Ninty are going to have to do something eventually regarding storage. What with VC, WiiWare & the fact that some games, ie GH3, Pro Evo, Mariokart, endless ocean etc won't let copy the save to sd card !!! & some of them savefiles are quite big.

I stopped downloading VC games a while ago, ( got 5 vc games ) it is bound to affect vc & wiiware sales as people only have a small fridge to fill so become more reluctant, choosy with what they purchase, thinking '' if i get this now, something better might come along which i won't be able to fit in my fridge. Surely WiiWare developers want Nintendo to rectify this problem.

I really hope so. As it seems,it is entirely at WiiWare developers hands to push Nintendo to find a logical storage solution as it is quite obvious that the 'fridge' model of business will lead the developers in losses.

Is Double Dragon any good, or are there better versions coming?

I would recommend it. The only thing that it lacks is a co-op mode though, I'm unsure what other versions will come to the VC but I'm gonna hold out a while and see if there are any with co-op.

The Jap upcoming releases look solid enough. I've neglected my VC cos I'm low on space- got even less than I thought cos I can't even fit in the WiiFit channel, but I'd hope that if I cut the Metroid Preview Channel loose that I'd free up a bit of space.

Feels like an age since I last posted on the boards. Anyway heres some good news from Kotaku...

Here's one future Wii Virtual Console update I cannot wait to write up. The ESRB has recently posted a rating for the classic Super Nintendo RPG EarthBound for the Nintendo Wii. The sequel to the Japanese-only game Mother, the game tells the story of Ness and company as they fight to gather the powers of the Earth to defeat the evil alien Giygas. With a compelling humor, an original setting, and some damn fine graphics for a Super Nintendo game, EarthBound is widely considered to be one of the greatest role-playing games of all time...and now it is rated E for Everyone. There really is only one reason an older game gets a Wii rating via the ESRB, so expect EarthBound to arrive on the Wii Virtual Console sometime in the near future.

They had better send it our way aswell.

Great news, Nintendo should have released it as part of the Hanabi Festival. A missed opportunity.

I feel quite disappointed that we're only getting Mega Drive and Turbografx titles in the second Hanabi Festival. We'll probably have to wait till September for another...

Hmm, Nintendo site says one of the upcoming Hanabi games is Cho Aniki.. That's that very, very, very wrong shooter if I'm not mistaking? I'm so gonna download that.

In Japan, these games are examples of baka-ge, a type of kuso-ge. "Baka-ge" literally means "idiot game" while "kuso-ge" literally means "shitty game" or "shit game". Baka-ge's appeal lies in its campness. Indisputably, the game's aesthetic sense — semi-nude men in suggestive homoerotic poses — is a unique one, certainly a quality that has given the series a cult popularity among Western gamers. Though the graphics are more risqué than pornographic, the series references homosexuality and gay sex more directly and more often than perhaps any other video game series in history.

Nintendo refuse to release Bionic Commando on the Virtual Console, yet they'll release this?

Today, the Americans got :-

NES

- Renegade

N64

- Pokemon Puzzle League

Always wanted to get Pokemon Puzzle League on the N64 all those years ago (had it on GBC), but I'll probably pass on it, now that I have Planet Puzzle League on my DS.

I'm holding off on the VC for a while until some really good stuff comes on. With WiiWare around the corner (15 days!) I need to save my points.

I had a feeling you would be in dismay! You gotta remember that back then these shooter games were all we had... weren't they? :indeed:

Its crazy how bad the VC has become in terms of the choice of games. There are so many classics that could be put on it yet we are getting drip fed utter rubbish.

Im also wondering why cant Nintendo have a release schedule for the VC? I mean Xbox Live Arcade usually lets you know whats coming out at least a week in advance so why cant Nintendo do this for the VC?

Would be good if they did, or atleast the games coming this month. I want Mystical Ninja Goeman ¬_¬

A Fire Emblem would be pretty good, aswell as Earthbound which I think we'll get, or dare I say it, Chrono Trigger and Mario RPG. Though since those are text heavy, if they started translating when the Wii got released for a future Hanabi Festival game, we'll get it in, oh, 4-8 years.

Anyone fired their Wii up to see what games we got tonight?

EDIT: Just checked and its some boxing game that I have never heard of and suprise suprise 2 shooters!

I didn't check the shop channel last night, or this morning as I had intended... seeing as you didn't post up the game names I didn't know what you were talking about. :heh:

But N-E to the rescue:

Hanabi Festival 2 comes to a close with a third week of previously unreleased classics...

First up is Turbografx title Star Parodier. Hudson Soft’s Star Soldier series gets the parody treatment in this cutesy shoot ‘em up packed with classic Hudson in-jokes. Play as Bomberman, a Star Soldier fighter or even a flying PC Engine! Originally a CD-Rom release, the game is also famous for its toe-tapping soundtrack. The game is available now for 900 Wii Points.

Also from the Turbografx is Digital Champ Battle Boxing. This arcade-style boxing game, previously unseen outside of Japan, features a rare first-person perspective. Take on the world’s greatest prize fighters as you perform powerful jabs, hooks and uppercuts, controlling both of your gloves independently. It's also available for 900 Points.

Finally, a Sega Megadrive title by the name of Gley Lancer - so named because the Japanese famously have trouble mixing up their 'r' and 'l' pronunciation - no jokes! This cult classic shoot ‘em up is seeing its first release outside of Japan. When her father is captured by alien forces, young rookie pilot Lucia takes a prototype fighter on a rescue mission, engaging the enemy across space, underwater or through claustrophobic caves. It's available now for 700 Points.

Nintendo have said that though this is the final week of Hanabi Festival for now.

So there we have it. The current Hanabi festival has drawn to a close with the following titles:

- Star Parodier, Turbografx, 900 points.

- Champ Battle Boxing, Turbografx, 900 points.

- Gley Lancer, Megadrive, 700 points.

There was a list released the other week detailing all the games, showing that we won't be getting any Nintendo games. I really think there needs to be some quality control on the VC.
