make the best launch game at a reasonable price to sell systems. Afterall, if they don't sell millions of systems they aren't going to be able to sell future games. You catch me drift sonny? The biggest drawback for me is that while cheap Play takes ages to deliver. Normally this isn't a problem but I need my Wii fix on day one so in this case I'm buying in store.

I may have the solution if your buying instore and Gamplay and others haven't dropped their prices like Play.com have at the moment. You still will be able to save money off the recommend retail price if you buy them from HMV onl launch day. I was in my local HMV this week and they have a free mag called HMV Games (which is pretty crappy) but there are money off vouchers inside: £5 off a game if you spend over £35. £8 off if you spend over £60. I'd personally use the £5 off vouchers on any games (you get four of each by the way but as its a free mag you can grab more if needed) so the most you'll pay for zelda instore is £34.99. I think the other online stores (Gameplay etc) will follow suit with Play.com and I'm waiting to see their prices drop as they will deliver your game on launch day or if your lucky the day before! however if they don't HMV is a good alternative as its only a couple of quid more than Play.com. I have ordered my Wii from Game (no 9 on list) and reckon they'll match HMV's discounted games prices if you show them the vouchers if not it's their loss - either way your still gonna get your games cheaper! Hope this helps - and obviously if anyone has any more money saving info then add to this thread.
Cookyman Posted October 30, 2006 Author Posted October 30, 2006 Amazon have now matched Play.com for Wii games prices! and so have simply games - I've used them before and received gamecube games the day before release with them! :D :D :D
DCK Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 Let's hope some stores on the continent now also decide that Wii games should be 45-50 euros.

They might pricematch with actual advertised price elsewhere but not if you need vouchers to get that price, even if they're free.
david.dakota Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 I've spoken to Gameplay about these prices. The call centre agent said Gameplay are not entirely sure how Play.com have reduced their prices, but they are liaising with Nintendo to reduce them.

Owen Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 Gameplay are selling 'Gears Of War' and 'Call Of Duty 3' for Xbox360 for £37.99, don't get me wrong but some of the Wii games priced £39.99 (well most, except Zelda) should be £32.99. No-way can a Wii game be priced at £39.99, the same as a 360 game. Although saying that...Wii is a next-gen system...as well.... I don't know what to say really. If i say Wii games are too expensive for what they are, i may be shouted out...but thats what i feel...but i feel bad for saying it...because there good games! Overall? Don't shoot me...but a Wii game can't be priced the same as a 360 game can it?...can it?
Phube Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 Yeah but the RRP on Xbox 360 games is £49.99!! You can't campare sale prices, it's not really fair!!
