Thanks for the tip, I have been using photoshop for about a year now. Photoshop 7 for half a year, Photoshop CS2 for the other half.

Huh? odd, you might want to ask a mod about that, there should be a creative mod lieing around here somewhere.

It comes up with "Remote file too large".

Meh.

What exactly are you doing? R-E doesn't force-implement signature restrictions, so you won't get an error message even if you do it wrong.

Save the image on your HDD, then upload it somewhere like photobucket.com or imageshack.us. Get the direct url to the image then head to your User CP in these forums, then the signature section (from the menu on the left) and put it like this:

[img*]http://www.imageurl.com/sig.gif[/img*]

Without the *** asterisks in the tags, in the text box.

For example, my signature is hosted in my photobucket. This is a direct link to it: http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y165/soap_box/asukarei_final.jpg

So, my signature reads:

[img*]http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y165/soap_box/asukarei_final.jpg[/img*]

(again, without the *** asterisks, I have to use them here so the code isn't actually translated)

Meh, I've tried all this, but it comes up with "Invalid file" when I do what you suggest.

I'm probably doing something really, really obvious wrong...

The URL for the pic is: http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k204/willbxtn/fishpx4.gif

So I put into the sig section: [img*]http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k204/willbxtn/fishpx4.gif[/img*] without the asterisks, but it doesn't work. Meh.

Help!!

Sorry to be such a pain, it just wont work.

Simply makes no sense to me... what browser are you using? Are you putting it in the same place as your current sig, the line about world fun? The code you're using should certainly work. If you can't do it, I'll ask an admin to put it in for you.
