Charlie Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 It was announced at the press conference, but what is it? Think they'll tell us during E3? I hope so...
masaki86 Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 So basically; Nintendo's Online service eh? They mentioned about delivering items from mates in Animal Crossing. Would that mean they just send something from their game, and it is stored on the systems RAM/flash memory until I put AC back in and turn it on? I don't think, like others are assuming, that people will be able to access your village 24/7. I just assume it wil be for stuff like this. Game updates and so on could be delivered during the night as well. Better yet, when playing another game, maybe they could implement an xbox live message pop up sort of thing. SO when something is delivered, you know straight away
Guest Stefkov Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 i think this sounds cool. he said that someone can visit your town and leave a message without you even being there. i like that idea of a message. an idea just thought of, say a message is sent and its on this sleep mode, you could set it to a silent mode and a normal mode, in normal mode the wii makes a noise when you get a message, but if in silent, the light on the fron of the wii starts to flash. so if you in bed you can see if your near your wii, like i will be, you can see you got a message.
masaki86 Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 i think this sounds cool. he said that someone can visit your town and leave a message without you even being there. I didn't hear him say that, I thought he said 'send' a message. It would make more sense, as a)if they were to visit you village, then wouldn't you need your game turned on. b0what happens if AC isn't in your rev, they wouldn't be able to access it.... FUCKING HELL NINTENDO You don't answer any questions; but you give us a shiteload more!
mario114 Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 Sounds really cool, so they confirmed A.C as well then?
Guest Stefkov Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 thats true they basically confirmed AC for the wii with that statement, whether i heard it wrong or not, they said about AC for the wii. please please please please bring out Harvest Moon Wii
mario114 Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 thats true they basically confirmed AC for the wii with that statement, whether i heard it wrong or not, they said about AC for the wii. please please please please bring out Harvest Moon Wii Think how cool it would be (harvest moon wii) with: online markets and trading, pitch up and sell stuff to loads of other people.
Guest Stefkov Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 i know itll be like AC, but with animals to trade, and fruits to buy and sell, if they made one, they sohould make loads of new different fruit so only some people can grow them with the right things, like soil acidity. and in Friends of mineral town you could go to chicken fight s ans horse racing, itd be so cool to do that online against others. and bet on other people aswell. sit and chat to your frinds while betting on a horse online
KKOB Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 animal crossing wii will be essential!!! people have been saying that nintendo's 'N5' would be persistantly online and now it is-brilliant! in regards to wii online i hope there are friends lists etc and no need for friend codes cos they drive me nuts!!!
Patch Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 I think this has great potential. How cool would it be if you bought Super Mario Galaxy and finished it, and then a while later, Nintendo sent a new final boss to everyone's Wii. How freaked would you be when you played the game again! Or it could be for simpler things like extra levels, new textures/characters/clothing, competition information, cheats etc...
Guest Stefkov Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 imagine for AC they could send out like new furniture, or a new model type for your house while you sleep. or a new level in smash bros, or they could add in another character.
SpinesN Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 I see this unlocking content that already resides on the disks rather then downloading new content (512MB is not huge). <-- refering to textures, levels, other big items. AC items should be very small

Nintendork Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 They are thinking about it, and making it something that a hardcore gamer would use. Always on-- brilliant. It's so simple. They didn't say nearly enough about the back catalogue.. I hope there is more press packs tomorrow for IGN etc..
Atomic Boo Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 Did he say revolution would have a free-web browser?
SpinesN Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 Did he say revolution would have a free-web browser? Yes. Opera built into the firmware.
Nintendork Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 Built in? Safe.. Hope they can do something about typing though.
Atomic Boo Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 Holy yes im dreaming. It does mean when we're posting comments on RE that we'll need a keyboard to do so. Im not using the wiimote
Nintendork Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 Well if it has bookmarks I can make a folder in my del.icio.us on the computer.. the most frequently viewed sites can go in my Wii folder and that can go on my Opera toolbar. I hope very much so the browser is not crippled by security updates, media problems and lack of flash.
Kurtle Squad Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 Bloody hell; It's difficult enough getting 4 in a row.
Mokong Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 This is a great idea, even when turned off the Wii is still working away in order to make our gaming lives that bit better, what a wonderful little machine. This is prolly the main reason for the on/off button on the controller, it doesn't turn it off it puts it in standby. I think for things like send messages to your friends town, if its off (or the game isn't in the Wii) it'll prolly be held on Nintendos server waiting for you to start the Wii up again, when you do you'll prolly get a "pop-up" on the start up screen saying that you have an update for AC please insert the game disc to recieve.
ShadowV7 Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 I thought what a great idea when I heard it.I wasn't very indepth though. Can't wait for more news on it,something to keep an eye on.
Nintendork Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 Yeah if you're mate is playing Halo on live and you want to race her, you can message her then it pops up asking for that disc to be inserted. I hope they go for a unified service like this where you can message your mate where-ever.. not just from one game. I am assuming, but I think Nintendo is going unified and that's great news.
