Encoded Wii Release date?

The article:

The fourth quarter of 2006 will herald a new era for Nintendo with the launch of its remarkable new Wii home video game system. But that's not what this news item is about! How could that be, you ask? Perhaps the secret to the launch information for Wii is somehow encoded in the text of this news item. You might want to pore over it for a few hours before staying up all night to debate phraseology and comma placement with your friends online. Or maybe it's all just a scam to get you to read the other games we have launching this fall. One of the two.

As the weather cools down, the Nintendo portable game offerings heat up. FINAL FANTASY V ADVANCE makes its way to Game Boy Advance SP on Nov. 6. As series go, FINAL FANTASY is to video games what James Bond is to movies. FINAL FANTASY loyalists will enjoy an opportunity to debate which installment was best.

Nintendo DS owners are the big winners. Every week or so, another huge DS title hits, from the Touch Generations title Clubhouse Games to fan favorites like Elite Beat Agents and Yoshi's Island 2. Clearly a gamer's idea of paradise, here is Nintendo's upcoming DS lineup:

Oct. 9: Clubhouse Games

Oct. 16: Nintendogs (Dalmatian)

Oct. 23: Magical Starsign

Oct. 30: Pokémon Ranger

Oct. 30: Children of Mana

Nov. 6: Elite Beat Agents

Nov. 13: Yoshi's Island 2

Dec. 4: Custom Robo Arena

Dec. 4: Kirby Squeak Squad

And, for Nintendo GameCube owners, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess will be available for you this fall. An enhanced version also will be a launch title for Wii. That will all happen on... Oh look, we're out of space.

Hmm.. Im stuck.

They're taking the piss, if you hadn't realised; all too often, you get a statement released and people start trying to read something into it, or they start making outlandish claims about some hidden meaning. For once they're calling people on their BS.

hey dude i subtracted each realease date (i.e Oct 9 is 10 - 9 = 1) and added them all up(i made each positive) an i got 84, counted down from today and i got October 20, a little far fetched i know, but i was lookin on the ign boards and it links up with one of the theories there:

ii=2

October 2

but if u look at the top( i underlined it) there's a 2nd "o" for 20 so there could be a chance!!

From arstechnica.com

Where the fun comes in is the statement that the press release is not about the launch date of the Nintendo Wii, but "perhaps the secret to the launch information for Wii is somehow encoded in the text of this news item." The release does go on to talk a bit about the Wii and how the much-anticipated Zelda: Twilight Princess will be available for both the GameCube and Wii (the latter an enhanced version), but just when it is about to reveal the release date it ends with a cheeky "oh look, we're out of space."

With the Internet being what it is, it did not take long for gaming enthusiasts to crack the code. Gaming Target was one of the first to figure it out, noticing that at least one new game was being released every Monday in the fourth quarter except for October 2, November 20, and November 27.

November 27 is after Black Friday, the traditional hottest shopping day of the year, so it can be discounted. November 20 is after the launch of the PlayStation 3, which seems unlikely given Nintendo's desire to get a jump on its old rival. This leaves October 2 as the most likely launch date for both the Nintendo Wii and the new Zelda.

Personally, I'll have my credit card ready.

It seems a bit (more than a bit, actually) early for release considering what I had expected, but if the press release really does hide something about the Wii-release, I'm very sure it's october 2.

The other thought I had was, that there's a REALLY big gap between Yoshi and Kirby, which makes room for a Wii-launch. I don't think they'll release it on top of a long-awaited DS game. The thing is, this would be VERY close to the PS3 launch, and they told us they're launching it before.

October 2 - I think we got ourselves a winner!

EDIT: At first it was by september, later it was changed to in september.

I think it will be at Leipzig,I don't see them doing a Spaceworld or anything.I thought it was 'By September'.Maybe it will be at the end of 'Camp Hyrule :heh:

Also I think the date will come to us soon "And, for Nintendo GameCube owners, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess will be available for you this fall. An enhanced version also will be a launch title for Wii. That will all happen on … Oh look, we’re out of space."

They would usually say something like in "With Zelda released in Q4" and that they know the date and want to say it to us.Maybe i'm just getting desperate.

Here's a theory I found interesting.

The article puts a lot of emphasis upon FF:V Advance, the section being strangely worded and Final Fantasy being written in capitals. However the most important line is:

"As series go, FINAL FANTASY is to video games what James Bond is to movies."

This leads us to the new Bond movie, Casino Royale, which is set to be released in the USA and UK on November 17th. The same day of the supposed PS3 release. So does this mean that the day of the release of FF:V Advance, November 6th, will be the Wii release date?

I think October 2 is way too early. Too close to the Japanese Pokemon releases, methinks. Anyway, isn't this "code" kind of like someone saying "My uncle's cousin's first nephew's aunt's sister-in-law's husband's friend's kid works for nintendo and he says it's being released secretly on September 24!! OMG im serious!" Really, people, there's no code.

Yeah I knew a guy in school who had a friend whos dad worked for Nintendo. Its the truth, they got to get in to E3 for free and get to cut to the front of the entrance line.
